Area 31 - Epic Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately for my first time, it was not that great. To start off the review I checked in at 7:15 and we didn’t leave the restaurant until 10pm. It was only myself and my girlfriend. I wanted to surprise her for her birthday. The view at this location is great, although we sat near the door where multiple people were coming in and out and even people who were staying at the hotel were just dropping in just to see the scene which was disruptive. Our waitress was nice, however super inattentive. She recommended a non-alcoholic beverage to me and I confirmed but she never brought me the drink. We wanted an appetizer and ordered the shrimp and then 20 minutes later she came and same they were 86? Not having a popular app on a Saturday night early in the evening was shocking. We waited long periods of time for her to come and even give us the status on our food. We did not order that much, I had a salad. All in all the end of the night ended by a waiter pouring the wrong drink into my cup and is waiting forever for the check. Not sure where the disconnect was on this night but I was super disappointed. Not sure I would give it another go. Just for the record this was a birthday occasion. Nothing special was done, given or compt which was really upsetting. I’d like to recommend this restaurant for many reasons but unfortunately the view is all it has to offer.
Restaurant is expensive but this is not a problem because the area (Brickell) is high top in Miami, but in my opinion I think the overall is not good I fell like I’m in a regular restaurant the food is good but nothing extraordinary plates are not well designed and the taste is about average.
There are good restaurants in this area, I not recommend this.
Service was excellent, but they charged 20% of tip mandatory, this is in my opinion disrespectful for customers, because tips are a premium for service .
First. Do not go for dinner during happy hour. Whether you choose to eat outside, 16 floors up, or you dine inside, you will not be able to have a conversation with
Your companions. And you won’t hear tour server unless he/she shouts. The loud, pulsing, mind-shaking sounds emanating from happy hour prevents all conversation.
While ridiculously over prices (grilled salmon for $26.00 with nothing else of the plate) the food was good. We were surprised that we got no bread and that the server tried really hard to up-sell on on wine specials for the day.
Dinner cost over $80.00 per person with
One glass of wine each. Had we been able to hear anything, we might have complained
Our first impression was a bit bumpy - the hostess was pretty aloof and sat us right outside the kitchen and made it clear that she wasn't going to move us. It was early and there were empty tables all around us for the duration of our dinner. However, our waitress was amazing. My husband really hates kale and beets -- both of which are included on the two salad options. He teased her about it, but she actually returned with a salad made just for him. Most of the menu was creative and good, if a bit overpriced. Dinner for four was over $500 for 4 people. I'll pay that for a rare experience, but the boys ordered steak...not too much creativity required there.
Great service! Warm place and amazing view. I was there for dinner with my girlfriend and the place has maybe the best view in town about the skyline. Sea food horrible for the price i paied, with no taste at all, served with ketchup, clear butter and italian sauce.. how can you serve oyster like that i don’t know! I will be back for thé service and view.. not at all for food!
The bar area was great, especially the view of brickell. We were under the impression that the restaurant closed at 11 since that’s what google says. They closed at 10 and we arrived at 9:30 and our waiter tried to convince us to go downstairs to eat instead. I was apologetic for us showing up at 9:30 but the hours online were wrong. I understand they wanted to go home but it seemed unprofessional he tried to convince us to leave.
The hostess would not seat us until all were there even though we had a reservation we had confirmed twice. Long wait for server to take order. Another long wait for the food. So noisy was hard to hear each other. But the food was very good. Wine prices are quite inflated. Server was helpful but seemed quite taxed. The phone line is difficult as it is necessary to go through hotel switchboard.
It was my husband birthday and i want to surprise him with something romantic and nice..! I googled and area 31 showed up at the first in the list..
Even if we live here in miami, the view was amazing..! Probably the only thing good after the drinks.. the food is nothing out of this world.. but before going there, i was reading the reviews about this place and i was kind of prepared for it.. so.., i didnt get surprised about the size of the meals.. the taste of the food was ok but the portions were really small..also they don't sing the happy birthday song but if you ask for a dessert, they put a sparking candle in the middle .. cocktails were really good.. SUNSET is the best in handcrafted cocktails menu.
Place was great. Took a date, she said "I appreciate." She became boisterous after the oysters.
The waiter looked like a skater, but his commentary was greater
Than what you'd expect.
He got the check, hundred on deck. My wallet is wrecked.
Parking sucked and it was 27 bucks.
Overall good in the hood.
Went for happy hour first - deceptive- only straight or single mix drinks are included - anything else was about $14+tax+20% tip added on. For bar bites, ceviche and croquetas were good. Very young crowd- early 20's. Then moved over to the restaurant which was empty at 8PM- almost no one inside and a handful of tables occupied outside. However, service was slow despite few patrons. Asked for bread which apparently is not usually provided- it wasn't brought to us until after we finished our entrees. Food was good but small portions with nothing else included. Didn't bother to stay for dessert. Valet parking $17 when validated (otherwise $22 so no bargain)- and the approach to the hotel/valet is a mob scene. Not worth it- won't go back.
Great view, but kitchen very mediocre. Party of 5, 1 starter forgotten. Ordered a second bottle of wine, not a cheap one and that was sold out. Took at least 45 minutes to get another one.
Waitress tried her best, but was stressed and/or overloaded.
Preprinted gratituide of 20% was a joke !
Worst service imaginable. Food is mediocre and over priced. No one informed me of free valet. I made reservations for Christmas Day one week in advance, called the day prior to confirm operations and hours would be the same as usual (I’ve visited in the past) the hostess I spoke to stated operations would resume as usual. The day of at 1:18 pm I received a call confirming my 1:30 reservation while I was en route. The hostess over the phone told me the restaurant will close at 2 pm and that I must arrive prior. I was frustrated because the confirmation was minutes before the reservation and I had called the day prior to avoid having my Christmas lunch ruined. Very disappointed by the service I received once I arrived (on time) they ran out of the ceviche I ordered, I was told 20 min later and the complimentary lunch valet was not communicated by any of the staff I encountered. Service was a disgrace.
