Area 31 - Epic Hotel

The space is beautiful, but the food is sub-par and ridiculously overpriced. I would suggest that the restaurant install a really great chef to merit those prices. Or, adjust their prices to reflect the food that is merely OK at best. Stop trying to fleece the tourists and the locals might actually want to take part of your gorgeous view and ambiance.
All great! Only suggestion is the tall floor light on the outside patio is a bit too bright.
Our reservation was at opening time and we showed up three minutes early. They wouldn't seat us and made us wait until 6PM. Area 31 over looks the Miami river which is nice but their lighting is too bright and offensive. They had a big private party that evening and it must have taken all of the servers and all of the available food to satisfy them. Our first round of drinks arrived promptly but it took 20 minutes to have our shrimp cocktail delivered. A women filled our water glasses and she was the worst, very unhappy she was even there. We ended up leaving without ordering our entre and went downstairs and ate at Zuma, the sister restaurant in the hotel. Zuma was excellent and it saved our evening with excellent food and service, we were celebrating our 40th anniversary.
What a great lunch!! The service from all team members was outstanding!! Great views and delicious food. We definitely want to come back to try the dinner menu. I can’t stress enough how accommodating and helpful the service team was though! Constantly checking in, setting up an umbrella for us and constantly asking if we were comfortable. Top notch! Thanks again for a great experience.
Our table and view was amazing. Our waiter Julio was very nice and made sure we were taken care of the entire night. The food was good but for the money it should have been outstanding. My wife order the NY strip and requested it be medium and it was closer to well done. Very little hint of pink in the very center. Paying a premium price for dinner should yield a perfectly cooked meal. Taste is subjective but cooking a streak medium is basic.
Experience was wonderful! Food was great! However we booked for 10:30am breakfast and they stop serving breakfast at 10:30am. Staff was extremely kind enough to let us still enjoy a wonderful tasty breakfast.
Area 31 was outstanding. Although expensive, it was worth the money. We sat outside and the view was priceless. Our server was Shayna, and she was excellent. Area 31 should be happy to have her for an employee. The food was also great.
We had booked a table at 12 but when we got there we could not find a waiter to talk to. Then when we finally found one he did not seem to want to talk to us and told us to wait. After a while a nice waiter came to seat us but then my dish did not come with an avocado as listed and when we asked about it they said they did not have it but offered us something else instead but then they ended up having avocado which we got. The food was very good though, just wish we would have had better service.
Food and service were excellent… Chelsea our waitress was fantastic… Red snapper and pork belly were perfect
Loved it. One of my favorite fine restaurants in South Florida so far. It was a special night. Wonderful VIP service. Loved food, loved service, loved my Lychee Martini.
Good breakfast. A bit high priced for an omelet that was nothing out of the ordinary.
We walked out onto this gorgeous balcony surrounded by beautiful buildings and river, soon however we had to constantly adjust our seats due to the lighting that blinded your eyes. Our servers Ms. Morgan and Mr. Danny were prompt, and courteous. Once settled we continued to enjoy the view and our cocktails arrived and they both tasted like cough syrup. At this point the same music played over and over again of repeated deep rhythm that was harsh and discordant leading to generalized cacophony. The grilled rubbery Octopus arrived then the salad with a very thick stiff burrata and wet mixed greens was presented. Thankfully we asked our server if we could skip our entree and she said that was not a problem. Immediately the manager came to our table and was very gracious and understanding that the food, music and drinks were not right and removed the cost of a portion of our meal. We would have been happy to pay the full bill just to get out of the place. Final bill for bad cocktails, loud music and poor food ended at $87.00. Thank goodness for the Masa Fries that were tasty.
Truly out of this world wonderful!
Fabulous dinner! Beautiful view of the city & the bay!!
Absolutely 5 star! Service excellent, food amazing, clean and nice view. Expensive, plan on about $100 per person, Well worth it!
Ambiente muy lindo y agradable, recomendable, comida muy rica
Très bien reçu , la vue est splendide. Le service au top. Concernant l’assiette , la nourriture est très bonne. Rien à redire. Just amazing !
Waiting staff was awesome. Really enjoyed the ourselves
Great view and ambiance ! Food was excellent . Definitely will continue to dine here.
Beautiful view of city lights. Food was perfect portions. Would definitely go again.
The service was outstanding, our waitress went above and beyond by giving us a complimentary two wine glasses for our anniversary. The scallop risotto was delicious and the octopus is the best.
Wasn’t aware we had to eat on the couches. Was quite uncomfortable. Wasn’t aware the entire menu wouldn’t be available so there was a very small selection of what we could order.
It is a beautiful spot, Manuel our server was wonderful.! The hostesses were clueless. The menu is very limited, 1 steak only which had the texture of a towel. $60 NY strip. The scallop risotto was gritty. The drinks were weak.
Great place to sit outside and fine dine, especially for sunset
It was good place but overpriced. Otherwise fine.
We popped in for a short visit and ordered a couple apps and they were just okay. We were surround by the beautiful tall building full or lights and the sunset peaking through. Our server that night was Chelsey who was new to Miami but made a great recommendation for us to visit Wynwood Walls. She was attentive and sweet.
Muy lindo lugar con una vista única! Cenamos afuera, todo excelente
Great, kind Andrzej fruendly staff
The restaurant was extremely backed up taking room service orders for the Hotel.
But overall the food was very good and the servers were apologetic.
Offered only buffet and place was dirty and no dress code in place. The choice of food was better in my own kitchen. For a New Year’s Day brunch it was a disgrace
I went on New Year’s Day for breakfast with my wife and parents, they had offer a breakfast buffet which was good but we went actually for the brunch menu, which they didn’t have it on New Year’s Day I guess (disappointed ☹️) however, the breakfast was delicious, the price was fair, and the views were amazing, I think I would be paying it a visit at night time to enjoy the view.
Booked for NYE only to arrive to be told there was only a buffet at 150pp no drinks/alcohol inc.
The staff on the restaurant reception did not even know what was available on the buffet when I asked apart from it being 3 courses so we had NYE hotel room service. Not quite the NYE we had in mind.
The hotel needs to not advertise NYE menus online or availability on OpenTable if there is only a buffet available through Eventbrite.
Very disorganised- many left disappointed.
Had to ask for a drink 6 times because our server kept forgetting
Overall absolutely excellent. Be ready for a large bill, but worth it.
I recently dined at Area 31 to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday with her. The experience was absolutely incredible! René, the manager, seated us at a window-front table with a spectacular view of the city. René was hospitable and very gracious during our entire experience. Julio, our server, was speedy and attentive to our every need. The food was incredibly fresh and tasty. We especially enjoyed the Seafood Tower. Afterwards, my girlfriend and I went outside to enjoy a cocktail and cigar with a magnificent perspective of the entire city. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and I can’t wait to go back!
Recommend for the view ! Otherwise, the food is good, a little bit too expansive for what it is in my opinion... Bad point for me is that we had a reservation at 8pm and immiediately when some of us arrived, they told us that we had to order because the kitchen was closing soon but not all of our friends were here yet. So we had to order for them and it wasn't so good to feel "rushed" like that, I mean if we knew we would have taken an earlier reservation !
The atmosphere was rather quiet and not very exciting. We preferred Zumba which was on the first floor. The atmosphere was lively, dark, and fun. The appetizers of salad with mozzarella and the pork belly were very good. The entrees were disappointing. My husband did not like his pork cheeks which is the most tender part of the pork. I had fish. It was OK.
Don’t get the seafood tower!!! Put in for birthday occasion seem no one got the memo. Reservation for 4 give us small. Didn’t offer to validate our parking had to went up to get parking validated
sticker shock is not what one should expect particuarly when you have a limited item menu. octopus was raw, chewey, expensive like the rest of the apps and main items.
house wine pour 4oz was $18...come on...?!
1) The service was slow and sparse.
2) The food was well presented (great presentation by the Chef) but cold (below room temperature).
3) Very chewy Octopus and luke warm
Not a great food experience but appears to be a great place and vibe.
