Argia's Ratings and Reviews
my first impression was less than positive, as our initial greeting by the host was without much enthusiasm, and after being seated, we waited for about ten minutes before our waiter approached and took our drink order. However, the service and delicious meals more than made up for the rough start. Our server was extremely charismatic, knowledgeable, and responsive. The meals were perfect; they were fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be back.
Our party of five enjoyed our meal at Argia's! The two downsides of this restaurant are the acoustics in the main dining room and the shape of the group tables. The main room was very noisy and it was difficult to hear what anyone in our group was saying, and their were only two other groups of diners in the room. The large round table also made it difficult to hear each other. The staff was very accommodating and allowed us to move to a rectangular table in the bar area so we could enjoy each other's conversation! The food was great! We all started with various salads, and all were tasty! The main courses were delicious as well! This is the only restaurant that makes Gnocchi with ricotta, the way my boyfriend's mother's family made it in Italy. Our server, Caleb (I believe that was his name), was fantastic! We will definitely dine here again!
Met some friends who were staying in a hotel in Falls Church. We're from Baltimore so I relied on reviews to find a restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Everything we had was delicious. The servers were attentive, and we were very pleased. The portions were generous but not monstrous. I wish this restaurant was near where we live!
I had a misunderstanding about use of a Groupon -- my fault, it turned out, because the Groupon did in fact state that we could not have the benefit of the daily special when using a Groupon. They were very gracious about it, which we appreciated. They also agreed to prepare a meal that was not on the menu, which was particularly tasty. They are flexible, warm, and prepare some very nice food. Try the mussels Argia. :-9 We had a very nice time and will be back.
Delicious, creative food in a nice atmosphere. Good selection of entrees, appetizers and desserts, plus large portions and handmade pasta. We ate dinner there before seeing a play at the James Lee Community Center, and I'd definitely recommend it to others.
Predinner before dance party at the State Theater; making reservations was easy and even changing the time was simple, friendly staff, gave good suggestions on menu - this was first time at Argias for most - had a good time with the delicious food
We have eaten here before and liked it a lot. This was an anniversary and we had not been in a while. New Menu, new prices, new staff. Definitely a step down on all fronts. Food quality is way down, salads, ugh! Prices are up. We are done with this place.
We went for my Wife's Birthday. We have been here many times before and are always amazed by the food. The server was attentive and provided great service. It was a quite night at the restaurant which was great for conversation. We are always excited to try new dishes and are never let down. We are excited to bring our 8 yr old son on our next visit.
The food is high quality, fresh and authentic. On my unusually beautiful tuna salad were toasted handmade pasta, light and buttery as pastry. Delightful! On another occasion, for takeout, the bartender brought me two glasses of wonderful wine and olives I did not ask for. Can't ask for nicer service.
Been going here infrequently for a number of years. Food seems to have improved a bit under new management - Shrimp Scampi was excellent! Good atmosphere, good service and appropriately price...added bonus is the outdoor seating area that is nicely put together. Start here for dinner and just next door is State Theater or Clair & Don's for a nightcap, makes for a great night out.
Noise, the table next to us had kids, each with iPads playing games with the sound up. I asked the Father to have him turn it down. Yea, Dad, he had them turn them off.
Food- My two friends had the veal, which was a little tough, not pounded down to 1/8 inch.
Visiting from out of town and lucked into a delightful dinner here. Pasta is excellent and the Bomba dessert was wonderful. Service was very good. We were eating early so noise wasn't an issue but might be if full. Overall though, a delightful evening and would certainly return if future plans permit.
Been awhile since we had been to Argia's and the return was a little disappointing. They have changed the preparation of our favorite dish, Fruite de Mare. Used to serve it on a wilted salad with chunks of fish, tender calarami, plenty of scallops, shrimp and mussels. It WAS fantastic. Now a few simple greens with a few mussels, couple shrimp and scallops, and bland dressing and chewy rubber bands that I presume were calamari. We used to split the meal but this time it was barely an appetizer. All in all it was a fair dining experience (wine was good).
Go for the food. They use the best ingredients and it's carefully prepared and presented. We started with the calamari, which was more than the two of us could eat, but light and fresh. We shared the farmhouse salad with lovely chunks of cheese, tomatos, olives and more. But it's the details in the dishes, like the little red chilies in the calamari, and the capers in the salad. Then... the house made pasta. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the pappardelli bolognese. Both were excellent! We finished the meal with cannoli and an Italian coffee. It was a very special dinner, we'll be back.
Argias is a neighborhood treat for Falls Church. The food quality is reliably high, and the chef demonstrates gastronomic talent with delicious and unique versions of menu staples. For example, the steak salad is a somewhat deconstructed version including all the good stuff - greens, avocado, gorgonzola, crispy onion rings, and also sautéed onion and potato slices. I eat here at several times each month for business lunches. The soup of the day is always delicious and often unusual; the pastas are homemade, the pizzas and calamari are nice meal starters, and Argias makes my favorite mussels anywhere.
Good food and very family friendly. However, we had to move tables twice - once because the cold air vent was right above our table and the second time because table was leaning in one spot and the extra leaf was broken. The manager did this quickly but it was still a little bit disruptive for us.
