Arco Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Not really sure what all the glowing reviews are about. It's a pretty average restaurant with equally average food. The service was especially disappointing as we visited on a slow night and seemed to have to flag down the waitress (who was sitting at the bar) for everything we needed. Not a bad place, but not recommended
Casual place with excellent Italian dishes, a not-too-expensive wine selection, and friendly service. Background buzz is pretty loud but some people like it that way. Gnocchi very good. Full the night we were there so make a reservation -- Open Table worked well for us.
As my grandmother used to say, "mezza mezza." Food was ok, nothing special, but I seriously question one server and one busser for a full dining room and patio on a Thursday night. That said, they did an admirable job, but it was just too much for two people. For essentially the same food, done better, go to Regional.
We have been to this restaurant many times because the food is excellent, the service usually good and the prices reasonable. Unfortunately this past Monday the restaurant was busy and there were insufficient staff to accommodate. Consequently, the atmosphere in the restaurant was rushed and it was difficult to gain the attention of the server who was extremely overworked. This was a major disappointment for us.
Service was lousy. My salmon at medium rare was basically raw. Don't sit outside. Amsterdam avenue is a bit of a zoo. Between the projects, the Hostel, constant ambulance traffic and the bodega right next door you will be agitated for sure. In all fairness I have been here for lunch during winter. Their pastas are what you should go there for.
I took my grandson to dinner and we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The appetizers were very good as was our main courses. The service was excellent and very friendly. Prices were reasonable -m especially for Manhattan. I would definitely come again and I would recommend this to friends and family.
We are there on a Friday night (march 31). The service was good as well as our wine selections. My dinner companion had the chicken (involtino di pollo) off of the menu. It was good. I had a special pasta dish with mozzarella, eggplant and tomatoes. It was good. It could have been better if the temperature of the dish was even throughout. I felt like parts of it had been heated in the microwave so it was unevenly.
We did try the olive cake (torta all'olio do Olivia). It was good too.
Arco is a quiet neighborhood restaurant with remarkably good food. It stands out among the many Italian restaurants with its Sardinian specialties. The fish is especially good, and they serve a lot of healthy sauteed greens that are delicious. The kale salad we had last time was very tasty and a little different from most.
Good, FRESH and well prepared food, not industrialized. The flavors of Sardinia's food are real. Nice and pleasant service.
However, bad choice of loud music, annoying vocals becoming disturbing.
Suggestion: softer and tasteful music would help to make a dinner fully enjoyable.
