Arcadia – San Jose Ratings and Reviews
Appetizers, salads, and sides were outstanding. My NY steak was just okay. Didn't taste like a USDA prime steak and didn't seem to be seared very well to retain flavor. I had the same disappointment with a veal chop the last time I ate here. As a steakhouse specialty restaurant, it is important to get the meat right.
We went to Arcadia for my Daughter's 19th birthday. We had an early dinner as the teenagers turn into monsters if they don't eat. It was a Thursday evening we arrived at 6pm and there was only one other person there. We were pampered throughout by multiple waiters and the owner, best service I've had for years. The steaks and scallops were fabulous, my 17 year old son proclaimed he just had the best steak of his life. The starters were a bit disappointing..the lobster corn dogs were bland as was the Ahi Tuna. The blue cheese salad was a little 'blue cheesy'. The duck fries were awesome and no-one could stop eating them. The mac and cheese was a little watery and contained broccoli, so was shunned. Great place for steak and service.
Typically love Michael Mina restaurants and the perfect service. Overall the food was good...not great. Service suffered despite the fact that the restaurant was empty. When our main course arrived, the steaks were over done (asked med. rare..closer to med. well). Couldn't find our waiter...15 minutes before he came to the table to ask if everything was okay...we just said yes as we had given up trying to get it changed...but the real answer was no...Will not go back as he price/experience didn't meet expectations. Will continue to go to other Mina restaurants...especially the one in SF.
I've dined at RN74 & Michael Mina's, and thought i'd venture out to San Jose to give Arcadia a try. I brought my boyfriend out for his birthday, and everyone made it feel like a special occasion!
The server welcomed us and guided us through the menu, hilighting his favorites & the restaurants signatures. The Sommelier visited our table to assist with wine suggestions. (very tastefuly done, since i was on a budget) Halfway through dinner, the restaurant manager came by to say hello and to wish my boyfriend a happy birthday.
The food was amazing!!! You can tell this Chef is serious about execution. The tuna tartare, Kurabota pork & Chicken Mac n Cheese are fantastic! We're already planning our next visit.
The menu was different. Ordered a Filet which came on it's own so sides have to be added. Not impressed with the naming of the fries : Duck Fat Fries. Doesn't sound good to me. Would have liked to see a simple green salad on the starters menu.
My steak was great and cooked perfectly. Overall a nice experience. We were celebrating my birthday and received a comp dessert with Happy Birthday written on the plate. No embarrassing singing from the staff.
The service at Arcadia is amazing! We never had to look for our waiter and were checked upon often. I felt very pampered.
I got the flat iron Kobe steak. It was a generous portion and well cooked. The duck fat fries and truffle mac and cheese were excellent!
Service and food were excellent except the porterhouse veal chop. Waiter described as delicious with generous portions of meat on both sides of the bone like a porterhouse steak. What I got was like a bone-in NY steak. There was absolutely no meat on the filet side of the bone. I showed the waiter and he agreed but did nothing to remedy the situation. This isn't a big deal unless it occurs in a reputable steak & chop house such as Arcadia. The wonderful experience with everything else was tarnished because the chef did not select the appropriate cut for my entree. Very disappointed.
This was my first time at Arcadia and I visted during lunch. The food was amazing. It was quiet and not too many people there at the time. I am assuming it is a great dinner place as the wine list was great. This would be a great place for a date night or a special occassion.
Have to try the lobster corn dogs!
Presentation and food selection was great...definitely Mr. Mina's.
Server was the least helpful, never gave an honest opinion nor did he go out of his way to explain the menu. Was our first time & we had biz customers with us...all he did was point out the most expensive items on the menus when we asked for recommendations...didn't explain any dishes or descriptions...was a bummer
We were glad to find a steak house in San Jose, they are rare in the area. We were looking forward to try this restaunrat from the Mina´s corporation and we were not dissapointed. The steaks were excellent, cooked to perfection and the sides were magnificent. The mac and cheese is to die for. We will repeat. Our waiter, Eliseo (Cheo)was great!
Food was excellent. Service started out well, but then our server disappeared. After over 30 minutes waiting for a soda water and for our desserts to arrive, and not being able to find our server, we asked for the manager. She brought the missing items but refused to provide any explanation and we were shocked to see that not even the soda water was taken off our tab.
I wanted for a special place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. I found Arcadia online; it was listed as one of the top ten restaurants in San Jose. What a find! We started with the Artisan cheeses and assorted crackers and the "Tasting of all Hams". We were almost too full for dinner.
We shared the whole fried chicken and mac/cheese with a couple of glasses of merlot. How delicious the food, how wonderful the presentation and how great the service. Couldn't have gotten a more knowledgeable, attentive waiter.
We shared a very thin slice of carrot cake. It was okey; however, I've had better.
All in all, this was an excellent choice for a such a special occasion. Highly recommended.
One of the dishes was a little underwhelming - very small about of brussel sprouts and cold. Also, sole was very fishy smelling, and I did not feel well very soon after eating it. Too much activity - distracting - when convention center let out for lunch. My guest appeared to enjoy her crab sandwich.
the foie gras slider is worth the visit. Modern American steakhouse. Hmmm...the first "specialty" steak that was served was way overcooked. troubling for a steakhouse. and the one question I have is, for an American steakhouse, why were there so few American wines to choose from in the by-the-glass program?
From the moment we walked in the restaurant felt comfortable and welcoming. We enjoyed the cowboy steak. For me it was deliciously seasoned and caused me forget the accompanying sauce. Loved the spinach side and cauliflower sides. I hope to find these sides one day without the cream or cheese. I guess I am a minimalist at heart. :) Will put Arcadia on our list to return and recommend it.
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Arcadia. The service was excellent. The green salad was tasty (though a bit too much dressing...get it on the side) and the fresh baked bread rocked. We had the rib eye and the skirt steak. Very good and plenty of rib eye left to take home. The mashed potatoes were good, too. The soup and appetizer choices were a bit limited.
We were very happy with Arcadia overall. We were seated at a nice table, service was prompt. The bread and butter and tomato spread were excellent, as was the chicken Mac n cheese and banana tart. The black cod was just alright. We found the restaurant slightly overpriced, but will definitely return the next time we are in San Jose.
