Arms Reach Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We were very disappointed with our special date. Food lacked presentation, kitchen was out of the entrees we wanted and service was dreadfully slow. Pork chop was drowned in so much salt it made my wife physically ill afterward. Sorry to write a poor review, but it is the second time we have been really disappointed here.
I've never been disappointed with Arms Reach. The chefs do a great job, especially with the fancier, more pricy dishes. The options are actually quite variable though they seem simple at first glance. The restaurant is cozy and I have always had awesome service. Polite, friendly, and professional. If there is one thing I'd recommend, it would be to spend a bit more time on the more casual dishes in terms of flavor. Salads don't have to be fancy but making sure the dressing isn't too much and the ingredients are sufficient, that makes a huge difference. All in all I'll return in the future and it's a great experience, thanks.
It was a sunny day in deep cove and so I’m so grateful we made a reservation- we were seated right away and thoroughly enjoyed the attentive friendly service and our beautiful eggs bennies (they have the best hollandaise!) I was shocked when we got our bill to see that brunch was half price!! - it was more than worth the regular price we were expecting to pay. Will be back soon!
Loved going to Arms reach. Service friendly and welcoming. Food great and price great.
But - I will not be back because there is only a very tiny amount of parking in Deep Cove and the Deep Cove business owners association has done nothing to improve it.
I came to Gallant Avenue as a child to have ice cream in the very same building that Arms Reach is in... and I do not see anything that has been done by the community of Deep Cove to welcome visitors by adding some parking, SOMEWHERE!
Need to get the district to offer some land or something...otherwise how can the businesses survive?
We had a very bad experience at the restaurant. We booked through Open Table for Dine Out
table reservation. I had contacted the restaurant and informed them this was my wife`s birthday and could it be possible to have a window seat for the occasion and they assured me that they will place this request on their reservation to confirm it.
We arrived 15 minutes early and informed that we had arrived for our 8 o`clock reservation and the receptionist did acknowledge us and we were told to have a seat. While we were seated another waitress asked about us and she was informed we had reservations, then another couple arrived and they were asked if they had reservations and they said no and receptionist proceeded to seat them at a window table. At 5 minutes before eight o`clock another couple arrived and again they were seated before us. Finally at 8 o`clock we were informed our table will be ready in a few minutes and we had to wait another 10 minutes and we were seated at a wall table
The meals we did order were only slightly warm when they did arrive, I had order a seafood pasta and if you call seafood with all but two mussels having nothing in them and two shrimp I guess you can call it seafood
During our meal the people at the next table had several friends stop to chat with them, we had to move all glassware away from the table edge closer to these people because their rear backside were hitting the table and we did not want to have the glasses knocked over. This I know the restaurant had no control over but the ultimate was when the waitress came and and also carried a conversation with them, during this episode she seemed to have a problem with her rear end as she was scratching it in front of our face, after approximately 10 minutes the people left and she turned to us and excused herself because these people were close friends and asked if we need anything
I guess you can say we had a very interesting birthday for my wife
We were seated around 1:00 pm, the server came by our table at 1:05 pm and I was disappointed that the Brunch menu especially on a Sunday ends at 1:00 pm. I was really looking forward to having brunch again at this restaurant. They serve great coffee here; however, the restaurant should extend the Brunch menu to at least 2:00 pm on weekends.
The waitress actually helped me prepare before my guest arrived (special guest!), by serving the dessert that I have prepared beforehand. Everything was fantastic (especially the special guest). However it is quite pricey, except the truly excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. CERTAINLY well worth the price overall. I will be back and I will be back with my Special Friend (if she will have me).
We came a little earlier then what we were supposed to. And unfortunately we had to wait for a table quite long. But with overall experience after, it was worth of my waiting.
We had a server Michael, he is very polite and went above and beyond. Meals were very tasty! It was a good finish of 2017!
We greatly enjoyed our meal at Arm's Reach before heading to the Deep Cove Panto. We had family visiting from out of town and they were very impressed with everything - the food, wine, atmosphere and excellent service. Thank you, Arm's Reach for always being a source of pride for the locals.
This place is a gem! Housemade pasta cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of sauce. The carpaccio and Brussels sprouts were two yummy appies. And the wine - a very well-chosen list in all price ranges with an incredibly fair mark-up. Best place for wine in the Lower Mainland! In the summer, sitting outside and looking out to Deep Cove is spectacular. In the winter, the beautiful tall trees seem to fit in with the rain. We are always happy to return to the Arm's Reach. The challenge with all these great reviews - it is difficult to get a reservation!
The location is perfect, and the ambiance was lovely. It was cozy, yet classy. The server was amazing. She knew why different things were used in each dish, and the desired outcome of the flavour combinations. I will for sure be going back! As a side note, the food was also incredible.
Everything was wonderful except the table of 8 behind us who were actually screaming at each other as if they were at a concert. We complained several times to our server as did the table beside us but I did not hear anyone ask them to tone it down. It was almost impossible to converse with my friend across the table from me. It really did ruin the evening. I have been to your restaurant many times and this is the first time I have had that experience. Not sure if I should have spoken to them myself.
We were disappointed with our meal. The calamari, which used to be our favourite, had thick batter and the dipping tomato sauce was sweet and not spicy as advertised. Not at all what it used to be like. The spaghetti sauce had a strange spice flavour . Service was great.
I have been to the Arms many many times. In the past I had always enjoyed the food. And while the service still remains excellent the “main” dishes have been changed. I had always relied on the “Angry Chicken “ but it had been removed. The other selections were not appealing but tried the Coq au vin”.
Bland and tasteless. I am not enticed to return any time soon.
We went for brunch on a rainy Sunday morning. The brunch options are limited but reasonably priced and nicely presented. The venue is small and intimate with a nice view of the water (we had a window seat) and the service was good, wait staff friendly and competent. All in all a pleasurable experience.
