Araxi Restaurant & Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food here is usually one of the best in Whistler. Still is. It’s a bit on the expensive side but well worth it. The wine list is deep and there are some gems in there as well as some outrageously overpriced. The food was surprisingly being served a tad slow this year (the waiting staff were very attentive though) which I found slightly unacceptable given the amount you pay for service here. We sat for at least 20 minutes after our order was taken before the fresh oysters were served. By that time, I was buzzing a bit since there was nothing else except the bottle of wine. I’d say twice slower than their normal pace. We eat here every year. The group had just taken over and reopened IL Camineto and perhaps the kitchen staff got thinned out a bit. Nevertheless, I highly recommend eating here when in Whistler. The seafood is so fresh and outstandingly prepared.
Araxi is a must stop while in Whistler for my husband and I. This visit was no exception. Fantastic service and attention to our needs. We ordered way too much food, but couldn't stop eating because everything was so delicious. Seafood tower is a must, and their venison is so tender and juicy.
Every time we come to Whistler we are at the bar within half an hour of arrival! We especially like the apres ski menu from 3-5 and always order the oysters which are always fresh and delicious, the charcuterie board that is our personal favorite, and their delicious truffle fries!
It's got a nice atmosphere and the cocktails and service are top notch...you couldn't ask for more.
I'd like more steak options for dinner, other than that prepare to enjoy a great meal every time!
What a gem of a place! From start to finish, the hospitality, service, presentation and food were Michelin level! How fortunate to have such an outstanding team of chefs and wait staff at a ski resort. Everything was delicious, we can’t wait to return for another magical evening!
Our honey moon celebration dinner. Absolutely amazing food and service. Our server i think, tessa was her name. Short dark curlier hair with bangs (we told her about our dog Walt, just want to make sure she gets kudos) she was one of the best servers we have ever had! Will be back for sure!
Araxi is almost an icon in Whistler. In a great position, the service never disappoint and the food has maintained its high standard in the past 20+ years we have been visiting Whistler. The seafood platter as a shared appetizer is well worth trying & reasonably priced. We had 6 adults & 2 children in our party & we had a mix of meat & seafood mains which were all well presented & inventive in flavour.
This was our 4th time to Araxi in the passed 5 years. We always enjoy it. Great vibe. Wonderful service. Lively. Good food. My only critique is how high the prices have gotten there. Most entrees were $35+, and quite a few well into the $40's. And while the food was really good, I can't say that it equaled the cost. We will return to Araxi because we love the selection of entrees, appy's, and wine but will make sure we save up more for our next visit. Overall, really liked it!
Frenetic, chaotic and loud restaurant right out of 1980's Miami. Took almost 3 hrs for dinner without dessert. A few of the dishes were very good, but we had an extremely undercooked steak, and an absent server. Not worth the price. Overall, give it a miss.
I have never had a bad meal here. Having said that, yes, the meal was delicious, but the service was only okay. The waiter was difficult to understand and had to come back twice to confirm the order. There were two of us, mind you. Why wait staff do not write things down is beyond me. The sommelier was excellent, though.
With great anticipation our party arrived to Araxi and the staff was very welcoming and the sommelier very informative. The entire party was disappointed with the menu and options. Please, please, please stay away from the pork...it’s appearance and taste is similar to a hot dog. Additionally the cauliflower is basically steamed and lacks taste. The beets and burrata were a hit as was the venison. The party agreed that there was no need to ever return.
Went to Araxi on Tuesday the 18th for my girlfriend's birthday dinner while visiting Whistler. As soon as we checked in our coats were hung up and they said happy birthday. My request for a nice romantic spot was taken seriously and given what looked like the best table in house to me. For someone who works in the industry everything from the service from the nice Australian girl (who was extremely knowledgeable) to the food and ambience was amazing. Even brought out a gluten free dessert for her to end.
We enjoy a trip to Araxi every time we travel to Whistler. The food , decor and wine are a wonderful fine dining experience. Although we know they are known for their extensive wine list, a little more variety at the lower end of the price spectrum would be nice. The food was delicious. We started with a selection of raw oysters. For our entrees, I had steelhead trout and my partner had the venison, both exceptional. Our only complaint was the noise level. We went to 2 other fine dining restaurants while in Whistler, and Araxi was much noisier. We could not hear or understand our waiter. She spoke with a heavy accent and spoke sort of down to the floor, not to us. We had to ask for her to repeat what she said, but at some point, we just gave up. Unfortunately, this put a damper on our experience because we could not fully enjoy what we might have learned about our dishes and we could not talk to each other.
