Japanese

The warm and charming ambience Arami provides in its eatery is matched by the contemporary Japanese cuisine it serves. Tasty starter options include the sea urchin uni shooter with wasabi tobiko, the Bluefin tuna toro tartare bite with Asian pear and caviar and the spicy octopus spring roll. Arami crafts a popular selection of ramen noodles, of the shio and shoyu variety, as well as a vast selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri pieces so you may choose your own combination. Other popular entrees include the pork cutlet tonkatsu donburi in a soy balsamic sauce, seared hotate scallops with a ponzu brown butter and the Hamachi truffle yellowtail with mushrooms.

For a sweet and artful end to your meal, try Arami's mochi assortment, which comes with red velvet, green tea, blueberry and mint chocolate chip pieces.

Arami was highly recommended by a good (local) friend. And, had a terrific Omakase video on the website. We were seated at the sushi counter (our request when making the rez), but directly in front of the ‘order Machine’ which buzzed, clicked, and spit out tickets throughout our meal. Ordered an Ominkase dinner only to be told we needed to phone and order in-advance. Huh?! So we asked for a sashimi platter, chef’s choice. It was uninspiring. We had a couple of ‘specialty rolls’. They were marginally better. The decor is spare (loft-like, looks unfinished). The sake list is decent. The service was by and large professional, but not polished or personable. Arami is a whole that adds up to considerably less than it’s less than average parts. Very disappointing.

Very creative and tasty selections on the CRW Menu! Sat at the sushi bar and I definitely want to go back to try their sushi!

Overall i thought the food was good. Portions were quite small however and the food was not as good as the high price might suggest. In particular i was unimpressed with the ramen during restaurant week.

Overall it’s ok but I don’t eat spicy food at all. This is the place that 98% of the food are spicy. I was so hungry when I got out of the restaurant. I am 100% sure I won’t come back.

Went for pre fixe menu with girlfriend during restaurant week and the food was very disappointing in portion, flavor, quality, and presentation. Even the "sushi"-like course was sinuous and didn't taste like even medium quality fish. After paying $$$ we felt duped and taken of advantage of by how poor the experience was. Cannot recommend this place when there are so many amazing dining experiences in this city with creative special menus.

Look, I get it, Sushi is expensive stuff and I don' expect to have cheap sushi dinner. BUT, when a $6 order of shishito peppers contains precisely 6 peppers (that's $1 per pepper for those of you not good with math) that's only a signal of things to come. I had the chef's sampler of sashimi, sure the fish was good but for $60 I was expecting something a little more generous than 12 TINY pieces! Each roll was cut in 6 tiny pieces too. Now look, I'm not opposed to spending a little dough for something that is out of this world but the sushi was not any better (and in the case of the rolls, not as good) as you'd get at, say, Miku on Lincoln. overall, Pass.

Thought we were booking for omakase. Got there to find out their website/integration with open table is broken and we can't have omakse (just a warning for others!). They did what they could to make us a special menu, bringing (mostly on menu) items, and providing a discount off the meal. They also apologized a lot! The place is cute and the fish is fresh. The pace of the meal was excruciatingly slow and the food runners didn't do the best job of telling us what they were dropping on the table, but everything we recieved was yummy. My favorite dish was an off menu handroll. Hope they add that officially so we will have a chance to try it again!

delicious options, interesting fish choices not found at every sushi place. the staff was very knowledgable and recommended some wonderful things. The rice cake appetizer was a disappointment, it was so gummy you could barely chew it and the fatty tuna roll is really fatty(it does say fatty to be fair). But overall everything we had was fantastic including the cocktails. take your server's recommendations.

Food options are limited and over priced. Waiting for an hour for 3 simple rolls. They also did not have Udon or Uni on the New Year’s Eve. Would never come back again. Highly not recommended.

Ambiance was very cool, we were sat in the back room where it was darker and a little more mellow. Our server was wonderful and they didn’t miss a best with bringing out dishes. We tried a variation of items from the Amish chicken thighs, to soft shell crab, several spicy rolls that were amazing, and enjoyed a nice plum sake and the white lager. Everything was wonderful and flavors were balanced perfectly.

The music was very loud disco so that was honestly the only thing we would change.

I came here with my 10 and 12 year old, who are sushi lovers. It had been a long time since we dined here, yet they remembered us and treated us like royalty. We had a fantastic meal, and loved the new menu items. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Fresh items beautifully presented especially the uni shooters & toro bites. The sashimi portions were small especially the lean tuna. The horse mackerel nigiri was also a small portion. We ordered hot sake & had to ask for it to be re-heated.

The Arami at Midway airport has a more modern atmosphere.

It was overall a nice dining experience. They have a great variety of sake, but it does come with a pricetag. If you want just some basic hot sake that is not really an option. $20 was the least expensive glass (200ml). They have some good unique sushi options with a few traditional type offerings. They forgot to bring one of the small plates we had ordered. I would consider this a special date night place rather than a regular option. For a similar price, I much preferred Kaizen further West on Chicago, but it is really tough to get in there. Arami was easier to get in on short notice.

Overall very good experience. I wasn’t expecting much, but this place showed me what they have to offer. The sushi was very good but the ramen was average. No flavor. The service and staff were all cool and ambience was chill.

the space is woody and worn, with uncomfortable chairs and little or no decor. there is so much noise in the room that conversation is difficult. the overpriced sushi/sashimi selection leant to heavily on salmon and was average in taste and cut. colin, our waiter, was scatterbrained and overworked. we were glad to be out of there in one hour and 230 dollars poorer

We went during the Valentine's Day special where they had a special tasting menu for all the couples that dined there that day. The choices were fantastic and all the courses were absolutely delicious. The chef's choice sashimi, grilled octopus, Arami ramen, and numerous other choices we had were all excellent. We liked everything we ordered, and we were proven wrong whenever we were skeptical. Arami is on the expensive side, so definitely consider it for a special date or occasion. Arami also has a wide selection of great sakes so if that is your thing, definitely give Arami a try.

$55 dollars per person for a valentines dinner was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. The portions were tiny, and I left the restaurant hungry. Completely rip off. Kai Zan does an omakase for $60 dollars that's 10 course, and far more elegant. I won't be returning and am quite upset with how I was treated. I had a 8:30 reservation and wasn't seated until 9:30, simply because the hostess forgot about us. If you ask me Arami got away with robbery on Valentine's Day. Don't make the same mistake. Oh and not to mention they served a dessert that tasted like a sand cake.

Our second time visiting Arami was for Valentine's Day. The first experience at Arami was impressive: creative rolls, unique cocktails, attentive service, friendly staff, etc. I didn't think Arami could get any better but it has! The menu continues to evolve with offerings not seen at other sushi restaurants. We asked for recommendations to help guide us through the dynamic menu and each suggestion was full of flavor. Ask to be seated at one of Collin's tables. He makes Arami extra special and can provide an optimal experience because of his understanding of the menu.

They must. Arami must have exclusive rights to its own ocean. There's no other explanation for why they serve the freshest fish I've ever tasted. The almost-endless selection would seemingly require its own ecosystem from which to harvest. Pair this fact with either the wonderful ambiance, or the supremely informed staff, or the elaborate list of cocktails, and one would make a note of coming back to dine again... but since they've got it all, one might say Arami is to sushi what Hatorri Hanzo was to steel.
