Over priced. Especially the wine. No reason to charge 4 to 5 times retail. Very disappointing.
Food was ok but not up to the high expectations I had going into this restaurant.
There is a better steakhouse within five minutes walking distance.
Excellent food, especially the mushroom soup, the cuts/cheese tray (with the unique goose prosciutto) and the OUTSTANDING and perfectly-cooked foie gras which is legal again in CA, after the insanity of the past few years.
Quiet, spacious restaurant.
A somewhat limited menu, but what they do they do quite well. Definitely high end both in quality and price. Service was good.
Great time at the Arcadia. Came back for dessert after the show. had a nice time.
Manny and the team took great care of us once again! Delicious oysters, steaks perfectly prepared.
It was not good, it was over priced, it was over promised and under delivered!!
The dessert presentation was lovely - only good part of night was looking at it. Didn’t taste as good as it looked
Fantastic as always!
The dinner was amazing, we ordered tuna tar tar, stake skewers and fillet mignon. Really enjoyed good food and nice service.
Had to wait several minutes for a table even though it was not busy at all, and we had a reservation. Once we got a table, we didn’t see our server for quite a long time. After we ordered, our salad came fairly quickly, but it was at least a half hour more that we had to wait to get our entrees. Valid wise, not good. I was charged $5 for a side of cheese for my baked potato and creamy horseradish. In my opinion, that should be on the potato in the first place.
The menu is good, but it has remained exactly the same for years, time for an update. We like to go to Arcadia on opera and symphony nights because it is located across the street from the back entrance to the California Theater. Very convenient. Wine selection is good. But please, we want to go to Arcadia seven times a season, and we need more variety in the offerings....I'm ready to bring a picnic basket just for something different....
We have eaten there several times in the past year and been very pleased as a couple. We made our reservation for 6 at 5:30 pm since we had a concert to attend and didn't wish to be rushed. We were initially taken to a table that we did not like the location of...service doors/kitchen counter and it was due to their lack of sufficient servers evidently. We told them we saw a perfectly good location that was set for 6 and asked to be moved...they initially said no, and asked us to wait in the entrance area. The restaurant NEVER filled our original table, and was very sparsely occupied during our entire time...we will NOT return during the remainder of this year. Service needs to be improved, food selections have been the same since our previous visits in 2017-18, and while portions have become much smaller, prices have increased and are not accurately stated when reserving on Open Table.
Excellent meal. The sea bass was flaky and most cooked perfectly. The braised ribs fell apart with just a fork again perfectly cooked. Excellent meal and get service
Great service and excellent food. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes.
Food was very plain.
For a Michael Mina Restaraunt, this was deplorable a Crab Cake sandwich $24.00 and not very good this is San Jose, not New York. No silverware was provided when the food came we had to ask. There was no value at this restaurant.
Absolutely wonderful! Chef Paul is amazing. What a wonderful service!!! Thank you!
We were seated a little later than our reservation. Serve was great and food was wonderful.
We went before a musical at SJCPA. Due to the proximity we thought it was perfect. We arrived at 6:00 pm and the show started at 8:00. I ordered an appetizer and my wife a salad. Both ordered entrees. No coffee, no dessert. We were seated just as the lights dimmed barely making it on time. The server knew it was going slow and was very apologetic as was the manager. They credited our salad and appetizer. This was very nice of the restaurant. At least they know when service should be better. The food was average for the price. I don’t know if I would go back. My intent is for this review to be balanced. Not a slam but there are improvement areas.
This is convenient to the Opera House and the food is quite good! BUT, we got there at 5:45 and told them we needed to be out in time for 8:00 curtain. We got our drinks (which took too long) got our salads and then waited, and waited and waited for our Mains--nothing complicated--sea bass, skirt steak and short ribs. The food wasn't delivered until 7:40--we were quite anxious and upset and didn't have time for coffee or dessert and had to rush through eating. The waiter did his best, the hostess apologized and finally the manager apologized, but it didn't make the food come any faster...Very disappointing!!
Excellent all around, but I’ve been going there for 14 years—PLEASE PLEASE CHANGE THE MENU. Same old same old....??
Will never go back. Steak looked like charcoal, Waiter
apologized and I felt badly for him but overall myself and friends agreed it was overall a huge disappointment
Arcadia is a high end restaurant with a limited menu. We have eaten there numerous times, the food has varied from very good to excellent. This time the food was disappointing, especially given the cost. My wife had the scallops (4 reasonably sized pieces) which were distinctly not remarkable. I had the short ribs, which was good. For both dishes, the accompanying vegetables were quite unremarkable.
The service was quite good.
Hadn't been to Arcadia in a couple of years, so had a pre-opera meal on a Saturday night. Missed the tablecloths greatly. This is a steakhouse Michael Mina style set in the downtown Marriott Hotel. We skipped the steaks but enjoyed our salads (caesar and iceberg blt), chicken with truffle mac and cheese and the fish special (sea bass). Duck fat fries with three dipping sauces are served instead of bread. Portions are enormous. Somehow, we had a bit of room for some of the ice creams. The wine list is heavy on reds; we chose an Alsatian riesling which turned out not be in stock and was replaced with a comparable wine. A little expensive but worth the splurge if you don't dine there every day.
I think I ordered the wrong thing. I didn't like my entree and I don't like having my soup poured into a dry bowl. Salad was just.......
Amazing food. Best steak ever. All was 5 star.
Definitely a disappointment..The service was slow and when I asked about the possibility of bread or crackers to go with my salad I was told we don't have/serve bread. Hmmmm
Went for brunch before a Sunday matinee. They quit serving breakfast foods at 11:00 so our only choices were from the lunch menu which was pretty limited. We started with "Lobster Corn Dogs" which were very mushy and resembled baby food in a corn meal wrapper and tasted just as bland. My guest had the crab cake sandwich; also very mushy and unremarkable. I had the chicken clubhouse; chicken seemed microwaved, avocado spread was extremely sparse and the overall sandwich was dry and underwhelming. Neither of us finished even half of our sandwiches. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, drinks took more time than they should have and service was spotty. It was a basic hotel diner, nothing special.
Excellent food and service everytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We used to love this restaurant. We even had the rehearsal dinner for our wedding here almost a decade ago. We came after a SJ Sharks game this weekend and had really terrible service - water not refilled, no check ins to see if we wanted to order another drink, slow, inattentive service. Apps and entrees came out at the same time.
The food was delicious, but we did have upset stomachs after...
We probably won't return. It's too bad, because this restaurant held a special place in our hearts!!
Hotel web site says dress code is jacket. Not true.
Filet mignon was the best steak that I have had anywhere. Complimentary fries are great as well.
bar service was very slow. waiter was good, but had to wait for the bar.
First time here, wish the hostess would have explained the options for seating a little better. Had a table/booth but a booth would have been preferred if we had known where they were. There was one available. Our salad was very late in being served so the server didn't charge us. A nice touch is the complimentary french fry tasting appetizer. The food was wonderful. Will try this restaurant again. My husband said his filet mignon was like "butter".
Nice atmosphere and quiet on a Friday night.
Mushroom Bisque and bone-in Ribeye Steak are highly recommended . Aged steak was ok but not reconnended
The lobster pot pie was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! The service was great, as always.
We had visited Arcadia when it first opened and were unimpressed for a Michael Mina restaurant. We decided to give it another try and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was this time around. The strip steak in particular was better than most high end steak places we have visited lately - tender and cooked perfectly. Ruben also gave us excellent and professional service. Need to keep this place in mind from now on.
Excellent food, BUT PLEASE CHANGE UR MENU!
Dining there for many treats & the same menu.
We went here for New Years Eve dinner and they had a pre-fixed menu for $135 per person. The service was terrible. It took us 45 minutes to receive our entree. They waiter did apologize and comped one round of drinks but after spending $400 on a dinner for two adults and two children we left hungry. For a pre-fixed menu at $135 per person we should have left full and satisfied. We left feeling hungry and taken advantage of. We could have spent $400 at Mortons and actually received $400 worth of food.
