Archeo Ratings and Reviews
My reservation was for 7. You could have thought it was 10:30, because the place was nearly empty. Really the only thing lacking from this dinner was the ambiance. Myself and my two friends had the outdoor courtyard to ourself once two nearby tables finished up by 7:30/8. Food was delicious, service was wonderful.
I can't wait to go back. Lovely little restaurant in the heart of the Distillery District, uses only ingredients sources within a 100 mile radius! Their garden salad was incredible, tossed in a Niagara verjus dressing. I would go back just for that. Beautiful decor too, and charming patio. I was there with friends visiting from abroad so I loved that it was all such local ingredients. The portions were a bit small, next time I would order a starter in addition. Also it was completely dead on a Monday night so the ambiance was lacking but it was a Monday after all!
Staff seemed nice enough but food was terrible and ambiance not great. When I asked the waiter for a recommendation on what was great on the menu, he answered that this was a restaurant that specialized in weddings so it was all mostly wedding food. When the food came it was very poor all around.
A big disappointment and I would not recommend this restaurant.
If you are in the mood for specialty flatbread pizza and like industrial chic hip decor check this place out. They said they arent usually open except for weddings so the other really good option in distillery district is Cluny the french place- it would be my top pick over archeo as archeo likely wont have many people/be dead atmosphere since you cant count on it being open. Cluny is so attractive. Gorgeous and great vibe.
Overall meal was great, we're big fans of charcuterie boards so the anti pasto hit the spot.
We went for summerlicious and ordered each of the piadini's. Mine was with pesto, which was good. Hers was with trout, she wasnt a fan. According to her, it tasted like bread with mayo spread and raw fish on top.
Other than the main courses, the meal was great. The place was very quiet for a Friday afternoon, probably due to summerlicious ending. Regardless the ambiance was chill with oldies music.
We went there on cold & raining Sunday night. It was very quiet with only 4 tables. The decoration and the atmosphere was very good. We enjoyed a lot with our friends.
The menu was small but we have enough selection on the main course which have meat, fish & vegetarian dishes. We loves the hanger beef. We even had encored on it. The meat was so tender & juicy.
It seems like there was only 1 waiter, but he was very friendly and attentive.
We will go back again
Entree: Food took excessive time and arrived cold and undercooked. Roasted Potatoes had a crunch steak was blue when I had asked for medium Had to walk the plate to the bar to get someone's attention.
Appetizers: Only chef I have seen who serves beet salad raw. I guess cooking takes to long
Waitress had no interest in our table
Had to ask for a clean fork and they brought me another dirty one. I did get a clean one eventually but they left the dirty one on the table. I think the person who used it before me had some sort of berries in their desert
We were pleased that we found Restaurant open for dinner. Food was really delicious and service was great. We were sad that they no longer have their Caesar Salad, but their new salad was wonderful. Their delicious pizza is no longer on the menu either, but they have a yummy sort of flat bread. Looking forward to a return visit. Thanks
Overall our experience was fine, but when we first arrived the staff seemed quite frantic and it took ages for our waitress to even come for drink orders. The atmosphere was quite chaotic, which was a bit off-putting. But once our drinks order was placed service improved considerably.
Archeo is a place I had been wanting to go to for years now and I finally got to check it out. It was great. The place is beautiful and the service was fantastic. It was date night and my girlfriend liked it just as much as I did. The food was great too, and the price was decent as well—does not break the wallet :) we'll be back for sure! And we'll bring friends too!
Excellent restaurant and great food. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday night, but there had been a snowstorm and Winterlicious had just finished. The hangar steak was amazing, so tender and succulent, cooked to perfection with delicious sides. I started with the red pepper tomato soup. It was good, but not earth shattering.
The service was really really poor. I was left waiting for 10 minutes before being seated, even though I had a reservation.
The wait before anyone came to see me after being seated was 20 minutes.
The waiting time between meals was just too long, and the servers didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with this.
There were also two tables around me that asked to move because it was too cold in the restaurant.
Please take this note as something to improve upon. The food was good, but it just did not outperform the poor service and experience overall.
Unfortunately I would not recommend Archeo. I went with a friend/client during Winterlicious for diner. The price of the dinner was very reasonable, but the food itself was subpar at best. The cheese platter we got for dessert was shaved parmesan on some crackers, which was very surprising and undesirable to say the least. We also got a chocolate tiramisu cake for dessert, which was quite literally a convenience store chocolate muffin on a plate. It was almost offensive that they said it was tiramisu. The rest of the meal followed suit, not to be anything special. I compared to a meal i could easily cook at home (and i'm not a very good cook). The service was not great either. Would have loved to have 2 glasses of wine, but the server never came around so we had finished our meal before getting the chance to ask for another glass. We also had to wait almost 30 minutes to have the bill paid for, at which point we were eager to leave and could not flag down the waitress.
The restaurant is in a wonderful area and may have some potential if it were rented out for an event. I wouldn't go back though...
Once seated at Archeo, the service was cold and inefficient. Given that they were only serving the Winterlicious menu, one assumed that things would be brisk. Sadly not. When the food did arrive, it was uncooked, cold and inedible. We sent it back and the next round came back warm, but still uncooked and inedible. The worst part? They had the audacity to charge us for it. "I felt bad for you, so I gave a little discount," the waiter said to us condescendingly. $12 had been knocked off from a bill of around $100. Slow clap. Never returning. Actively sharing my review.
The beef Carpaccio was amazing, the pappardelle Bolognese would have been phenomenal if it were hot off the stove on the table, same for the Arctic char. The bittersweet cocoa can was dry. The Tonka bean panna cotta had too much apple jelly and had more of a jell-O texture than a panna cotta texture. The ambience was great, the service was amazing (present, available but not doating). When the front door opened a waft of cold air would swirl through the dining area.
