A heated patio provides a comfortable way to enjoy outdoor dining in the Presidio and features accents that connect today’s experiences to the historic Presidio, including an outdoor comal (griddle) for tortilla making.
We ordered the chips, salsa and guacamole for starters then the tacos octopus tacos and chicken tosquitos and the short ribs platter.
The starter was ample for the three of us and the home made chips and salsa was delicious.
All dishes were so good.
I had the short ribs and the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth.
Out server Anastasi was awesome.!we will definitely be back
Disaointed with greasy chips that came with guacamole.
With well know chef, should not happen.
However entrées were good, as well as the service.
Fantastic atmosphere and great guacamole. Definitely going back.
I had a very frustrating experience trying to reach someone at Arguello to let then know that we should be late. my friend was stuck at the car rental place at the airport not going to make it to our 7 PM reservation time. I could not reach anyone to tell them and didn't want to loose our reservation. I had to go alone to hold the table and wait nearly an hour for my friend to arrive. I wish they had a phone number on their website or a way to contact the restaurant directly
We had a limited amount of time and the waitstaff was very accommodating. We ordered a few appetizers and split an entree. The food was delicious and service was excellent
Great small plates & margaritas: chicken taquitos, empanadas, guacamole, etc. Larger plates are good, but not fabulous. Service was very good also.
Brunch was really really good and it is now on my brunch rotation. I had no idea their brunch was that good or I would have gone sooner. I only wish our server would have been a little more engaging. She didn't seem like she wanted to be there and it put a bit of a damper on the brunch that I thought was otherwise perfect.
Food was mediocre and staff was not welcoming or friendly. The best part of the experience was visiting the attached museum and walking the grounds.
Food was outstanding! We shared the guacamole and several small plates. Recommend the ceviche and grilled octopus. Delicious food and amazing flavors! Sat next to Diane Keaton. It doesn’t get much better than that :-) Enjoy!!!
Only bad thing was that our car was broken into as well as 5 others in the restaurant parking lot. Be sure to take any valuables with you!
There are few restaurants in San Francisco that will seat a large group (12) in the midst of the holidays; we know this because we have difficulty every year. Nonetheless, Arguello accommodated us and we were very delighted by the deliciously fresh and authentic cuisine, the decor, ambiance and service. By far it was the best choice for our family dinner tradition, 7 years and counting. Unfortunately, the night ended on a terribly unfortunate note as our cars as well as several others were broken into in the restaurant’s parking lot. Several hundreds of dollars to fix broken windows and replace stolen property was the aftermath. Nonetheless, we’d still advise this is a restaurant worth Ubering to.
Wonderful San Francisco find! Great food and service. Price was surprisingly reasonable for a SF restaurant. Very creative food that was delicious.
excessive noise made conversation impossible; the renovated spaces in the building are well done
Great location and food was good. Service can be a bit slow but it is usually pretty busy here. Chips were a bit greasy but other than that upscale taqueria food with cocktails.
It’s my birthday week! Loved this restaurant. I had the duck. Yummy! Flan was housemade and so good! Thank you!!
Loved it! Good value for fresh Mexican food. Intimate atmosphere, very good service.
We adored the guacamole!
We had the chips and guacamole on the table quite a while before getting silverware and napkins. We were rushed to order. They were out of two main courses. The food was hastily set down on the table without clearing a space for it. One plate nearly toppled the salsa bowl.
Thank you for enhancing our evening with my grandson and his friend. Celebrating a birthday with you was fun!
We love Arguello. The location feels like you are sneaking outside of the normal hustle and bustle. Parking is easy, food is excellent and the mezcal options are top notch. The chips are easily the best in the city as well!
Tasty food. Great cocktails. Nice outdoor seating.
It was a great catch a place to have dinner before the USO dance at the officers club next-door. The service was fast, the cocktails were delicious, and the small plates were very deep and tasty, especially the empanadas and the dish with “impossible chorizo”. The atmosphere was cozy, and there is an inviting looking out door patio which would be delightful to experience during the day sometime. We would definitely return!
We love this place. If you are a tequila lover you have to see their stash. We usually just order the house margaritas, but this time we decided to experiment with the different kinds of Tequilas and there really is a difference. Our waitress was very knowledgable and we learned a lot. My favorite thing on the menu is their pizole verde- a delicious Mexican soup- enough to have as a meal. And their chips and guacamole are fabulous.
Service was slow. Food was okay but overpriced.
Portions are way too small. Chips are greasy but will fill you up before your small entree. Also, it's very expensive.
Fantastic Tequila and great menu, love the food and service is awesome too.
Close to the New Presidio Theater for after dining entertainment.
Consistently delicious. The drinks are great and the staff is friendly.
Really loved the non standard but familiar Mexican cuisine. Great guacamole!!! I loved the short ribs and my friend really enjoyed the fish. Their flan is creamy and delicious with just the right amount of cajeta. I love the idea that for dinner they focus on a specific region in Mexico. Charming and comfortable. Parking is a piece of cake, so nice if you are meeting people there.
The food was very good. We arrived at 1:15 on a Sunday afternoon, looking for lunch but they were still serving brunch. We shared the salsa and guacamole (chips were great and the tow varieties of salsa and guacamole were good and I thought there was a good quantity for the price. We share the two tacos, which were also good. My only suggestion would be more small plates choices.
I was most pleased that the prices were quite reasonable especially this is a restaurant in a park. The building is worth a visit and includes a small history museum.
I would definitely return.
Great food conveniently located in the Presidio Officers' Club. Would definitely go back
Sergio was fantastic. Sunday brunch was not hectic at all. Also, holy crap you can order margarita's to-go!
Everything fresh and delicious. Service excellent. Cadre exceptional!
Very cool location in the middle of Presidio. Highly recommended.
Amazing food, our server was wonderful.
Lots of gluten free and vegetarian options ( but also plenty for my omnivorous husband)
We were there early enough that there were quite a few kids and it was pretty loud but not unbearable.
Unfortunately, when we arrived on Sunday, September 29, at 11:30, we were told the restaurant had list power and they didn’t know when it would come back on. Waitstaff was very apologetic and offered to bring us guacamole, chips, and drinks. The guacamole was delicious, as were the chips. We enjoyed our drinks, but ultimately decided to find someplace else to have lunch.
We will come back. We understand this was an unforeseen event and we felt bad for your employees who were very concerned and very professional.
We had brunch today, rancho huevos and the sweet potato hash. I couldn't resist the chips and guacamole. A margarita would have been great too.
Fabulous food and service.
Fabulous fresh food, guacamole was pure and delicious, nothing added to spoil it. Margarita selection was perfect, and fresh cod was amazing.
Great food and cocktails. Very authentic Mexican flavors
We had an early Saturday brunch here (11:30am), and so were able to be seated on the patio. Really lovely. My daughter and I had Huevos Rancheros. My husband had Fish and Shrimp Tacos. Also, we all had cocktails but unfortunately I forgot to write down what we each had. But we each enjoyed what we ordered. We all agreed that we would definitely return to Arguello, on the early side so as to secure an outdoor table.
