Fantastic evening with my husband and son. Wanted to have a special early holiday dinner before the craziness begins and we sure did.
Unhappy that the menu no longer offered calamari! But Louis, our waiter, was wonderful.
A consistently terrific steakhouse . A hidden gem in Carlsbad and not given enough credit for the excellent level of food and service.
We were dissatisfied with our table location and the staff was not particularly receptive to changing the table location. Considering the prices and reputation of the restaurant, the tables were bare and had no table cloth or place mats. There were to flowers or other decorations that one would expect from a restaurant like this.
Finally, for a simple standard Thanksgiving dinner, the price was very high and was not advertised in advance.
I have had much better experiences for less money.
Thanksgiving buffet just great.
I expected considerably more for the cost.
The service, while friendly, was mediocre at best. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. Ordered 5 Oz Wagyu, they cut it in half AFTER cooking it. Of course this is going to result in all the juice to run out. Sure enough a dry Wagyu steak??!!
Considering the price range of this place, get some white table cloths! Is this Outback Steakhouse? Probably would have had a better steak, more money in my pocket, and better experience had I gone there instead.
We loved Argyle! The service was stellar. The food was excellent- I had swordfish with a lemon butter sauce. We shared the sides among the group. The popovers are worth the trip ( served instead of bread or rolls). We had a party of 8 and had our own private dining area.
If you go for happy hour be sure to order the Asian chicken wings and truffles popcorn.
It is always a pleasure seeing Letty. She is terrific!
The popovers were amazing! Our server was very helpful and attentive.
Excellent as always. Arygyle never disappoints with its steak and service.
Our steaks were cooked to perfection and service was excellent. Only very slight flaw...the cushioned bench seating. Not comfortable on the lower back. Will opt for a table with chairs only next time.
Great food. However, if you are looking for a romantic setting this is not it. Not a booth in the restaurant and very little privacy. However the food was excellent...
Excellent Food, Service, Restaurant, allways on my list, when in Carlsbad!
Jesse did another wonderful job. We come just to see him and have him take care of us. A shout out to Kat for checking in on us.
We went to Argyle as local first timers to explore their restaurant week menu. The food was great, but we felt like our server did not give us regular attention (did not check in after we got our food). We felt like we didn’t get the regular level of attention because we weren’t spending as much as other tables.
Food was excellent, service was attentive but not "classy" to match the setting and the menu. (At our table for four, server stood beside one guest and reached around and across to deliver items to all four.) That's poor training, not so much the fault of the server. Not a deal-breaker, but disappointing.
Celebrated my husband’s birthday, which happened to fall during restaurant week. Everyone loved the food!
Fantastic meal from appetizer to desert.
Had a wonderful time. Would be back again. Excellent service and beautiful outdoor view.
Four of us went during the first day of the San Diego Restaurant week and had that menu.....it wasn't much different from the regular menu. The ceviche was very fishy and we could not eat. The pazole was good. The turkey sandwich was dry with 2 thin pieces of turkey on hard bread. The bread and butter were good. The dessert that came with the 2 course lunch was about 1/4 the size of a normal piece of cake...not worth the price of the restaurant week menu. The service was good and waiter was very helpful. The view was nice. I had noted it was for an anniversary....no one even mentioned that during the entire lunch.
First time here but it won’t be the last. The steaks are fabulous outdone only by the service. We had a party of 6 and everyone raves about their food. Try the s’mores cake if you have room. To die for!
Started off rough but the staff saved our server.
Value was ok not great
A few details were done well and a few not so well
Overall good to very good
This was for my husband’ birthday. Food and atmosphere are always amazing!
We enjoyed our dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We each had steak and it was cooked to perfection. They have a variety of side sauces and they were delicious and did not overwhelm the taste of the beef.
Excellent restaurant, great food and service, beautiful location, and gorgeous room decor
First rate service as always. Overlooks the lagoon. Recommend it.
Always outstanding. A special occasion must.
Lovely setting overlooking the bataquitos lagoon. Great for lunch outside when the weather is nice. Food is standard and decent for lunch. I can’t speak as to the quality of the steakhouse as we were there for lunch.
75thbday dinner. Everything was great. Ryan did a wonderful job.
I dig this place, great steaks and service always. it is one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions.
The food is always good and the service is excellent. Outside dining on the patio is wonderful and
the umbrellas serve as good protection from the sun. This is my favorite place to come for
birthday celebrations and out of town guests are always impressed by the dining experience.
Always great food and service.
Great setting and delicious food! We went there for my husband’s birthday and were treated nicely.
Surprised at the fantastic location, service and food that awaited us at the Argyle. It was a last minute change to our night and they were so accommodating! I would highly suggest trying them out.
Great food but the ambiance was not that great. The furniture looked like the lunch cafeteria at a golf course and my seat was so old! I had to use my sweater under my rear to feel comfortable. There was a disconnect between the delicious high end food and the shabby old furniture. I paid over $100 for a 4ounce steak alone and the atmosphere felt like a golf club at brunch.
The negatives out weigh the positives and I would not return. Positives: Excellent service and food. Negatives: 1. The corkage was $35.00, which is an insult. I don't care what other restaurants charge, this is an insult. $20.00 is plenty. 2. Noise was very high. This place needs acoustic tiles in the ceiling. 3. A large family group - three families and half a dozen kids were placed in a large table at the center of the location rather than the very back. As might be expected, the children had not been trained on "inside voices." Very noisy kids with parents ignoring them, which is distracting and really interfered with our enjoyment of the meal. Being a resort affiliated restaurant is no excuse. Put groups like this at the back. 4. A restaurant that has the best quality of beef available, which provides the opportunity to choose from four types of steak knives should have table cloths. I suspect that the knives were a holdover from prior management. A resort typically has their own laundry services; get table cloths and a new manager. The chef deserves better management support.
It was great as always. The best place to get a great steak in North County.
We went there for a Birthday Dinner for my wife. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the 18th hole and lagoon. Our waiter, Jesse, was fantastic. Attentive and friendly but not too much.
The crab corn chowder was outstanding. My filet was a bit overcooked and just ok. The choices of sauces and rubs were great.
Overall a great place for a special occasion.
Steak was devoid of any juice or flavor as it apparently had been baked in oven. Its exterior had been coated with some rub that had a slight burn taste. The steak's appearance closely matched the leather menu cover! Salad was served in 1/4 Romaine lettuce heads. Flatware doesn't cut it. They should have cut it up or provided steak knives for the purpose. Serving food in iron cooking utensil is unattractive. I didn't know it was campfire cooking. It certainly qualifies as a Resort Rip-Off!
The chef over works the food. Popovers great but NOT with p-butter weird spread.Wedge salad not good. Steak not juicy etc.
