The food here was delicious, from the mushroom risotto, to pasta pomodoro, to chicken salad, to sides of cauliflower and asparagus. I am accustomed to northeastern cities with lots of authentic and wonderful Italian eateries and have not found comparable food on the DC area until dining at Argia’s. We ate on the outdoor patio on a lovely spring evening. Some noise, including music from live band at neighboring restaurant, but nothing that disturbed us. Great service. Recommend!
Love the steak salad
We were there for Dining Out for Life. They had a good turnout. Yay!!! There were 3 of us. When we entered the main dining room they had live music, which we felt was very loud and not conducive to conversation. Not really what i'd expect at an Italian restaurant either, but ok. So we asked to be seated outside since it was, fortunately, fairly warm out. The restaurant next door was also having live music which we could hear but it was not as loud as indoors.
One of us ordered pizza and it turned out that it was $10 pizza night on Thursday so she was even happier with her selection when she saw the bill. One of us ordered seafood-mussels were delish. Not too many scallops or shrimp and tons of calamari. Sauce was spicy. but good. The last person in our party ordered gnocchi bolognese, which she'd ordered on previous occasions because it's so good.
Both entrées were excellent: salmon & veal. Ditto the beet salad with arugula, grapefruit & ricotta. Ditto the tiramisu. Don't know if the other person's affogato had hot espresso, as it had a lot of whipped cream topping. They are perennial participants in Food & Friends--bravo!
We always enjoy eating here, great pasta, beet salad and pizza.
Generally we love Argia's. We mainly go for lunch and it is low key and easy to have a conversation with friends. Unfortunately, Saturday night is not the night to get good conversation. Noise level was off the charts. It was so loud that we could not hear the person next to us much less the one across the table. Add to that a diner with mobility issues with tables too close together and it was uncomfortable for all of us. The neighboring table's occupants kept hitting us, our table and chairs when they moved making it difficult for us to eat comfortably. I had made a note in the reservation about the mobility issues so the restaurant was not unaware of it. On the up side the food was great and the house wine was good plus we all enjoyed our meal but agreed we would avoid Argia's for dinner for us but keep it a lunch place when mobility and crowding is not an issue.
Delicious food. The mushroom risotto is wonderful as are the desserts. Will definitely be going back.
The noise level was too high for us to relax. Food and service were good.
Really mediocre food. Service pretty horrendous too.
Excellent food, we had Margarita Pizza, Beet salad and pasta. All delicious,
Impressed with the home made pasta. It’s hard to find a good meatball. Theirs were great. Very good muscles.
The menu has changed since the last time we ate here, so I am thinking the chef changed. Is that so? The food (I had lasagna, wife had salmon, daughter had pizza, daughter's friend had steak) was good across the board. Well cooked and tasty. Server seemed new and so a few miscues but overall attentive.
The address was off by two buildings, good food, good drinks, nice people working there.
Algiers is one of my restaurants of choice, the owners are tremendous and always make an effort to come and say "hello". The prices are reasonable, the ambiance is simple, and the service excellent. The only meal I have there is their steamed mussels. These are the best I know of in the area, succulent spicy and plentiful. Excellent with one of their reasonably priced wines. I can think of no better place to go for a late lunch where the food will be good, and the place quiet enough for private, business, conversation.
One reviewer wrote this restaurant was a "gem" and I couldn't agree more. The service is attentive, with responsibilities split among staff, resulting in a coordinated full-service effort. The waiters are able to make recommendations based on personal experience, another sign of a well-run restaurant. The food is well seasoned and prepared, always tasty. I highly recommend Argia's.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Argia's - food, wine and service. Would definitely recommend to others for any occasion. We'll be back!
A real disappointment. Expected something a little bit more authentic. Instead the service was slow. The fairly bland...much like something you would throw together in 5 minutes after a night out.
Argia's never disappoints. The food is always delicious and the servers are always pleasant and efficient. You can't go wrong.
Excellent!!! The rockfish was delicious and perfect. The salmon not too dry and the cauliflower a great alternative to starch.
The Lobster-stuffed pasta was excellent, partly due to the wonderful Lobster Bisque. The Ribeye steak was cooked just right for Medium Well.
Valentines Day and we didn’t feel rushed as is often the case on VD. Argia’s food - I had the lasagna, my wife the chicken - well prepared and huge portions. Calamari and Gorgonzola salad nicely prepared as well - and very shareable. We had forgotten how much we enjoy Argia’s and were pleasantly surprised that they do not succumb to the usuals VD letdown.
The good food and service were overshadowed by the horrible noise level. It was so loud that our table of four could barely hear each other. The unacceptable level of noise ruined our meal. We will hesitate to go back.
This is the second time my wife and I dined at Argia's. Very nice and excellent wait staff, but not pushy. The owner personally came by to talk with us, and check if our experience was positive. A bit noisy, but it was a Saturday evening crowd. Good size portions of both appetizers and main course. We'll definitely come again!
Great food, great wine—-but Friday night was too busy, crowded and LOUD. We were hoping for a nice catch up evening with old friends we ate dinner & left all with in two hours. It was so loud.
This has become our family's favorite place. We are a large family, with adult children, grandparents, babies and toddlers, and the staff is always so welcoming even though we are so large. Always, always great service. Always great wine, and the food is amazing! We have never been disappointed and will continue this tradition. Thanks!
The waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. My food (spaghetti pomadoro) was not very appealing but my dining friend thought hers (chicken parmesan) was delicious.
What a great find! Great food and drinks! Casual atmosphere! Would visit again!
We had a reservation but were told when we arrived on time that there would be a wait for our table of 30-45 minutes. They could not honor our reservation. We were than told we could sit at the bar and get service. We were very hungry and didn’t want to wait so we tried for the bar. Both the dining room and bar were very loud. We did not get acknowledged at the bar for about ten minutes. It took another fifteen to get water. And then another fifteen to get a food menu because “they didn’t have enough” according to the bartender. The food came out fast and was just ok. Colin the bartender was great but clearly swamped with a full bar plus four tables. The manager came by a few times but never acknowledged the fact they were not able to accommodate our reservation. She just said they were busy cause of a show and laughed it off. I go to this rest every few weeks and normally everything is spectacular. But I’ll think twice about returning. Poor customer service from the host and manager and lack luster food just are not worth it. The only gem? If you go ask for Colin. Very nice guy.
The food was fine, but it was the noisiest restaurant I can remember. Couldn't talk to my companion. Not inclined to return.
We love the home made pasta dishes. Refreshed menu is delish....
As far as the food goes, probably one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever eaten at.
Good food and prices.papardelle great. We enjoyed it
A nice neighborhood place. Good food--not hugely creative but nicely prepared. Excellent service.
I haven’t been here in a few years but was pleasantly surprised that the food was better than previous experiences. The service was good and my friends and I had a great time.
We have been going here for years. The other night we had dinner there for my father’s birthday. They made a dish that wasn’t typically on their menu for my dad (carbonara) and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food, Service, and atmosphere. The mural of “Good Govenment” on the wall is beautiful and creates a warm setting to dine. Finally, the desert “Peanut Butter Bomba” was the best peanut butter desert I have ever had in my life. We all shared it and found it amazing. The owner gave it as a gift for my father’s birthday. This is truly a remarkable, family owned restaurant that has been and will remain a favorite of ours! I enthusiastically recommend eating here.
I love to support local businesses but this place was really too loud and we were disappointed by the service. My husband had to ask for his entree and the server added gratuity for a party of 5, which is unusual. We could barely talk due to volume (Friday night) and we felt very squished into the center of the room even though we made reservations. The food was quite good though the salad dressing was a big heavy. Overall we were expecting something better for the price. Sorry...
Great place and great food. Great value as well. I recommend
Service, drinks, food...everything was perfect! Great way to begin the new year! We will definitely be back!
Good food creatively prepared. Very noisy -- conversation difficult.
My wife and I split a Sunday night supper and a salad. Healthy portions. Sauce was not over spiced.
