Japanese
The warm and charming ambience Arami provides in its eatery is matched by the contemporary Japanese cuisine it serves. Tasty starter options include the Shibasu, Chilean Sea Bass with pickled fresno, ginger, garlic and house tare, or the Agedashi Tamago Tofu, an egg tofu dish with dashi, radish, ginger and bonito flakes. Arami crafts a few specialty nigiri and sashimi such as the Hotatekai, seared scallop, scallion and house tare, as well vast selection of fresh sashimi and nigiri pieces so you may choose your own combination. Other popular dishes include the Unagi Kani Tobiko with fresh water eel, cucumber, spicy Alaskan crab, rainbow roe and honey aioli.

For a sweet and artful end to your meal, try Arami's yuzu cheesecake or green tea match creme puffs.

We ordered 2 specialty rolls and 1 regular roll. I did not know that the specialty rolls were $18-22 for only 6 pieces. One of the specialty rolls we ordered did not even have fish on top so it was pretty much a regular roll that you could find at a grocery store will some fancy toppings. I went here for Valentine's day dinner and left extremely disappointed.

We dined in for Valentine's Day. The COVID procedures were wonderful - probably the safest dining experience since the start of the pandemic. The staff was very kind and attentive.

The food however.....was not good. The seaweed on the sushi was so chewy it was almost inedible. There wasn't any interesting flavor. And the value was extremely poor...$18 for a sushi roll with 5 pieces with fried shrimp is ridiculous.

I wanted to like Arami but we will not be back.

What is so outstanding about Arami is the service. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable. The service was also quick.
The food was delicious. High quality sushi. I found the prices for alcoholic beverages too high, though. Also I wished there was a bigger selection of sake that can be served warm.

This was an excellent experience. Arami is taking the pandemic precautions very seriously and that was very much appreciated. We always have a lovely experience, but this time was really special because the partitions made the seating feel very intimate. The food was extremely fresh too!

Not a lot of variety on the menu. Basically spicy everything. The sushi is decent tasting but very small portions for the price.

We received amazing service and were taken care of very well. The only downside was the wine we had first chosen was out of stock, but our amazing waiter recommended a Chardonnay from Chile that was really good as well. 9/10

This was the first time we’ve had a bad experience, but it was probably the worst service I’ve had in any restaurant. After 20 minutes of being seated, I had to get up to go ask the hostess if a waiter was going to bring us water or anything. It was 40 minutes from getting there until we were brought a cocktail. I hope it was just one night. Their food was slow, but the quality was still great.

Arami is a quaint and quiet little sushi house in the West end of Chicago that certainly demonstrates the appeal of a quiet & relaxing evening.

The restaurant itself is immaculate and the staff has incorporated a sanitation method to ensure the environment is surely Safe, clean and well kept.

The service was prompt and each attendant was accommodating, courteous and helpful.

The menu has an array of Japanese traditional style delicacies with only some prices being a little on the higher end for the amount served. However, the presentation and prep of each dish is outstanding to which the cost is definitely worth the craftsmanship.

As for drinks, the menu is incredibly stocked with an array of saki and hinted with a unique beer selection that hadn’t been available to me personally at a restaurant since being on mainland Japan. No prior research is necessary as the staff is knowledgeable and well educated on what they have to offer if you come to find yourself seeking out suggestions.

Overall, the environment was great, the Wait staff is friendly , the chefs are well equipped with authentic technique, skills as well as creativity and the decor is calm and welcoming.

I definitely recommend visiting this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

Wow what a treat for us to celebrate our 9th year together here at Arami. It felt like our first date in many many moons and how lucky for us to help this fabulous restaurant reopen for guests indoors. Ty and Troy have created a super safe environment for guests to enjoy their magnificent sushi and sake. Make a reservation and enjoy as soon as you can.

We have been meaning to try Arami for years and we are so glad we finally did. It was an amazing experience! The food was so delicious and service was great! The wine menu was rather limited, but the cocktail list was inventive and delicious (can only speak for the old fashioned, as we didn't quite make it through the whole cocktail list :). It's a great spot for a special occasion or, as in our case, a random weeknight dinner out. We will certainly be back!

I loved the drinks and the maki. I wish there was more options like the traditional rolls or a fire roll.

It is somewhat pricey for the portions they give you. That is my only complaint. Other then that, it is a nice place. Parking isn't that difficult either.

Really high quality cuts of fish. Quality over quantity but it is definitely a pricy dinner for a special occasion. The main issue was our waiter was pretty awkward- just left the first drink we ordered on the table while serving our neighbors and didn’t ask what I wanted, laughed at some joke they made in the middle of us ordering, didn’t really check on how we were doing, didn’t ask if we wanted to order more. It was a busy night but they’re pretty staffed up so not sure what was going on there. Other staff were good though in getting water and cleaning plates. Overall very tasty bites but probably a bit too expensive.

Arami was highly recommended by a good (local) friend. And, had a terrific Omakase video on the website. We were seated at the sushi counter (our request when making the rez), but directly in front of the ‘order Machine’ which buzzed, clicked, and spit out tickets throughout our meal. Ordered an Ominkase dinner only to be told we needed to phone and order in-advance. Huh?! So we asked for a sashimi platter, chef’s choice. It was uninspiring. We had a couple of ‘specialty rolls’. They were marginally better. The decor is spare (loft-like, looks unfinished). The sake list is decent. The service was by and large professional, but not polished or personable. Arami is a whole that adds up to considerably less than it’s less than average parts. Very disappointing.

Overall i thought the food was good. Portions were quite small however and the food was not as good as the high price might suggest. In particular i was unimpressed with the ramen during restaurant week.
