Birthday dinner for my husband. Service was outstanding and food was beyond expectations. The oysters were incredible.
This was our 1st night out since October, and many 2020 celebrations that had been pushed off due to COVID19 were all rolled into this visit. It was well worth the wait. We were warmly greeted at the door, and well cared for throughout our dining. Our food was superb, beautiful to look at and delicious, exactly what we have come to expect at Arethusa al Tavolo. Our waitstaff were attentive yet unobtrusive. Happy and well satiated, our choice for our “celebrations catch up” at Arethusa was the right choice. Highly recommend dining here, especially if you love chefs that play with your food. You won’t be disappointed!
Everything was perfect.
Out experience at Arethusa al Tavolo was excellent from the moment we entered the restaurant. The hostess, wait staff, food, drinks, ambiance were, as always, outstanding. The staff is friendly and courteous and we love everything about this gem in Bantam.
Can't wait to return for our next visit!
This was one of the best meals of my life!! The food was spectacular! Every bite brought a new experience due to the many layers of the meal. I was impressed by the attention to detail. The meal was an artistic masterpiece. The staff was friendly, helpful, but not overbearing. I especially liked when the manager came over at the end of the meal and asked how everything was. She introduced herself to us, asked our names, and had a friendly conversation. It made me feel welcome and appreciated. 5 stars all the way!!
Excellent food, waiting time is to European standards.
I always tell friends this is the best restaurant in Connecticut, and could compete with the best in NY if it were located there. Again, a wonderful meal
never disappointed..eating outside was very quiet..inside more-noisy
food appearance absolutely picturesque and tastes even better than it looks if that is possible.staff service attentive and polite but not groveling.ambience excellent. running out of complimentary adjectives .we had guests that were first timers and had an amazing evening. thsnk you Arethusa
Outstanding meal. Excellent service. Loved every bite.
The food and service are superb. While you have to plan 30 days ahead to get a reservation and it is fairly expensive, you will not be disappointed with the food or the experience. Highly recommended, especially for a special experience. I found myself eating and truly enjoying foods that I normally avoid or have not enjoyed.
We have been wanting to try Arethusa since we moved to CT 4 years ago. It did not disappoint!! Everything from the pretzel bread and butter, cocktails and mains were amazing, as was the service. We will definitely be back!
Food is inventive and delicious, with lots of interesting vegetables, fish dishes, flavors. Outstanding cocktails. Service is somewhat uneven. Still, always a lovely dining experience.
the food and the service, as well as the ambience is wonderful at Arethusa. Yesterday evening was a very full evening, so our appetizer and main course were a little long in coming. BUT our waiter was exceedingly nice about it and apologized several times.
We loved his enthusiasm about the food he was serving, and he was quite right. It was tasty, beautifully prepared, good and interesting combinations and perfectly cooked or assembled.
We have been several times and have enjoyed all the dishes! We highly recommend Arethusa al Tavolo!
The food was wonderful, but the service made the night. Our server, Genia, was particularly gracious in dealing with our table and my parents who are elderly and have some trouble communicating due to my dad having had a stroke. It was a great night out!
Excellent food as always!
Service like no other.
Very good dining experience. The place was packed, they were short staffed, but still were able to keep an outstanding level of service! Staff was pleasant and cheerful, and the food was excellent!
Honestly the best restaurant we’ve ever been to, every dish was incredible. All around wonderful experience!
Food, service, space were all outstanding. Just very loud.
We were visiting the area for our anniversary and wanted to treat ourselves to a great meal. Arethusa got wonderful reviews so we decided to give it a try--especially since we appreciate farm to table dining. We were not disappointed. We've been to many highly rated restaurants that we've enjoyed but this stood out among them. The food was the finest we've had. The staff is as amazing as the food is. We highly recommend Arethusa!
From the moment we arrived, our experience was nothing short of phenomenal. The entire staff was welcoming, professional, prompt, and attentive. The food and drinks were outstanding. Everything we tasted was wonderful. I had the cucumber spritzer, which was refreshing and delicious. We had the lobster and avocado appetizer and the walnut-incrusted tiny beets to begin -- we highly recommend both. We then had the diver scallops and the grilled steak, both of which were top-notch. We finished with the maple walnut carrot cake, which was divine. The flavors and textures in every item were just perfect. Although we live about an hour away, it was well worth the trip and we look forward to returning again in the near future!
Arethusa al tavola is a destination restaurant from Southport, CT. We were expecting a special experience. First of all, the tables for two are poorly located except for two at the window and reception. After rejecting the many available, we were finally able to be seated at the one with the cookbooks on the shelf, many of which we owned ourselves.
The restaurant advertises itself as changing its menu daily but so far as we could tell, the menu was the same on May 4th when I booked our table. My husband's Smoked Pork Belly Dumplings were much too sweet and more for a winter menu as was my main course of Roasted Pekin Duck Breast Glazed with Hot Honey. Before I chose the Duck I asked the server whether it was sliced thinly and she replied "Yes." I should have noticed its chunks would be accompanied by spaetzle, again much too heavy for June and almost unpalatable. I recently had Duck at The Cottage in Westport; there it is Duck Confit, appropriate for June! My husband's main course was the Roasted Mediterranean Seabass which seemed rather sweet and the crust on the fish was weird. He thought the accompaniments were not right for the fish.
The best dish of the day was the Zucchini Blossom Special, which was excellent. It did not, however, make up for the rest of the meal. And the Walnut Carrot Cake which we shared for dessert had a cold heavy icing which meant it just came out of the refrigerator. We should have had the Beignets! No matter how many bits and pieces used to glamorize their dishes, it doesn't make up for the natural flavors one would expect at a restaurant of this caliber.
An hour and fifteen minutes to Bantam and another hour or so to return home just wasn't worth the experience. We would have done better to stop at one of the restaurants in Litchfield.
My favorite restaurant by leaps and bounds. Menu is outstanding and the meal exceeds all expectations.
For this fancy of a spot, noise level should have been quieter. Wait staff was on point but wish they were more enthusiastic. Food was absolutely delicious! Can’t wait to go back and try something else from the menu. Received special treat at end of night since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
Always a great meal with excellent service. The menu is a nice mix of very yummy standby dishes and seasonal offerings. Our party of 4 each had something different so we could sample a lot of different things and all were delicious. The ramp crusted strip loin, big eye tuna and Halibut all stood out. The cocktails are well crafted with each having a special touch in terms of garnish and "ice". The wine list also has a lot of goo offerings at reasonable prices. All of this was accompanied by a team of excellent staff. The 1 hour fifteen minute drive is always worth it.
Every course of the dinner was outstanding, beyond great flavors, the right size and our server was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. This place is a true gem!
A real gem without being snooty. Top notch food, wine and service. A real winner.
We had tried to get into Arethusa for some time, but had been unable to secure a reservation. We finally got a reservation for our anniversary and it was worth the wait. The food was exquisite and the service was impeccable. Perhaps the best dining experience we've ever had.
The food and service are exactly what you'd expect from a fine dining establishment. Friendly staff and excellent food. It was a little loud which always earns a demerit from me but I would not let that stop you from going.
We’ve eaten there many times and have always had an excellent meal.
Sat outside on the patio. Lovely atmosphere. Great place all around.
We had the most fabulous meal and a dining experience that exceeded any of our expectations. When a severe weather event suddenly occurred, requiring immediate re location of tables, guests and food (despite their well designed covered outside patio), Kristen and her unbelievable staff calmly, quickly and effortlessly made it happen. No drama, no fuss-
This is a true measure of “ fine dining”
Their focus was only on our dining experience
And, the food was divine- from the fresh herb butter to the openers and main dishes, not a single mis step. Let me not fail to mention the final delight- Arethusa ice cream for dessert!!
There were birthday celebrations surrounding us all night, each acknowledged with a candle and dessert, no different than if it had been a routine uncomplicated evening
Bravo to you, Kristen- you and your staff deserved a standing ovation from all of us
We can’t wait to return
Always wonderful, service, food, never disappointed.
The food and service are outstanding. I always love it.
Arethusa is remarkable! One of the best dining experiences ever. The food and service were both top notch. The crab and shrimp dip was full of good meat and cheesy. My duck and my husband’s sirloin was fabulous. All the right touches made for a meal to be remembered.
As always, Arethusa is welcoming, warm and overall delightful. The menu, while changing with the seasons, is inventive, inclusive of meat, fish and vegetarian and always local where possible. Service is fantastic. A real "best of" experience!
Food was fantastic, everything very fresh and flavorful, a treat for the eyes and palate. The beets were delicious, pea soup very bright and tasty, scallops delightful and cooked perfectly. The deserts were great as well- beignets not at all greasy and with the wonderful aroma of orange blossom, German chocolate cake was well done.
The only shortcoming is that, while quite pleasant, the environment does not take advantage of the naturally beauty that is bountiful in the immediate vicinity.
It also cost well over $400 with tip for dinner for 4 including 6 glasses of wine.
The service was very good.
I would definitely go back.
We were once again extremely happy with our experience here. The food was delicious, fresh, and original. We sat on the patio which is wonderfully decorated and felt very safe. The staff were attentive, supportive, and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
