Letty was terrific!
Excellent cuisine; somewhat pricey but well worth the money. Service outstanding!
Met up with my parents while we were in the area. We were hoping to have a nice steak lunch. We didn’t realize only brunch is available on the weekends.
Food was good and the view was excellent, overlooking the putting green and lake.
Would be wonderful if a lunch menu was available on the weekends.
Argyle’s food, Service and ambiance is perfect for lunch, dinner and any occasion you have in mind. I have been enjoying this fabulous spot for over 16 years and highly recommend it.
Last minute dinner reservation. Directions on OpenTable website were incorrect. We called Argyle as we were late. They held the table. We were seated in a small area with four tables for two. Filets were good. Spring Pea side was unusual and very good. Popovers were a pleasant surprise. Bar drinks were well crafted.
Food and service were both amazing! I highly recommend the filet and the asparagus.
The restaurant is like a banquet hall. For a high-end steakhouse, nothing about. The steak was so so. The place has no ambience whatsoever.
Mother's Day brunch. $98/ person. Average food. Prime Rib like shoe leather. Decent choice of seafood. Average omelet station. Very good dessert choices. Overall decent but way overpriced! $98 doesn't even cover mimosas ($20) extra.
The steaks were good but the sides were nothing to write home about.
Pricey... great food...above excellent service. We had one of our party, who had to go pick up his daughter, before the meal was served. We told the staff. The rest of our food was served timely. His food arrived within a few minutes of him returning, steak still perfectly medium rare, and all the food hot… And the root beer for his daughter. Staff could not have handled it better!
Not a pleasant experience. The kitchen and waiter staff were short on during the time of our lunch. Food presentation was great but was not a value for the amount on the plate.
Food was delicious, expensive, but delicious!! We enjoyed the water view and the service was very attentive.
Just a wanna be upscale restaurant inside an hotel. Carpet on the floor like in the seventies, chewy bison and overcooked sea bass
Great food! Very fresh! Sophisticated ambiance and very friendly staff!
Awesome food and view. Yay!
The smell inside was terrible. It smelled like raw sewage. It was even more disgusting in the bathroom. The hostess claimed not to smell anything and then said maybe it was the lagoon. Funny thing for it to be the lagoon when the smell was only on the inside of the building not outside where the lagoon is.
Argyle Steakhouse has excellent food and the staff and service is excellent as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for a great steak and wine menu.
We recently stayed at 4 Seasons, Aviara & celebrated multiple bday milestone: 13, 50, 60, 78, & mom's 95th! Love Carlsbad & come here 5-6x each year. Dining at Argyle is a must, especially following a 30+ person party. Steaks were really amazing. This is the place in Calf. that you will always get an amazing steak. We ordered 8 oz. filets, so flavorful, & usually cooked to perfection, but one was really undercooked. (I'd rather have an undercooked than overcooked.) We skipped the optional crust seasonings (we feel it masks the meat flavor) and shared 3 sauces instead: the wine sauce, the Argyle sauce (like a Worchestershire), and my fave., the Bernaise. We also ordered 3 sides for the 4 of us - women - and it was plenty. (Sides are a la carte.) We ordered charred green beans (so overly spicy that we had to send back), a great baked potato, and asparagus to replace the green beans *but the asparagus never came. With a bottle of Justin Cab. for the table, we were set for a lovely dinner. BTW, It begins with their infamous and complimentary pop-overs. The best I've had. Here's my one very negative comment and something I cannot tolerate: the main waiter (good looking male, 30's, dark hair) was snobby and condescending throughout our meal and we almost asked for a new waiter, but that would have been embarrassing for everyone. "Snobby waiters" should not even be in any statement or any review at any restaurant - and especially the Argyle. Was he disappointed that he got all women? Women not on a company budget, who weren't 30? Who knows! buy your mind goes places..and funny thing, we always leave over 20% tip. It's just annoying, hurtful, and very, very disappointing. The 2nd waiter (maybe Thomas or Tommy?) saved the day with his very thoughtful and friendly nature. Finally, we ended our meal with a lovely, complimentary birthday dessert plate shown in photos. Also featured are the 60 and 95 year old celebrants!
Wonderful spot and the food was generally good but the service, which started out fine became bad as the meal went along. Had to ask for everything. Waiter was either too busy or didn't care.
Had the bone in ribeye and it was delicious. Sat outside next to heaters so it was very comfortable on a fairly cool night. Bar was noisy with golfers celebrating after their game but it was very quiet outside. We loved it. Oh and the popovers-so good
STILL THE BEST IN AND OUT OF TOWN. WHEN WE FEEL LIKE THE BEST, WE DRIVE THE 75 MILES EACH WAY AND IT IS WELL WORTH IT. IF YOU WANT THE BEST WAITER, ASK FOR ERIC.
DONALD AND JOJO
This was our 4th dinner at the Argyle in the last six months. We enjoyed this restaurant for the first time during the dine around San Diego event last year. The restaurant is within a mile of our home and in the ten years we've lived here, we were unaware of it....we're making up for lost time. The Argyle has fast become one of our favorite places to dine. The service is outstanding, the food wonderful.....enjoyable for a middle of the week dinner, or a special occasion.
Grest waiter and the food presentation and taste was wonderful. Loved the popovers
Excellent food, steak especially, but definitely an expensive special occasion. Quiet, but fairly casual atmosphere. Service adequate, not outstanding. Would come again, but not often.
Always a delight to spend my birthday with wonderful friends at one of my very favorite north SD coastal venues. The Argyle never disappoints.
Extremely noisy and overrun with babies & small kids on a Friday night! They need to make the dining room much quieter to allow for friends to visit. This is too elegant a place to be limited to feeding your face!
Usually a lovely restaurant. This time I made the mistake of ordering the Buffalo Chicken Salad. What came wasn't a salad but fried chicken strips uncut on lettuce with no dressing. The dressing was smeared around the outside of the plate. I asked to have it as a salad and they tossed it. When they returned it the tough chicken strips were STILL uncut. I sent it back to be cut into the salad - isn't a "salad" supposed to be cut up??? And no mention on the menu that the chicken was fried - Ugh!
Obviously the menu needs more explanation as another friend at the table got seafood fried on a salad though no mention on the menu. Menu needs upgrading.
Usually this restaurant is superb. This time I ordered soup. When it came it wasn't even warm. I sent it back to be warmed. After a long time - 10 -15 minutes it was delivered - still barely warm!!! My guess is that a cook rewarmed it and then left it sitting to be picked up long after. They need to coordinate better.
Excellent service by Jesse! I could not have been more impressed. The food was more or less okay. We ordered two filet mignon, the seafood rice, a twice baked potato and the lobster mac and cheese. My steak was great and my fiancee's was a tad bit burnt on the edges. The lobster mac and cheese was just okay (look up leucadia pizzeria for the best lobster mac and cheese) and the twice baked potato was not very flavorful. Overall, Jesse's service really made our night and we would like to thank him for it. The chocolate cake was delicious!
Always a relaxing, happy place to connect and unwind. And the staff are kind and very on top of things.
Liked the decor a lot...nice cocktail choices. I felt the appetizers were a bit sparse. Had the hamachi and it was ok. Service was good and attentive. Lots of steak choices ....ordered the bone in ribeye. Being from Chicago this is the go to cut for most of the top steakhouses and you usually can't go wrong. I felt this steak was first of all very thin and not what I'm used to for a prime ribeye. While you expect a bit more fat/marbleing this was a bit excessive. The taste was good but overall disappointing. Chose the house worcester sauce and it was underwhelming. Would definitely return but would probably try the filet. You choose your own knife which I thought was a nice touch.
Very posh. No parking available due to recent golf tournament. Park far away and walk or take a shuttle. Huh. Interesting combination of ambitious menu, occasionally well-executed offering (popovers, eg) “conspicuous curation” (steak knife concierge...) but overdone premium priced steak and slow, inattentive service. Curious. Also, outrageously expensive.
The food was fantastic and our waiter Matthew was wonderful too! Loved the chocolate cake dessert! Also the popovers were delicious .
This is one of our few favorite restaurants. The staff always greets you upon arrival and goes out of their way to provide excellent service. This along with the excellent menu and quality of food. We dine there usually at least once a week when we are in town.
We have dined at Argyle many times as we always enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. When we dined there on Monday evening (table of 7) for my son's 19th birthday, we were not as impressed as previous times. The mussels appetizer was AH-MAY-ZING! The popovers never disappoint. The sides were also very good! I ordered the skirt steak with prawns which I have ordered before. The steak was ordered and prepared medium rare. The flavor was not at par. No char crust, the cut was tough and more like a sirloin than a skirt steak. I was skeptical that I got the right cut of meat. The prawns were in a cream sauce, and I therefore couldn't eat them. I asked the server which sides had no dairy and he recommended the brussel sprouts which were delicious. He should have told me that the prawns were in cream sauce and I would have gone with a different choice. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinners but I didn't hear the usual "OMG, this is SO GOOD". We will continue to dine at Argyle but maybe not on Mondays?
Great service and staff!!
Great steaks and attentive waiter. We were a bit disappointed in the $35 corkage fee. My wife and I had ordered drinks, apps, steaks, and dessert. The $35 fee seems excessive.
Waiter not well versed in food or wine and was over sat. 10 min to even approach us...another 20 min to get drinks.
Food was SO salty...there were 4 of us and all of our meals were terrible.
We had an amazing dinner for my birthday, with Karen as our waitperson. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. The dinner was DELICIOUS! West knows how to do food!! It is a bit noisy so not the best for tons of intimate conversation--but you can talk. Birthdays--OF course the best place.
