Araxi Restaurant & Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
Very good food. Pretty place. BUT it took 2.25 hours before our main dishes arrived. We had to box dessert. Waiter was new and very pleaaant but even after multiple inquiries as for delays, no explanation. And still took forever. So it took away from an otherwise very good dinner. The fixed price menu was good but the restaurant seemed to push you towards that with no other real sushi options.
I found the food cooked to perfection, but the food did not blow me away. It felt like their passion for really creative and GREAT food was not in the kitchen.
I had been looking forward to the food there for a very long time, again cooked to perfection, but lacked passion.
I loved our experience here! Both the food and service were exceptional. We had a couple of appetizers to start but the octopus tostada was to die for. Our server, Katie, was very knowledgeable and easy going. She checked in to see how we were doing every now and then but for the most part gave us the privacy that we had hoped for. The manager also checked in on us and other tables in the restaurant which was refreshing to see as that does lack in many higher end restaurants. For dessert we got the creme brûlée which was great! Our server also brought out a second little dessert platter as we were celebrating a birthday. Overall our experience at Araxi was a solid 10/10. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family.
Araxi Whistler never fails to live up to the wonderful reputation it has acquired over the years. The fall menu was filled with local produce, (butternut squash risotto with onion wall), that was creatively displayed, and cooked to perfection. The five course dinner was a visual delight! The wine menu has so many wonderful opportunities to expand the palate and the service is a joy. It is not often anymore where you can go to a restaurant and enjoy a slow leisurely dinner over three hours. We never felt we were being rushed as each course was perfectly timed. It has been a couple of years since we had been there and everything was still as wonderful as ever.
Araxi lived up to its reputation for being an exceptional restaurant. The regular menu is limited in selections but they were also offering an outstanding 5 course meal for $36 Canadian. Service was attentive with the restaurant packed and energetic. Highly recommend and looking forward to dining at Araxi on our next trip to Whistler. We had an appetizer and cocktail before dinner at the sister restaurant Bar Oso......also excellent!
Food was great. Too bad service was not great. Ordered wine pairing and sommelier did not even come to tell us why it was paired with the food. Instead, waiter was responsible and he didn’t know what it was or why it was paired. Wines chosen was not great either
The Seafood Tower was wonderful. In general the food was excellent although the halibut was overcooked. The cocktails were outstanding, the service very good. The restaurant manager came around to all the diners and made sure everything was going well, which was a nice touch. We dined from 5:15 to 7:15 and when we started the meal the sound level was low, by 6:30 it was very high. We had a nice experience, but the sound level was irritating.
it's a lovely place with great ambiance and service. the food was cooked just right to perfection... especially the halibut and scallops. the chocolate and lemon tart desserts are freshly made in house and very delicious! i recommend the restaurant if you're visiting Whistler.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary (and also post-fondo), and it was all-around a wonderful experience - all the waiting staff were excellent, and our table server was very attentive and friendly. The maitre'd (I think) came by during our main meal to check that everything was going smoothly. The food was excellent - the tuna charashi appy dish was beautifully presented and was actually good value for the amount of food. Our mains, the venison and arctic char were cooked perfectly. We were quite satisfied, but ordered the petit fours for dessert, which was a cherry on top as they personalized the dish with a happy anniversary writing in chocolate for us. I would highly recommend for any special occasion!
The freshest local farm produces and ingredients, the creative cocking and combination of ingredients make the excellent meal. The services were excellent, they removed all unused silverwares and placing new one to serving next dish, provide additional plates for us to share foods, they divided our soup into individual bowls when we shared them.
Great experience for a one-night Whistler trip. Food was incredible, service was on point, and overall a fantastic choice for a fancier dinner while vacationing in world-class Whistler.
Would recommend their rissotto and their chirashi appetizer. Sublime! They also have an extensive cocktail and wine list - perfect to match the food.
My first visit to Araxi was to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Our server (Tyler) was attentive, professional and helped make our night special with a little extra surprise for the occasion. We ended up back there the next afternoon for their happy hour oysters and some drinks. Both visits were excellent! We'll definitely return.
Wonderful evening to celebrate our anniversary. Paola was our server and was absolutely excellent. So friendly and personable. Food was incredible and be sure to have a cocktail called the Frozen Vine! The halibut was cooked perfectly - just a wonderful meal.
Let me start with the positive. The food was tasty. Not amazing, but very good. The restaurant itself has good ambiance and the outdoor patio is a great spot to eat in summer time. Unfortunately, that's where the positivity ended for us. We are there over Labor Day weekend for our 8th anniversary and chose Araxi because we wanted to do something special and get a little dressed up for the occasion. There were about 5 hostesses at the front when we arrived and it was obvious that they were training new staff. When they went to seat us the girl was clearly confused about which table to take us to and she left us standing in the middle of the restaurant while she ran back out front and never returned. A waiter then came up and walked us to a table nearby and when we asked if it was possible to sit near the window he said that those tables had been specially reserved. No one was ever seated at one of those two tables for the entire two hours we were there. That was just the beginning with our server. Long story short, he was incredibly condescending and pretentious throughout our entire meal and was obviously irritated when I told him about my very genuine food allergies. My husband moved his wine glass a couple times and the server (who's name I can't remember, but he was tall, maybe in his early 30's and had a short ponytail) kept moving it back whenever he came to the table. I have worked in fine dining restaurants and used to be a concierge at a Four Seasons Hotel and I am very familiar with proper fine dining service. This was not that. It was just uptight, stuffy and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. At these prices I expect service to be gracious, warm and non-invasive. They were kind enough to send us some little sweets for our anniversary but it couldn't make up for the cold, pretentious service. We will never go back and I recommend looking elsewhere if you want a truly enjoyable and special dining experience.
Very nice restaurant on the slopes of Whistler. We chose to eat outside where we could people-watch.
My halibut was perfectly prepared and tender. My wife found her mushroom pasta delectable.
And a lovely young server who was very friendly and helpful. Good times had by all!
