Never. Come. Here. For. Brunch. Probably the worst brunch experience I have had in 25 years in NYC. The place was empty and it took them 30 mins to take our order and another hour for the food to begin to arrive. My order (an omelette) only arrived after everyone else had finished and some food never arrived at all. Woefully understaffed in the kitchen and waitstaff departments and they never advised us of any issues, we just sat there and waited. They adjusted our bill but still paid too much for the worst meal I can remember having. It was so bad it was actually comedic. Kind of astonishing that a hotel like the Plaza Athenee would perpetuate that experience. We’ll never return.
Muy bueno el brunch de Pascuas, aunque caro. Debería haber incluido por lo menos una copa de champagne
Had the Sunday Buffet and all the food was cold, left over eggs, when asked a server to please replaced eggs or if we could order off the buffet he was rude and un un accommodating. Tables around us were dirty and the service was beyond poor!!!
It was my first time there and was not invited to return .
Great Thanksgiving buffers. Fish was not dry though. Service was fantastic.
Food was very nice. We ordered a la carte instead of the buffet. Avocado Toast and an open croissant sandwich were perfect. Service was extremely slow. Waiter forgot us several times during the meal. They forgot the water we ordered and didn’t offer bread even though the jam was sitting on the table. Didn’t offer milk with the tea or coffee. Had to ask several times. Waited for the receipt for 15 minutes.
On top of all that bad service they “charged” us the gratuity automatically. Yes we knew it was added on but that doesn’t make sense if you don’t actually receive any service.
Seems to us that service-included leave little incentive for the waitstaff to meet expectations. Even though we only live a few blocks away we won’t be back.
Nice breakfast menu and food was delicious. Very attentive servers with attention to allergies. Complimentary muffins were very tasty. Dining room needs to be updated but elegant nonetheless.
This was supposed to be a classic NYC Sunday brunch for my parents visiting from out of town. Unfortunately the beautiful dining room that is in the pictures is closed for renovations and the menu was limited - didn't have the selections posted online. It was a very disappointing experience although 5 stars for the impeccable service which was excellent.
This was a terrible restaurant. My food came out burnt and I sent it back. When it came out again it was burnt again. Then we were charged for an item that we did not order. It was difficult to get service as well. It is a beautiful space but the food and service just don't make it worth going.
Invasion of fruit flies was the main problem, no one else in restaurant which is not usually a
Good sign.. restaurant is beautiful and music was jazz and fun
My wife and I love coming here. It was the perfect place for our anniversary dinner. We very much enjoy our visits here and leave regretting we don't come more often. Great service. Extremely friendly waitstaff. Very competent menu.
Arabelle is a great place to have a good dinner and a good service.
The food was outstanding and will be back to try other menu items. Attentive service and the atmosphere was delightful. Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to steer us to the the right menu choices. We had an amazing chocolate delight for dessert and went to the bar to enjoy some great music and company.
Soo disappointing. I had the continental breakfast and I expected from such a hotel to have quality. That was not the case. The pastries weren't fresh and the fruit salad wasn't either. I'd rather go to LPQ (Le Pain Quotiduen) which has excellent pastries, just like in Paris.
Went for Sunday brunch. Not a large selection but OK.
Very cozy and well decorated dining room. Pleasant, peaceful. Fresh flowers etc.
The bread/pastries basket had only one croissant, one muffin and one scone for two people.
The appetizer of smoked salmon was of an excellent quality (server forgot the toasts!) the steak and eggs we ordered were very good. Only negative comment is the cost of the bottle of wines: nothing under $65 for run of the mill wines. Also quality of the coffee served could be improved; I take it black no sugar and you can really taste the good to the so-so coffees. Nicholas, the Manager who attended us was very nice and informative. The servers were very attentive too. Not sure we will be back due to the cost of wines.
Very expensive Christmas Day buffet. Ok at best. Don't go here.
Let me begin by saying how surprised I was to find that my bottle of Pellegrino water that is normally $2 in 7-11 and $7 in a fine dining restaurant was $13. Not to mention that my wife's chamomile tea, one bag and hot water, was $10. This alone made me cringe enough to never return. But let's move past the overcharging, and get to the actual experience. The food, while tasty, was nothing special, in particular. When I saw that this restaurant was ranked a very highly on opentable, I was expecting something unique and special. Especially for the price. When I'm paying top dollar like this, I have expectations that were not met here. If this meal had been served to us at a standard lunch place, for standard lunch prices, I would've been overjoyed and probably would have become a return and repeat customer. But when I'm charged $31 for vegetables (mostly mushrooms) and a handful of gnocchi, I tend to consider it a bit of a rip off. The service was attentive, yet oddly brusque and a bit awkward. When my wife, who is pregnant, opted to only get soup and salad, the waiter loudly derided her with a "That's all?" The manager, who obviously cared and was well-meaning, came off as desperate to please, which is a vibe that doesn't make for a very comforting environment. Speaking of the environment, turn down your lights. This is meant to be an intimate, elegant dinner, not a diner. Finally, if you're going to keep your bread in a warmer, don't forget to fill the moisture compartment. The bread we received was harder than a rock.
The food is wonderful however we were surprised at the unmentioned extra fee of $18 for lettuce and avocado that was added to my $24 crab cakes. My salad was almost more than my husband's steak! We were guests of the hotel and didn't feel like complaining, however it has left a bad taste with us. Will stay there again, I imagine, but most likely dine elsewhere.
Bar area is small and darkly romantic, dining room has a luxurious feel, with pale pink wall panels, wispy gold curtains and a gold-domed ceiling. You are presented with a cozy, comfortable, yet elegant setting. Not for those with modern tastes. The menu was limited yet every item we had was prepared with fresh seasonal fair , great presentation. Each item was a treat to eat. Service was very attentive and above average. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner a truly special experience.
Just went there for a quiet business lunch, the service was the best I have had in the City!!! Love Love Steve...
The staff were professional, courteous, and friendly. Lovely ambiance. My daughters and I went for breakfast on Mother's Day and the food was excellent. Hats off to the chef. We will definitely go back for Sunday brunch. Thank you for a wonderful morning.
Try its lobster. Very good. Better than lots of famous for lobster restaurant.
Elegant old school beauty. Very good food not wonderful service. The brunch bread basket is to die for!!!
Our Easter Brunch was spectacular, thanks to the great staff and service. The food was fabulous. Everything was top quality and the staff continuously refreshed all of the offerings on the appetizer and dessert tables. We will certainly return!
It's the Hotel Plaza Athenee... nothing else need be said... it speaks for itself. I entertained a very wealth African business associate here for lunch & he just loved the atmosphere & the food was more amazing that I remembered.
I just love how wonderful & quint this place is... it's timeless.
Truly lovely. Like being in Paris. Spacious, elegant, and quiet. A real pleasure.
Arabelle is tired in every way. It could use a major re-do, beginning with the wait staff. Those guys hovered over us from the minute we sat down, pushing to take our order, then pouring wine every other minute in large quantities, and then hanging very near to our table chatting with each other, staring at us while we ate. One waiter in particular is more suited for work in a diner. For the price, we could have gone anywhere in the City and gotten superior service, ambience and food.
Outstanding restaurant that we have frequented for many years. Check to see if main dining room is open. If not, there is a warm room off the bar. The preparation is always of top quality.
The food was good; the bill ($100 per person, for a breakfast) was ridiculous !!!
Tha Plaza and the Carlyle offer a superb brunch, a better ambiance and service, a larger choice ... and compared to Arabelle prices they would look cheap.
Sometimes not easy to find a quiet unhurried dining experience in Manhattan but this is the place. Food was excellent. Service was attentive, kind of formal but unpretentious. Decor was classy. If you like to be around energy and people when you dine, don't go here. It's quiet but a nice treat.
I have been here a number of times and will continue to return. The food, service and ambiance are excellent. What makes it best for us is there is almost no one else there-its like going to your own private dining room.
Great resturant and amazing service. Atmosphere was superior. Food was average for set Christmas menu too expensive. We hsd a good evening.
Christmas at Arabelle was exactly what we expected...great menu with delicious dishes, an outstanding wait staff (especially Tony), and beautiful decor. The only criticism we had was that it would have been the right thing to include coffee with dessert on the prix fixe menu.
Beautiful restaurant, reached through an appealing and cozy bar. The dining room is elegant but not stuffy-- though sadly it was not very busy, which it should be for the quality of service, the beauty of the room, and the deliciousness of the food. We shared the garganelli pasta with braised short ribs, which needed a little salt but was otherwise excellent and very satisfying. My companion had the duck with braised endive and leeks, which was delicious, and a side of wonderful black lentils, and I enjoyed the organic chicken.
We would definitely come here again, and hope more people discover this tucked-away gem!
Food prices a little high. Ridiculous high price - $9.50 - for coffee and ice tea each. Elegant quiet spot with great service. Great bar and lobby.
My wife and I had a comfortable evening and were quite pleased with the service and food. The wait staff were friendly and the ambiance is what you would want from small hotel dining, elegant without being over bearing. Have a before dinner drink at the bar to get into the mood.
I was surprised that this restaurant was not busier. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. It is a wonderful place to eat and be able to talk with your companions. I was very impressed. The chocolate cake is a perfect 10!
very good restaurant with excellent service-its a hidden gem-because its in a hotel it doesn't seem to get much business-so at lunch its almost like a private dining room
Be careful, Arabelle at the Hotel Plaza Athene baits you by advertising 1,000 point reservations and then switches it to 100. Also, they didn't want to accept my OpenTable check. I booked a 1,000 point lunch for two at Arabelle at the Hotel Plaza Athene. Even though I clicked the 1,000 point “label”, when I printed out the reservation it showed I’d only get 100 points. So I tried it again to test to see if I’d made a mistake. Once again it went from 1000 to 100 points. We dined at Arabelle at the Hotel Plaza Athene that day. We partially paid our bill with a $100.00 OpenTable check. When we were walking out a waiter came up to us saying they don’t take the check. I firmly disagreed. Had I been with a client not a best friend it would ha...
For such an elegant hotel, the food is unacceptable
Went here for restaurant week menu. Food was very good. Wait staff and kitchen were very accommodating to our daughters food allergies making our overall experience positive and fun. We want to return for high tea!!
