We really enjoyed the "real" Mexican food which was delicious! Also enjoyed our waiter who took very good care of us. The margarita's were excellent.
We had a delicious dinner. The dishes on the menu are authentically Mexican, and the quality of preparation was very good. Our server was attentive and service was fast. The dining room is to the back of the restaurant, and you feel like you're in a different world from outside. We had a loud-voiced neighbor who took away from the experience, but that was not the restaurant's fault.
Always a favorite. My colleague (who is Mexican) loves to go to Pico's everytime he's in Houston since its more like the regional cuisines of Mexico as opposed to the generic Tex/Mex that 99.99999% of Mexican restaurants tend to serve. ¡Viva Pico's!
This is great traditional Mexican food, not Tex-Mex. The food was great, even for Tex-Mex junkies. The atmosphere was relaxing, but the "over the top" outstanding feature was the service!!
Sat outside enjoying margaritas and dinner. Good food
The noise was overwhelming; really no conversation possible. The food was ok, but nothing special. What topped it off was the worse service I've experienced in a Houston restaurant ever. The wait staff left us waiting for them for 20-30 minutes several times. Not recommended even for the best parts.
Pico’s is the place we go for relaxed fun and delicious comfort food. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, whether we are a group of 4 or a party of 20.
The perfect margarita always is a fabulous drink and love it when soft shell crabs are available
Great food, drinks, and service. Authentic recipes. Fun to try new things here. The mariachi music is lively and good natured. But the restaurant is VERY noisy, particularly during peak times. No noise abatement design at all. Hard to carry on a conversation with the person next to you sometimes.
Alberto was the best server we have ever had at Picos and we dine here a few times a month over the last few years. He was helpful, friendly, and affable and made for a great dining experience. We will definitely ask for him next time.
I have enjoy the restaurant, but the tenderloin fajitas where tuff and stringy! Very disappointed after even asking the waiter about the meat. Then spoke to the manager and he was very kind, but had no resolution to the meat. Again disappointed and hope it gets better! I will RETURN....
We were a party of 14 adults out celebrating a birthday (made reservations days in advance, so not a walk-in) and our waiter was either inexperienced, ill, on drugs, unmotivated, or just drastically over worked - we were there for 3.5/4 hours - we had to chase down someone to even bring us chips and salsa, take our drink orders, and get refills. Everyone’s food arrived but mine was going to take a bit longer, so they brought me the saddest excuse for a salad (some romaine and 4 cherry tomatoes) to substitute until my entree arrived. Food was ok at best. Overall very disappointing, as a 14-top is an easy way for a waiter to make some money: just keep the drinks and the chips/salsa flowing!
This is not a TEX-MEX restaurant, this is an authentic Mexican restaurant. The menu is fairly extensive and offers many classical Mexican dishes not available in other Mexican restaurants in town. I ordered the traditional mole and I think it was the best mole I ever ate in my life. I'm so glad we have this restaurant in town.
Pico's was recommended by a good friend in the Republic of Panama. I booked a table for three for a late lunch. I'm am from Panama and my guests are local Houston residents. They loved it. Thumbs up!
First time here. Restaurant was only about half full, but very noisy - difficult to hold a conversation. Food was OK, but not exceptional. The chiles rellenos were very good, but the chicken pibil was dry and relatively tasteless. The $12 margarita I had was not great. Service was poor. Our waitress showed up to take our orders and then disappeared for the rest of the night - she did not check in with us again until after we were done eating. My wife ordered a coke, which was served in a small glass and was mostly ice; she emptied it 10 minutes into the meal and was never offered a refill. There are so many wonderful, more moderately priced Mexican restaurants in the Houston area that we really expected more for the high prices here. We do not plan to return.
The service was good and the place was cute. BUT the food (we ordered fajitas, seafood, and a steak) was ok- definitely disappointing considering the high prices. I would happily choose to eat out of a taco truck than to go back to this place.
We celebrated my daughter's 21st birthday and had a great time. Good food, good service, and a dessert with a candle, as requested.
We found Pico’s in Houston as an authentic food place. Being my wife is from Puebla Mexico, she loved it. Chile en nogada a specialty
Had the duck 2 ways and it was great!
Girls day out.
We keep going back- after 25+ years Arnaldo and his family have served the best "Mex-Mex" in Houston. Just to go and try the amazing variety of margaritas and curated tequilas is an experience in itself, but don't miss out on all the regional flavors you can savor.
Had a fabulous time celebrating a mother/daughter birthday. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous.
Pico’s food is consistently very good, but in our last few visits, the service has not been as good. On this visit, one of our meals came out about 15 minutes before the other.
Food is very good. Waiters were helpful but order was slow to come out of the kitchen. Nice festive atmosphere. Pretty noisy.
Best most incredible outstanding breakfast in Houston !!
Try The pancakes!!!! Huevos machacados !!!
As always, the food is good.
Food still as good as always, service tonight was pretty slow.
This restaurant was nice. The food portions for the price were a disappointment but the food was great! The server we had was trash. He barely came to the table and when he did he acted like he had something else he had to do. It was my fiancé’s birthday and it felt like I made a mistake with going to this restaurant. This is my first time dining here. Maybe I’ll try it again by myself at the bar. Never again for a date night!
I've been eating at Pico's since the restaurant opened on Bellaire Blvd. in 1984, so I feel qualified to review it. The new location on Kirby and Richmond at the renovated former Ninfa's is worth visiting for the food as well as the atmosphere, especially on weekends. Three of us had dinner on the patio July 31. Although the service was spotty even though the restaurant and patio weren't overly crowded, we still enjoyed the experience. The food and margaritas were excellent, and we stayed and talked for two-and-a-half hours. We tried cuisine from several of the various regions of Mexico, and it was creative and tasty. The margaritas (made with Don Julio tequila) were among the best I've ever had. The way they're served in shakers with ice and then poured into martini glasses makes them even better. I've taken business associates to Pico's for lunch, dined there socially with friends and family, and reserved tables and the event room for special occasions. It has never disappointed.
Great dinner for a group. The soft shell crabs were outstanding and the margaritas are a perfect pairing for them. Look forward to coming back.
We came after church on a Sunday. It was pretty busy but we were able to get seated quickly. We decided to try the Buffett they had available as it came recommended by our server. They had a wide selection of offerings including fresh ceviche. We will likely visit again and maybe try something off the menu instead.
Our server, Spencer, was friendly and impressed us with his knowledge of the menu items. He added fun to our special reunion.
My wife and I invited a couple especially for the soft shell crabs. One of our guest uses a walker, the receptionist located a table situated for easy in and out access, making the outing much comfortable. At the waiter's suggestion, each couple shared a platter of three crabs each and side fixings. The meal was served promptly, arranged in sumptuous display and enjoyed by all. Not drinkers, we had lemonade which I recommend as a non-alcohol alternative.
Not your everyday Tex-Mex- amazing flavors and best margarita selection in town! Try a tequila tasting...oh my. Been eating at Pico's for 30 years and counting. Thank you, Arnaldo Richards.
Every time we go to Picos it never fails! The food is always great and the service is nothing less. I recommend everyone try Picos their is something in the menu for everyone!
We love Pico's. We went for a fajita special for National Tequila Day, and we also had the Margarita special. Both were great values. And we can never pass up the table-side prep guacomole. Pico's is great.
We've been with Chef Arnaldo since the beginning! Always exceptional food and service. I was looking through some recipes the other day, and came across the Chef's recipe for Chiles en Nogada. I had a craving for them after that, and I thought about making them myself. Then I read the recipe. Lots of work! It was much easier to have Arnaldo do the work and for me to do the eating. Always delicious, and this continues to be one of my favorites. Truly a remarkable dish!
food is down grading and the daily special menu price is ridiculously rip off .
Service was fantastic and the food, as always, was delicious!
