The staff was great, and the chef, Jimmy, was unbelievably welcoming and provided multiple free bits of the BBQ spicy tuna! The sushi was delicious, we'll definitely be back!

When I arrived at 11:30 for my 11:45 business lunch i informed the hostess that my clients would be in a rush and the lunch would need to be quick. When the waiter arrived, I noted again the time crunch and we ordered immediately. We were a party of 4. There was a table of 12 that was seated 10-12 minutes AFTER we ordered and there were several parties of two seated after we ordered. ALL were served before my clients were served. I had to ask the hostess to intervene. She was very snippy and had had a bad attitude when SHE brought our food several minutes later. It was a horrible experience... we even discussed leaving and getting a McDonalds hamburger. This was a favorite meeting spot but we will find a new restaurant in the future.

The food and service were excellent. A good choice for business lunches in the south/central part of the Loop.

My wife and I both work downtown--at Willis Tower and in the Loop. AraOn has become one of our "go to" spots for after work, pre-opera, or pre-show dinners. It doesn't do a big dinner business--it's mostly a lunch place--and so the restaurant is very quiet and relaxing, with an intimate feel, while the food is interesting, creative, and tasty. At least in the evening, they are perhaps over-staffed, which is a plus for diners, as they are very attentive to your needs and always make sure that you get out and on to your show on time. We are fond of the Korean entrees, particularly the Bento boxes and the pork belly saan, but the Arctic char is also one of our favorite dishes. Thumbs up!

The hostess had an attitude since we got there. We ordered our food. Appetizer was quick and taste was good. But after 45 mins later we still haven’t got our entrees and no one checked on us to give us any updates. A’ve been here many times but the experience this time really fall short. I might give this place another chance but will definitely never recommend it to anyone as a lunch spot.

We had an early pre-show dinner here. We were the first ones there. We accepted all the waitresses recommendations just for fun and it was excellent. She brought a little treat to get us started, not sure what it was but it was delicious. Then we ordered the Teriyaki tofu salad, the angry crab, the Araon Chef Special. We enjoyed it all with a couple glasses of wine. Then we topped it off with green tea creme brûlée. A very nice evening, then on to a show!

I was very disappointed. I took a client there and they sat us at a random table by the door. Whenever the door would open the wind hit us. Also, the service was very slow. Took forever to order and we wanted to order more food but no one ever came back. It's never a good thing to leave a restaurant still hungry.

I was treated here for my birthday last year and I brought my husband here for his birthday this year. He absolutely loved it! Everything we ate was delicious and the service was awesome. The staff took very good care of us. We'll definitely be back.

A well hidden spot off the lobby at the northwest corner of Adams and LaSalle filled with diners quickly by 7 but paid attention to our need to be out for a show. The owner/chef brought treats we enjoyed - he seemed genuinely interested in us.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in downtown Chicago. While busy at lunch, dinner is much quieter. It's only a few blocks further from the theaters and well worth the longer walk to them after a tasty dinner. I also appreciate that it isn't super loud, so easy to have a conversation.

Just okay, food was good but cold atmosphere. Not the best place to go with friends. It’s more of a date night spot.

Took wife for dinner before theatre. Sauted scallops with creamed leek app was killer. Sushi rolls were solid, pricing for downtown was reasonable. We had good service, were in and out in plenty of time for the show. Good choice in the financial district.

Who needs a reservation when you’re not even going to be served once you’re seated? Went for lunch on a Friday, actually had a reservation. Was seated, provided water. That was the last time we were provided anything to consume. Waitress came by 10 Hey Min after being seated, it was busy so we understood. The two of us ordered a sandwich and edamame, no drinks. 20 min after that we asked if we could have our edamame and the waitress quickly responded “food should be ready/ I’ll go get it” we then advised her we never received the edamame and she responded “oh yes, let me go get it”. 15 additional min later NO EDAMAME AND NO SANDWICHES. 45 min total we spent there and were served water, nothing else We then decided to leave. As we were walking out we advised the hostess, who was very kind and had served us on previous occasions, that we’d been here 45 min and had not even received our edamame. She said sorry and to let her check but at that point or lunch hour was wasted and we had to get back to work.
I understand it could get busy, but when the 2 people in the table next to us get seated after and get served Before we do (their SALMON looked delicious btw), then there’s a serious problem. Either she forgot to input our order or forgot to grab our food. Either way, we will not be going back and we will make sure to tell our partners the same.

This is a stylish restaurant. It has an Asian cuisine but heavily influenced by Japanese. The sushi and sashimi were exceptional. Featuring extremely fresh fish, the taste of the ocean was never far away. The dragon roll had a particularly deft crunch to it. Our server could not have been more welcoming or more professional. The wine list was good but like most Chicago dining, was over priced. This is a truly wonderful place to share a meal with someone that you like.

Disappointed as I have been coming here for lunch for years. Fast, courteous service and good food. In and out in about 45 minutes which is perfect for a lunch work. Alas, on this visit it was in and out in almost one and a half hours - our food didn't come until over a half hour, and then we could not get our check and had to ask the greeter to get our check for us. I don't know what happened but it was a bad day and a big inconvenience for us as we were running up against scheduled conference calls. Will go back but hope this doesn't happen again.

Service and ambiance was wonderful. Unfortunately the menu was not. We came for Asian fusion and sushi. What we got were dishes that were foreign to us. We ordered “yellow tail” and were served a large grilled bone. It was the leftover fish from the sushi chef. We had others but we were not pleased with them. The only good dish was the Asian ceviche. We left after the appetizers. No dinner.

We dined in on Friday and it was not busy at all. However, for some reason we did not get a server and had a hard time ordering food and getting someone to ask for something. It's so odd that we did not even get a server at our table. Although the owner? came to us and took our order but still we waited so long and it was not pleasant. The food was good but a little overpriced for the size and quality. I used to come here once in a while but i would not come back for a while.

Wonderful restaurant in the Loop of downtown Chicago. We only had sushi, although there are several other options on the menu. My husband said it was the best sushi (maki rolls) that he's ever had. Also, we were given a complimentary appetizer and the chef, Jimmy, came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with everything. He then brought us another complimentary sample of another sushi. It is a bit pricey for sushi, but that is expected in this area of the city. Overall, a very good experience.

Took some colleagues here after a long work day. Incredibly fresh sushi, sashimi that was hand crafted beautifully. Every dish looked amazing and the fish was very fresh. The spicy tuna roll was my favorite appetizer; wish we would have ordered more. Scallops were cooked perfectly. The pear sorbet with berry soup was light and delicious; perfect finish to a fabulous meal. Will come back next time I'm in Chicago.

I've been to AraOn several times, both with friends and with clients, and it's always been a good experience. The food is delicious, the location is great, prices are reasonable. Generally speaking, service is quick. This time around, though, service was like molasses. We waited forever for our food and for our check. The whole thing took our group of 4 nearly an hour and a half to get through, when in the past I've done lunch in 45 min to an hour. It was incredibly frustrating. I hope this was just a fluke, otherwise, I will have to rethink coming here.

I love Japanese food and AraOn has a new take on it. It is a French-Japanese fusion that is not too over the top but adds a real distinctive taste to traditional Japanese Sushi and other Japanese foods. Really really liked it and recommend without hesitation. The Chef came to our table and we asked about one dish we had and he offered to show us another twist on it that is not on the menu and we loved it even more. Great place.
