Excellent meal. The sea bass was flaky and most cooked perfectly. The braised ribs fell apart with just a fork again perfectly cooked. Excellent meal and get service
Great service and excellent food. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes.
Food was very plain.
For a Michael Mina Restaraunt, this was deplorable a Crab Cake sandwich $24.00 and not very good this is San Jose, not New York. No silverware was provided when the food came we had to ask. There was no value at this restaurant.
Absolutely wonderful! Chef Paul is amazing. What a wonderful service!!! Thank you!
We were seated a little later than our reservation. Serve was great and food was wonderful.
We went before a musical at SJCPA. Due to the proximity we thought it was perfect. We arrived at 6:00 pm and the show started at 8:00. I ordered an appetizer and my wife a salad. Both ordered entrees. No coffee, no dessert. We were seated just as the lights dimmed barely making it on time. The server knew it was going slow and was very apologetic as was the manager. They credited our salad and appetizer. This was very nice of the restaurant. At least they know when service should be better. The food was average for the price. I don’t know if I would go back. My intent is for this review to be balanced. Not a slam but there are improvement areas.
This is convenient to the Opera House and the food is quite good! BUT, we got there at 5:45 and told them we needed to be out in time for 8:00 curtain. We got our drinks (which took too long) got our salads and then waited, and waited and waited for our Mains--nothing complicated--sea bass, skirt steak and short ribs. The food wasn't delivered until 7:40--we were quite anxious and upset and didn't have time for coffee or dessert and had to rush through eating. The waiter did his best, the hostess apologized and finally the manager apologized, but it didn't make the food come any faster...Very disappointing!!
Excellent all around, but I’ve been going there for 14 years—PLEASE PLEASE CHANGE THE MENU. Same old same old....??
Will never go back. Steak looked like charcoal, Waiter
apologized and I felt badly for him but overall myself and friends agreed it was overall a huge disappointment
Arcadia is a high end restaurant with a limited menu. We have eaten there numerous times, the food has varied from very good to excellent. This time the food was disappointing, especially given the cost. My wife had the scallops (4 reasonably sized pieces) which were distinctly not remarkable. I had the short ribs, which was good. For both dishes, the accompanying vegetables were quite unremarkable.
The service was quite good.
Hadn't been to Arcadia in a couple of years, so had a pre-opera meal on a Saturday night. Missed the tablecloths greatly. This is a steakhouse Michael Mina style set in the downtown Marriott Hotel. We skipped the steaks but enjoyed our salads (caesar and iceberg blt), chicken with truffle mac and cheese and the fish special (sea bass). Duck fat fries with three dipping sauces are served instead of bread. Portions are enormous. Somehow, we had a bit of room for some of the ice creams. The wine list is heavy on reds; we chose an Alsatian riesling which turned out not be in stock and was replaced with a comparable wine. A little expensive but worth the splurge if you don't dine there every day.
I think I ordered the wrong thing. I didn't like my entree and I don't like having my soup poured into a dry bowl. Salad was just.......
Amazing food. Best steak ever. All was 5 star.
Definitely a disappointment..The service was slow and when I asked about the possibility of bread or crackers to go with my salad I was told we don't have/serve bread. Hmmmm
Went for brunch before a Sunday matinee. They quit serving breakfast foods at 11:00 so our only choices were from the lunch menu which was pretty limited. We started with "Lobster Corn Dogs" which were very mushy and resembled baby food in a corn meal wrapper and tasted just as bland. My guest had the crab cake sandwich; also very mushy and unremarkable. I had the chicken clubhouse; chicken seemed microwaved, avocado spread was extremely sparse and the overall sandwich was dry and underwhelming. Neither of us finished even half of our sandwiches. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, drinks took more time than they should have and service was spotty. It was a basic hotel diner, nothing special.
Excellent food and service everytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We used to love this restaurant. We even had the rehearsal dinner for our wedding here almost a decade ago. We came after a SJ Sharks game this weekend and had really terrible service - water not refilled, no check ins to see if we wanted to order another drink, slow, inattentive service. Apps and entrees came out at the same time.
The food was delicious, but we did have upset stomachs after...
We probably won't return. It's too bad, because this restaurant held a special place in our hearts!!
Hotel web site says dress code is jacket. Not true.
Filet mignon was the best steak that I have had anywhere. Complimentary fries are great as well.
bar service was very slow. waiter was good, but had to wait for the bar.
First time here, wish the hostess would have explained the options for seating a little better. Had a table/booth but a booth would have been preferred if we had known where they were. There was one available. Our salad was very late in being served so the server didn't charge us. A nice touch is the complimentary french fry tasting appetizer. The food was wonderful. Will try this restaurant again. My husband said his filet mignon was like "butter".
Nice atmosphere and quiet on a Friday night.
Mushroom Bisque and bone-in Ribeye Steak are highly recommended . Aged steak was ok but not reconnended
The lobster pot pie was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! The service was great, as always.
We had visited Arcadia when it first opened and were unimpressed for a Michael Mina restaurant. We decided to give it another try and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was this time around. The strip steak in particular was better than most high end steak places we have visited lately - tender and cooked perfectly. Ruben also gave us excellent and professional service. Need to keep this place in mind from now on.
Excellent food, BUT PLEASE CHANGE UR MENU!
Dining there for many treats & the same menu.
We went here for New Years Eve dinner and they had a pre-fixed menu for $135 per person. The service was terrible. It took us 45 minutes to receive our entree. They waiter did apologize and comped one round of drinks but after spending $400 on a dinner for two adults and two children we left hungry. For a pre-fixed menu at $135 per person we should have left full and satisfied. We left feeling hungry and taken advantage of. We could have spent $400 at Mortons and actually received $400 worth of food.
My girlfriend and I had an unbelievable steak dinner here. They price up their wine pretty intensely, but that’s par for the course for most steakhouses. I’d recommend everything we tried. Ahi tuna tartare for a starter; the New York strip and the short rib for entrees; the wild mushrooms and the Brussels sprouts for sides; and the whites chocolate bread pudding for dessert. What an amazing meal.
Great service. Good seafood. Good ambiance that allows for quality dinner conversation.
It was a very slow night so for us it was great. We needed to make a show so we needed fast service. The food was exceptional except that I'm a vegan & there weren't even any vegetarian choices so I ordered a salad and two side dishes which were prepared wonderfully & put on one big plate which was nice instead of two small plates. My husband had the beef ribs and you could just see the beef pull apart, he loved it. Great food, but not inexpensive.
very good food, good service. But we were going to a show at the civic and were seated 20 minutes late, so we couldn't have coffee. I wouldn't go before a show.
We first had the cheese charcuterie board, a really nice tasty spread . Two in our party had the
filet mignon that was very tender and cooked to perfection. One had the eye of rib eye, very very tasty. This is definitely a to-go place!
Steaks were fabulous, both the filet and the bone in ribeye. Try the Sunchokes. Delicious!
Service was great and food was wonderful. Valet service made it very convenient to park during busy holiday season.
The restaurant wasn’t full, so why did our meat and potatoes arrive before the broccolini? And why ask us what wine we want with dinner right before the dinner arrives? Our Steaks got cold waiting for the wine. Totally not thoughtful, just meh. Are you sure that Michael Mina still owns this restaurant ? Hard to believe he would let anyone serve these dishes.
Arrived 4 minutes before our reservation time and were told that we would need to wait and we would be seated when our time arrived. Then proceeded to sit for 20 minutes . .. walk-ins turned away, but 50% of tables unoccupied. We ordered only from the appetizer menu. Soup was good if a little small on volume, Caesar Salad was good but not spectacular. Side of shrimp was rather plain.
No bread to start off, which is one way I like to judge a place...how good is that opening feeler? French fries instead with three sauces, all rather standard fare. The kicker. .. the fries arrived after we were served. 2nd drink (had to do something to drown my disappointment) was forgotten it seems for a while. Luckily, the check arrived quickly as we had theater tickets. We never saw a dessert menu.
All in all, a disappointment.
An upmarket steakhouse that doesn't get pretentious. It's good ingredients, simply and skillfully prepared. We tried three different cuts, the Ribeye, the Filet Mignon and the Skirt, all at medium rare. All three were tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, the spices and sauces either enhancing the natural flavor of the meat, or complimentary to it to add interest. Sides were take with the same approach, blending flavors to create a subtle but satisfying blend.
Service was top notch, our glasses were never empty and the waiter showed a good grasp of wjat actually paired well, instead of simply reccommending the most expensive things on the menu.
Atmosphere was tasteful and understated, leaving you feeling welcomed but completely free to focus on your group and food. Their alcohol selection is well curated and has a good amount of options without leaving one feeling overwhelmed.
If you have a show to go to afterwards make sure to set your reservation for a couple hours before. This should not be a rushed meal. If you get there right at the start of dinner service you might be able to walk in. any later and your best bet is a reservation.
overall a fantastic experience and well worth the money!
Wait staff was excellent; professional and friendly.
Food was served quickly; wonderful salad and entrees.
