Argyle Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Go every year for my friend's birthday. This year we found a very limited lunch menu, very noisy, and service was very slow. We sat inside but normally we sit outside so maybe the dining room is quite noisy always. Unfortunately, we'll have to find another restaurant for her birthdays.
I have been going to this place since it opened. My wife and I got married there. There are changes like anywhere but I have to talk about this. Since they opened I have ordered the eye of rib every time. Now the price has gone up $5 at once a once. This is just over the top and a 4 once steak cost over $100.
Again I know things need to change but or visit to our favorite place won't be as often.
Very disappointing evening. Had a 6:30 reservation before a loud corporate event flowed down from the hotel. We were surrounded by 2 large tables of guests. Even the waiters needed to shout. No matter how good the steak my evening was ruined and I’ll never come back again. Too many options for dining in SanDiego to spend my evening at Argyle.
Excellent meal. Great location for a special occasion. Really fine service. We would have preferred dining earlier than Open Table showed available; dining was nearly empty when we did arrive early, and were promptly seated. We will definitely return and with guests.
We always attend Restaurant Week at the Argyle with our good friends and have for years. This year did not disappoint as it was fabulous as always. Jesse was our server and he was outstanding ... funny and knew the menu and wine list very well. Very attentive as well. The food was outstanding and a great value for the $50.00 Restaurant Week pricing. We all had the spinach salad as a starter and it was delicious. Three of us had the filet and one had the salmon. The filet was seasoned to perfection and perfectly cooked. The salmon melted in his mouth. The accompanying sides (their signature tater tots and creamed spinach) are always delicious. The desserts offered were a berry tart and a smores delicacy and both were simply perfection. The details like the hot popovers delivered to you before dinner, your choice of steak knives, the "bottled" water ... all add up to a wonderful dining experience. We love this restaurant and give it an A+ rating!
Great place with lots of selections if you like steak. This was the first time I got to chose what kind of knife I wanted to cut my steak. As nice as this place was it was surprising to see such a casual dress code. It being San Diego restaurant week made it worth the visit.
Very good restuarant-- 5 stars for San Diego (I didn't by thinkbthere are any 5 stars restuarants in San Diego). My warm spinach salad had correct temperature. Fresh sautéed peaches were good but not ripe enough. The bacon was outstanding-- thick slab, exactly well cooked, outstanding. My luncheon partner had the tuna salad. Again excellent -- generous pieces of fresh tuna (seared with red interior) and fresh Romain lettuce. Setting is very nice -- over looking Batiquitos Lagoon. Great place for lunch or dinner.
Went for SD Restaurant Week and it just wasn't a food deal at all. I think SDRW is when you should show off, look your best, and make people want to return, again and again. We got a Cobb salad and a TINY creme brulee each, neither of which was presented attractively and which, while, tasty, were NOT worth $20. This was a $15 lunch at best. Also the service felt rushed at the beginning, yet slow and ponderous at the end.
We took our friend to dinner for her 90th birthday, and Argyle could not have made it a better experience. Our wonderful server wished her Happy Birthday as soon as we arrived and catered to her food requests in every way. The tables are spaced so the experience feels comfortable and private. The food is delicious. My favorite was a seasonal corn side dish. The food is always very good, and but the service is always outstanding. It is pricey, but worth it for a special dinner.
Dining al fresco was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. The patio was perfect and candlelight added to the ambiance.
I enjoyed the flatiron steak- with green peppercorn cognac sauce alongside. It was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth.
My fiance had the filet with bernaise sauce. He also enjoyed every bite.
The sides were not as perfect-- the creamed spinach was a bit salty, and the cheese-tater tots were not good at all (strange consistency and off flavor) and our waiter took them off our bill.
The waiter was so personable and we had a glass of wine poured for us in celebration.
Dessert of creme brulee and sample of gelatos were delicious.
Thenak you for a memorable evening!
I ordered Bison well done, it came out bloody red. Others in my group had filet mignon, flat iron, and other types of steaks. They did all of it well, but mine. Great thing was their ability to remove mine from the bill. Service was slow and not attentive despite quality of resturant.
Buffalo steak was not cooked as ordered. Replacement was swiftly provided. No chorizo in saffron seafood rice. Waiter was eager to please but left our group unattended at times. We have had great experiences here in the past; tonight did not meet that same standard. We will return at some point, hoping that our experience will return to former standard.
Nice steakhouse with a classy yet casual atmosphere. We sat outside and it was comfortable with a great view of the 18th hole. The popovers were a nice touch as well as the "choose your own knife for your steak"presentation. Personally enjoyed the corn chowder and the bison. Sadly, we weren't offered any dessert...not that we need it but if it was as good as the food, I would have splurged.
Service was slow to first attend to table, server a bit hyper and four very loud guys pleased at a table right next to us when every other table was open.
We asked for accommodation and left table for another. The rest of the evening went well and the meal was very good.
