Argia's Ratings and Reviews
I have been coming to Argia's off and on since it opened. Service has always been spotty, but excellent food and wine and a beautiful mural made up for it. Unfortunately, it seems that everything except the mural has deteriorated lately. I brought an out-of-town visitor for dinner, and it was not a happy experience. Service was sub-par (dropped cutlery, water requested without ice showed up with ice cubes in the glass, special charged at full price on the bill). The food and wine were OK, but nothing special. It's too bad--I loved having a good neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent home made pasta. Some interesting dishes you may not have tried even if you think you know Italian, I had Orrichetti with Cauliflower & Raisins. Who knew - it was good! Brick oven pizza :) Decent wine list - nice variety of 'by the glass wines' - Tuesday night they offer free corkage.
Good, quick and friendly service. Lots of people in the restaurant which made it noisy.
For an Italian place the menu was actually somewhat limited. I expected a few more items and also some additional meat items.
The Greek salad was 2 leaves of lettuce and then a ton of olives, tomatoes and cucumbers, which was okay but I'd actually rather have more lettuce. I'll go back but only after I see more or different options on the menu.
My wife and I were driving through Falls Church and remembered a place we'd gone on a date many years ago. Checked Open Table at a stop light, and pulled in for an early dinner. So glad we did! Argia's is a true local gem, and their homemade pastas are still perfect. My wife really loved the Chef's Special, which was a mix of chicken, oven dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and a light cream sauce. We used their amazing focaccia to get all of the delicate sauce! I loved how their staff knew all of the locals' names.
I was disappointed by my trip to Argia's. We had made a reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant they wanted to seat us at the bar because we were only a party of two. After we declined they gave us a table right next to the hostess station. It was ok. Our server was great but the food extremely mediocre and not worthy of the price. Despite the fact that I live very close to the restaurant, I will likely not return.
very, very loud and vents were blowing very hard. Service was nice but please don't remove a plate while someone at the table is still eating. It is very rude. Spring vegetable pasta was very nice- fresh vegetables. Tiramisu was delicious. Minestrone soup was great but farmhouse salad was unbalanced- way too salty.
We had a team dinner (9 people) on Friday night. Our group included people with food allergies and vegan needs. The chef was able to accomodate and our whole group raved about their dishes. My family has been to Argias many times, and we are always always happy!
We were looking forward to trying this restaurant. I'm not a picky eater but I wasn't impressed with the chicken parm. My husband wasn't impressed with the lasagna. We tried each other's food and we weren't impressed. We are still searching for a wonderful Italian restaurant.
We had fun dining at Argia with friends. We each ordered something different and all were happy with our meals. The beet salad is fantastic and our main courses were very attractive, fresh and delicious. I had the orchietta with pancetta and it was wonderful.
There was a large group near us and it was a little noisy but not too bad. The chef came out to meet us as did the owner. Very impressive.
We went to Argia's because the mussels are a special price on Wednesday. My husband had the mussels and liked them, though he has had a similar size serving equally as good at other local restaurants for less than Argia's special price on Wednesday. We also intentionally arrived before 7 in order to take advantage of the Happy Hour snack prices. I had chosen a bar snack from the happy hour menu on line. When I ordered it, I was told that it had been taken off the menu that day and was not available. The item was a cheese fondue for $5. The waitress/hostess suggested the fried cheese appetizer instead, not a Happy Hour special. It was $8 which percent wise is 60% more. Because we were not ordering Happy hour specials (all the Happy hour specials were non-vegetarian) we could eat outside in a nice patio which we really enjoyed. The bar was quite noisy. The fried cheese I ordered was dry and there was very little pesto sauce. I would not order that item again. The cheese is sliced thin and was not oozing. The house bread is served warm and is VERY good. The server is an excellent job of making sure we had what we wanted even though we were the only customers outside so shows doing extra walking to check on us.
In previous visits we have been more pleased with the food and the value, but we have not been in a long time and obviously some things have changed.
A good dining experience within the inside dining room. Argia's has outdoor seating at the rear of the building. Wear long sleeves or bring a sweater in the event you are seated under one of the HVAC registers. Argil's has daily specials, and all menu items are fairly priced - good value.
Always enjoy this comfortable and friendly restaurant with excellent service. It has a new chef and menu and the food was delicious. I am partial to the spaghetti and meatballs with freshly made pasta. Minestrone soup was amazing. Kitchen prepared appetizers so that they could easily be split among three.
Great Value... Argias makes its own pasta and serves bountiful portions for a very fair price. The Fruitti de Mar sea food platter, was notable for that reason! The Chicken Parmesan was two cutlets, well breaded and just loaded with cheese! And, the Farm House salad was fresh and crisp. The desserts were home made and the crispy cannoli's were covered in real chocolate!
