No one ever brought us menus......I had to leave. I hated it.
We went because the restaurant was closing. Usually we e joy Armandos, but unfortunately the food was mediocre and service poor. I will miss it nonetheless
We live in the area and love to come here for a quiet dinner. The salmon was wonderful and the ceasar salad as well. One of our favorite dishes is the grilled octopus!
Had a very pleasant brunch on Sunday afternoon. Brunch menu is full of good choices and the Prix Fixe Brunch is very good value for money. Any one brunch cocktail + any brunch entree and coffee for $20. Limited outdoor dining .
We had a great dinner. Everything was perfect.
Everything was fine but just not interesting and way over priced
My best friend recommended this place to me to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and it was absolutely AMAZING! It was our first time there so we were kind of lost, but our waiter was so hospitable and took great care of us! He made some awesome recommendations for which bottle of wine to get, as well as which main course would be most satisfying for us based on what we told him we liked. For dessert, they brought out a slice of cheesecake with a lit candle and I sang happy birthday to him. This was overall a perfect and romantic way to celebrate his birthday and we will absolutely be back!
Everything was good and on point. No complaints here
If I could have given zero stars for service (the server in particular) I would have. Have been to Armando’s many times and have never had such poor service as this time.
One of multiple visits. Always a good experience. Local gem. Will return.
Good location and a good ambiance however those were the best things by far. We went for Christmas but they didn’t advertise their fixed menu which was disappointing as their regular menu looked great. Options were limited. Food was just mediocre at $60 a person. The fish dish lacked flavor and I’ve had much better. Quality seemed low. Other party members had steak and agreed it was just okay. Wait staff was fine but kitchen wouldn’t make even the slightest modifications to a plate - for example leaving off a topping for dessert. It was not busy at all and so that was surprising. We bought wine which was two years newer than the menu said and when we casually mentioned it the waiter responded with an attitude saying the menu was just a typo and it didn’t matter. We know Christmas is a hard day to be in the restaurant business but were expecting better from such a high rated place.
Great staff and service....hot fresh food served promptly.
As usual, an excellent outing and dinning experience
The service was great. The waiters were attentive and friendly. I had the lasagna which was really tasty. My mother and I went to Armando's for Christmas dinner. I was surprised that it was not crowded when I arrived. However it allowed for a cozy and quiet dinner. I would go back.
It was OK.. food was good. Not Amazing but good. It was pretty and quiet. Went on a Monday night. I would go back in a pinch. Nothing amazing. I would recommend in a pinch.
food : average nothing extra.
good quality/price ratio
After experiencing noisy restaurants in Manhatten, this was a relief. When in addition the food was good and the service impeccable, it became a great evening. It was also no disadvantage that just a few meters away you had a great view of the whole of Manhatten.
All six in our party rave about the food, drinks, and service at Armando's, where it feels like the 1930's, but tastes like 2017; in other words, Armando's offers an authentic old-Brooklyn ambiance as well as fine food--and at a reasonable price! The goat cheese ravioli was especially delicious, and our waiter was efficient, attentive, and personable. A wonderful evening!
First time at Armando's. We will come again. The food and service is very good.
Great restaurant, really good food (try the olives to start!), excellent service, and you can talk without having to yell--making for exceptional ambiance!! We were a small group celebrating a number of things and it was the perfect setting.
Excellent evening with friends. The food has improved markedly since our last visit. They must have a new chef. If, so it's a quantum leap up from the prior culinary level. AAA+++
Armando's has a truly lovely menu based on Italian cuisine. Five of us had gotten together as a kind of reunion and were there to meet a new member in our circle of friendship. Our waiter John was great, upbeat and attentive. He made very good recommendations. (I know that the chocolate cake dessert was a quite special according to two of our group.) Everyone was very happy with their choices of entree, whether it was fish, pasta or salad. Satisfying on every level! Thanks to all at Armandos! We'll be back soon. Best wishes, Bethany
Armando's is a neighborhood institution with great food, service, and ambience.
Although parking is a horror Dinner with friends was lovely. Service was great ,as this was a 5pm resveration and the resturant was not busy
Wanted to check out local Brooklyn restaurants for future visits. Chose Armandos for location & Italian menu. Sadly, won't make our revisit list. Lasagna was dry, overcooked & obviously refrigerated for much too long before reheating & burning the cheese topping. Salmon special (medium rare at waiters suggestion) was pretty good until center portion seemed underdone. Salmon did not sit well with digestive system later in evening. Seemed like it may be a place for the few locals who wandered in & greeted warmly by barman, but we won't be back.
Food was terrific. Really enjoyed the outside. Though it was sunny, the big umbrellas kept it from being uncomfortable. Had the veal with lemon and capers. Delicious and generous portion. My colleague had the lunch special which is a great deal.
Ps - if my name says JeriLovesYefsi - I can't seem to change that! Sorry
A nice quiet place with great food, food place for a date. The personnel could be more responsive though.
Fabulous food and service!
The lunch special is perfect for me. Cesar Salad and Lasagna, proper portions and excellent food.
Fell in love with this place. Our waiter, John, was outstanding. He was attentive, informed and so much fun. Great service. The food was extraordinary. I had the Carbonara...best ever. Highly recommend this place.
An old favorite that delivers great food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent homemade pasta. Great service and nice wine list.
Besides guy at front door having an attitude everything went well and food was great
I have been going to Armado's for 40 years and have seen it go through many changes. my most recent experiences were good which is why I recommended we go there for Mother's Day. I was very disappointed. We were a party of 10 and were wedged in between a wall and the order machine. There was a constant trail of women going past the table to the ladies room. I did ask that we be moved to another group of tables when we came in but the owner said the tables were reserved. In fact, no one sat there throughout the time we were in the restaurant. My advice - Don't go there for a holiday and make sure your group is smaller than 10.
Horrible! We left because the host was completely rude as well as the server. Didn't even stay for drinks.
We went there for Mother's Day Brunch (at 1:30). We waited for service for quite some time. the restaurant was not busy. When the server arrived, he presented us with the Pre-Fix menu for dinner service and not brunch, which was $20 more per head than the brunch menu . When I noticed this error, he said, "oh you wanted the brunch one, sorry". It was an obvious attempt to sell us on a more expensive menu. It took forever for our drinks to arrive and when they did, my 13 year old daughter's drink was alcoholic. Our appetizers arrived and my daughter's burratta had a large piece of the plastic packaging on it, and the cheese was HORRIBLE. The lamb meatballs that I got were obviously frozen and so rubbery that they were almost inedible. Now for the entrees: I ordered steak and poached eggs - the steak was grisly and way overcooked. I ordered medium rare and got medium well and my one of my poached eggs was more like hard boiled. My daughter had the same plate with the exact same experience. My wife ordered eggs Benedict and her eggs were the same, and the Bearnaise sauce had so much tarragon in it that it tasted like she was eating a bush. She sent her food back and did not get anything additional to replace it. At no time did a manager ever come to the table and speak to us. This was a complete disaster of a Mother's Day brunch and I will NEVER patronize this place again.
Historic dinning with a great neighborhood feel. Top notch staff, food and care. Try the Veal. Perfect spot to walk to the water before or after dinner. Great Brownstone walk-ups.
The food at Armando is consistently good. The ambiance needs a lot of improvement: the place looks so dark and dingy. it is never crowded.
The bartender always makes my perfect dirty martini- the calamari is always fresh and top notch- the range of entrees accommodate everyone and they are well done. It's a place I can count on for a good meal for anyone in my family and they are always happy to go there.
