Everything was fine except for the fact that when the server came to take our order and I placed mine I was advised that I had been given the wrong menu and the meal I was looking forward to could not be provided. We were brought new menus but they turned out to be the wrong ones as well. This all seemed to be a combination of server incompetence and my observation that the lunch and dinner menus are virtually the same colour and not easy to distinguish from one other. Otherwise, the server was fine as was the food.
We had a wonderful time. The Wednesday pasta special was excellent. Look forward to returning.
We've been going there for years, and have always found it to be good value. The food is great and the service friendly & efficient.
Great little find - Deep Cove is the best kept secret in the lower mainland.
Our hostess and server were friendly and helpful with their greetings, seatings, checking on the food and making recommendations. 5 star.
As for the food, we had the beet salad, the red pepper and fennel soup, the calamari and the mussels and fries.
All were delicious but here are our must haves:
The mussels broth with the coconut milk and green curry were worth dunking bread and fries in. The fries had the French feel to them, I think they double deep fry them.
The lightly breaded calamari dipped nicely into the garlic aioli, my wife and I could swear it tasted of Tahini yummy.
The Arms Reach Bistro is consistently an amazing dining experience. The food, service and views make it one of our top spots to eat.
We always love this restaurant but something wasn’t quite up to what we usually experience. Our server was great and the ambience was perfect, but the food was a tad lacklustre. The entree selection seemed limited and the food didn’t live up to the price. Disappointed this time but based on our past experiences, we will go back for one more try. Great service and atmosphere and the view is lovely!
Enjoyable dinner. Good menu. Reasonable prices. No parking.
Birthday - lots of fun and great food and service
My wife ordered the scallops with lentils.... it should be labelled lentils with scallops. Far too much mushy lentils, the amount could easily have been cut in half. Scallops were excellent.
Met a friend visiting from out of town and we both enjoyed the brunch bowls, one the salad, the other the veggie, both with perfectly poached eggs. The fact that we managed to score a parking spot after circling only once didn't hurt! Our server with the delightful French accent made us feel very welcome and took good care of us, constantly refilling our water as we sat and chatted.
Always a pleasure to come to the cove and enjoy a meal by the marina. The service was very pleasant and the food was great. Used to live in the neighbourhood and although it’s been a very long time, I do try to make an effort to come by once in a while, and never disappointed! Always feels like I’m back home!
We were very happy the restaurant was flexible with our reservation when we got stuck in terrible traffic. The vibe of the restaurant is casual and friendly. Overall everyone was happy with their meals. My chicken penne was delicious although it could have been warmer. My dad enjoyed this Father’s Day outing very much.
My family has always enjoyed the Arm’s Reach for great food, wine and service in a stunning location. Unfortunately, our visit on Father’s Day was a great disappointment. The restaurant was extremely hot, no windows open, no fans or air conditioning and incredibly noisy. We were sitting close to the volume controls and observed, with bemused confusion, several people turning the music up and down 5 times (!) during our meal! The food has always been a treat, but not this time: a bland pasta dish, greasy calamari and very stodgy burger was not enough to encourage another visit. What a shame as we loved the previous menus.
Great Fathers Day Lunch!! We frequently go here for special occasions.
The food was delicious, service and ambiance excellent , we thoroughly enjoyed our meal!!
Great food and service. The ARB continues to deliver excellence after all of the years that we’ve gone there. Well done Ali and Eric.
Mediocre at best.
First time I’ve ever given a poor review.
Not what we were expecting for the price point.
Service lacked attentiveness, no pepper offered for Caesar, but was offered 5 mins later at other table. Water refilled for one out of 3 guests. Checked if everything was “good” only at the end. Nice wine list but food was hit and miss.
Cauliflower Ciabatta was great.
Pulled chicken was bland.
Caesar lacked any fresh flavour.
Save $30 on your lunch and go to the Raven Pub instead.
Perhaps dinner is better?
Not as good as usual. Server was very good.
Fabulous, flavourful Lamb special on Sunday night. My sister and I enjoyed our respective dinners so much that neither of us were interested in tasting the other's! (she had the Grilled Jerk Chicken Thighs with Summer Cassoulet and wilted Swiss Chard)
The other thing I always like about the Bistro, besides the consistently beautiful food, is that
you can go dressed to the nines or semi-casual and you're never out of place. Nobody cares! It all works.
Our waiter was awesome too.
Whoever came up with the Lamb special on Sunday, with the chimichurri sauce and morels - Thank you.
Really enjoyed our dinner at the Bistro. Nice table with a view. Friendly and attentive service. Decent selelection of wines by the glass. Orders were delivered quickly and presented attractively. The consensus of our group was that there should be a couple of more choices of entrees on the menu. Would not stop us from visiting again in the future.
I’m not liking your menu lately. Every time I go, it seems that more items that I love are gone. CBC chicken, spicy spaghetti, prawn pasta with swirly noodles, Cobb salad. Where are they all going?. Wild Boar as a special? Doesn’t appeal to me at all. Can you please get back some of the items that many people love? Also, how about more shellfish options? After all, you are a restaurant on the sea... makes sense to sell more seafood.
We love going to Arms Reach. The food is delicious, ambiance is wonderful and they have a great selection of wine.
My friends and I enjoyed some lovely wine and a nice meal prior to the theatre. Service was great. I found the special was a bit pricey though, but tasted good. I would recommend Arms Reach Bistro to my friends for the food, ambiance and service.
We were a group of 8 with a variety of food demands ranging from vegetarian to carnivore. All came away sated and satisified. Our server was superb. The food also. As were the cocktails and wine selection.
The parking puts a damper to the occasion. The steak choice was not good. coconut mussels were much much better the last time than this time.
Very expensive beet salad for the amount of food; was expecting more or some bread with it?
Very disappointing as we live in the Cove and this is one out “go to” places for “walking distance” dinner out.
Food not the best we have had...pasta special and the steak.
Service hurried in terms of timing of dishes ( do not recall the last time an appetizer came this fast or a main course colliding with the appetizer ) seems like we were being hurried out to make way.
Server also ignored us for the longest time.
Not pleasant and now unlikely to return until the off season.
The restaurant food was excellent. The only issue with more frequent visits is the problem with parking in the Cove.
Location is great food is good parking is terrible
Plan 30-45 minutes to get a spot
Amazing Mother’s Day dinner. Excellent mussels and calamari and the recommended wine was perfect! Thanks!
We celebrated Mother's Day at the restaurant and had the Sunday brunch menu - which was excellent. Delightful ambience, very good selection of well-cooked and tasty food (my Crab Benedict was delicious), fairly comprehensive but not overpriced wine selections; friendly, family atmosphere; and great views of beautiful Deep Cove. Perfect setting for lunch and brunch and great for celebrating those special occasions. A special word of praise for our waitress (who had recently started in her job) - she looked after us royally and was very helpful, courteous and fun in every aspect of her job. We all appreciated how well she looked after us. Arm's Reach is highly recommended. Only negative - Deep Cove does not have much public parking, so it was very difficult to find a parking spot close to the restaurant. Leave yourself plenty of time to park, especially in the popular and crowded summer months. It is well worth the effort.
Amazing experience. The food, wine, ambience, and especially our server were outstanding. A unique and special place. A good place for a date because you can walk around deep cove and surrounding area too.
We had lunch at the Arm's Reach on a Saturday. Food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a romantic getaway or even just a family get together. You won't be disappointed. The restaurant gets busy, so I would definitely make reservations!
This is a true neighbourhood gem and absolutely worth the drive. Unlike many "view" restaurants, Arms Reach Bistro offers lovely cuisine and perhaps the most fairly priced wine list in BC. With such a wine list before wine afficionados, it makes sense to go to top bottles!
Wonderful meal, great service. Parking was a bit difficult
I recently took my friend to the Arms Reach for a special birthday celebration. They did not disappoint as is always the case. Food was delicious and ambiance and view unbeatable.
Rather disappointing experience. The menu choices are quite limited, heavy on pasta. Seafood pasta I had was very good, but no Parmesan cheese offered with it. This was provided on request. Expensive salads. The restaurant was extremely noisy, we had 2 larger parties around us, impossible to carry on a conversation.
The location is one of it's best features, but I would rather grab take out and bring it to the park, to avoid the noise.
Always good food and service in a lovely location.
Parking can be tricky so leave enough time.
As always the food was excellent. Parking can be difficult but it is deep cove. The area is great for walking and just sitting outside enjoying the view.
