This place is amazing in every category. Massimo is the Owner/Manager, and makes certain your visit is up to your standards. Every time I have been there he has gone out of his way to say hello and make sure everything is okay. I would drive an hour to go to this place if needed. As a customer, I understand things won't necessarily always be perfect, but knowing that management will give 150% no matter what, makes me want to return to this place time and time again. Simply fantastic service and the food is amazing.

The food is fantastic! Service is attentive however service level slips a little when all tables occupied. The restauant has a great feel, very comfortable. Massimo-the owner is hands on and a constant presence.

We had made a last minute reservation and was so happy to dine at this amazing restaurant. The owner was very gracious,
the food was fabulous and the service was fantastic.
We wanted to sit at the bar and we started with the green fig appetizer which, I believe, was stuffed with mascarpone and wrapped with prosciutto and baked in the oven. It was delicious.
I had the shrimp and asparagus risotto and my SO had the lobster pasta. Both were perfectly cooked. I had some lovely wines that were suggested by the bartender.
I would certainly return and have been recommending Aria to all my friends.
Keep up the great work!

When you are the type that feels that every night should be a special night, just head to Aria. Its cozy enough to be spontaneous about, but unique enough to feel really special. I guess what I mean is its an easy place to get a special meal. The staff is great., courteous and knowledgeable. Food was just fabulous! North end ambiance right outside. Wonderful evening. Thanks, Aria!

We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. We made reservations on Open Table and specified then that we would do the tasting menu with the wine. As soon as we walked both the owner/manager and waiter were very accommodating and attentive. The food was very good with no missteps. Extras were included including Limoncello and a dessert. Very small venue that is well priced. Not your mom and pop North End "red sauce" place to eat but not so upscale that you would not relax and feel like you were part of the family.

Hidden on the second floor , this tiny spot was a nice surprise. We had reservations for 5 people but needed to add one more on short notice and they were accommodating. Food and service were great. The lemoncello shrimp app was our favorite. Noise level was high due to brick walls, packed tables and low ceiling but overall a good experience. When they found out it was a birthday celebration , we were surprised with a huge piece of decadent chocolate cake and a serenade. Wonderful end to a great evening.

We have several N. End favorites and tired Aria on the recommendation or two people. The atmosphere is great, especially at the window. We split a few apps, a pasta, and the side of broccoli. The mushroom ravioli was awesome. All the dishes were unique, a twist on traditional. I would say that while the lobster flatbread had a ton of lobster on it, the crust was a bit soggy. We ended up eating the topping off and leaving the bread. We probably wont order that again. Finally, the limoncello shrimp was really delicious. Will definitely go back.

...but ONLY if you have restaurant-savvy kids. We went on busy sat night with 4 kids (ages 3-12) who know to stay in their seats, keep voices down, show respect. (NOT the place for kids who get up a lot or are loud, due to tight quarters.) Waiter was gracious, attentive, and "spot on" with wine recs. We couldn't decide between the fresh fig and house made salumi antipasti, so they worked up a combo platter. The kids swear the meatballs were the best they ever had (they have sampled many!). The bolognese with house made pasta, ossobucco and swordfish were all perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Kids had plain spaghetti. Overall this is one of the best meals I have ever eaten in the North End. We will certainly be back.

Aria Trattoria has everything you want from a dining experience in the north end that you so rarely get. This was my second time dining here. The food is of high quality, each time. Pasta is home made and al dente and the pork -- two different pork dishes -- just fell off the bone -- moist and tasty. Salads and vegetables are fresh and outstanding and the polenta was clean and light not heavy and dense like so many other restaurants who try to serve this. Our waiter was attentive, fun and oh so pleasant. We will return here again and again! Bolognese! A'matriciana bucatini! Dining on the second floor overlooking Hanover Street -- beautiful window seat above the hustle of a Saturday night!

Service was great, friendly and knowlageble. Food was outstanding especially for an Italian like me that cooks and generally doesnt consider Italian restuarant food that authentic. This spot will statisfy even the most demanding critic!
Ciao!

My friends and I went as we received a gift certificate after raising over 5k for a local pet charity. It's a very cute spot on Hanover St and we immediately made some new friends at the bar who told us about the shrimp appetizer which was fabulous. I thought the place overall was great, noisy as the night wore on like most of the NE. My only mistake was ordering a rib eye for dinner which was almost too fatty to eat but the truffle fries it came with were great.

The restaurant has a lot of charm potential. However, the noise level is extremely high, because the decor has lots of wood and little noise-absorbing properties. Also, we were there on a Friday party with a large party that included (unsupervised) children(running around - the staff did nothing) and the wait staff seemed oblivious that our party had to practically yell at each other to carry on a conversation and ask the waiter twice, to repeat what he said. The food is ok, but not special by North End standards. Nice wine list, nice staff but not a place I'd rush to go to again.

This restaurant bought out Marcos last December. We were disappointed since Marcos has been our favorite in Boston. Their Bolognese sauce was other-worldly! However, we thought we would give Aria a try anyway. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. The serve was mediocre at best, selections were limited and though the pasta with Bolognese sauce was their special, it was plan "common"! We need to scratch this off our restaurant list for the North End, good thing there are many more to choose from.

Aria delivered fine Italian food - not always easy to find. We were greeted at the door by Massimo the owner, and later reviewed the menu with him. We opted for the Chef's tasting menu - three courses, each a surprise. They delivered a different plate for me and my friend so we were able to try six dishes. The osso buco was divine.

My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion recently and had a wonderful dinner at Aria. Their featured wine was from a winery we had just visited and was a perfect match for our dinner. The Amatriciana was perfectly al dente and was very similar to the one we had in Rome. Our porchetta and veal second courses were excellent and the accompanying broccoli rabe was delicious. Our service was also flawless. We would highly recommend Aria Trattoria!

I truly hope that this restaurant can rise to the occasion. Visited on first day and it was outstanding

. Visited the other night and was very disappointed with food. Way over seasoned with garlic, etc. Lamb was old and inedible. Chicken had too much spicing - again garlic and other things going on. Left with overpowering spices in our bellies - not in a good way.

This was so much better the first visit! Italian food in Italy is much more subtle. Did the the kitchen staff change?
I write this review with love and hope - please - this restaurant can be great!

Our dinner at Aria Trattoria was very noisy and that kind of ruined our dinner. We wanted a romantic dinner, but could hardly hear each other talk. Our table was right near the door so we got pushed about a bit. Other tables overlook Hanover Street and are lovely. It is a very pretty restaurant. We've been here in its former lives at Marco and Scalinatella. The food is good, not great.

A welcome spot to the neighborhood and a step above most of the typical Italian American restaurants. If you want a more traditional Italian meal with a touch of Greek influences (actually similar to what you would find in some southern Italian regions) this is it - simply delicious. Thanks Massimo!

After hearing that Marcos will shut its door after the 23rd of December I dug up an
old gift certificate. Last year we ventured to the North end- to Marcos- and were not too impressed. However, this time we were very pleased...Fried Calamari with Spicy Peppers- very good. My Cavatelli Sausage and Tomato Sauce- very tasty. My husband's Bolognese very satisfying... the service could not be nicer or more attentive. We were satisfied, and that is not simple. Hearing that Marcos will shut its door on the 23rd, now disappoints...casual atmosphere, generous portions, and tasty food. This is the way to go out and be remembered.

Ciao Marcos

This was our second visit. I was really looking forward to the Tag. Bolognese, as this was an outstanding dish on our first visit. Although good, it was a bit overdone and not the perfection that it was the first time. Cavatelle was a bit overspiced and not as well balanced as it could have been. The fritters were okay, but not spectacular.
We went on Weds. evening (halloween) and it was almost empty, nice and quiet (a good thing). Our first visit was on a weekend evening and it was packed and a bit hard to have a conversation.
Overall, still one of the better restaurants in the NE (we live in the neighborhood and have tried most of the local places).
