Enjoyed our meal and service was good as well. Was not overly busy that night, so servers spent a lot of time talking to the bartender, but wasn’t difficult to get attention most of the time. Very nice restaurant and food well presented.

It is not possible to live a fulfilled life without access to a dependable, high-quality French restaurant. It doesn’t need to be edgy, or serve the latest Nouvelle or hyphenated cuisine. It just needs to be excellent, a perennial reminder of how good food can be, when everything falls into place. For me that is Aquitaine. Its consistent excellence explains why you need to book early!

A classic of a place with well executed bistro fair, decent service and a pleasant, if slightly cramped space. We return each year and its solid, predictable. pleasure.

Aquitaine was very good, though the quality of individual orders varied somewhat. Without question, the worst aspect of our dining experience was the service. Our waiter was slow, didn't pay attention to special details, and wasn't particularly knowledgeable about the menu. That said, we had a great time and we'll definitely go back.

The food was delicious. My only complaint is that my husband and sat down at 8 pm and we finished at 9:30 pm. On Saturday night, we generally like to have a leisurely dinner as that is our one activity of the night and this felt too fast. I would recommend more time between courses and advise the wait staff to not hover or keep coming back often to check on us. We need some space!

I wasn’t too impressed with their cocktails and it seemed like someone dropped the shaker of salt in soup (and I love salt). Everyone else liked their food, however, my father got severely sick from his fish.

Aquitaine is a little bit of Paris in the Boston suburbs.
Great Bar and competent staff. Cocktails were wonderful.......
I asked for a non alcoholic concoction, and it was wonderful.
Couldnt do enough for us, enjoyed our visit

Nice looking restaurant and great menu. Service however was lacking- slow and the waiter kept saying he was really tired! Food came to our table cool, not fun when you are eating brunch (eggs)!

one waiter at lunch time! food took forever to arrive. Had to ask for bread because meal was taking so long. Lobster bisque was not what I was used to, granted, but not very good either. way too spicy with some haddock thing floating in it versus a nice piece of fresh lobster. entre was well presented, tasted ok but, in the end, was an open faced ham and melted cheese sandwich with béchamel sauce. the rest of the day I kept regretting the wasted calories and thinking what did I just eat. My colleague had the same thing and he felt the same way as I did. coffee and cappuccino served with a saucer, spoon or sugar. The restaurant itself is lovely. will not go back. I know this restaurant has been in its location for a very long time. I don't know how it has managed to stay in business.

Very disappointing. I’ve been to this restaurant at the location many times but my last visit was terrible. We a reservation for a party of 5 people and were seated at a VERY small table. When we asked to be seated at larger table we were ignored.

The food and service were just terrible. Escargot was dry and chewy. Gnocchi was gummy and pasty, schnitzel dinner had a pile of arugula placed on the veal with 2 small cherry tomatoes... no flavor at all.

Extremely slow service, a forgetful waiter, website menu is not updated. The wine was okay.

This used to be a really good place and we've enjoyed it a lot in the past. Sadly, the kitchen is in disarray. Besides screwing up our order and botching the remake, we saw that the tables on either side of us also had problems. The wait service was not attentive, and added their own issues to the kitchen problems.

We went for the Sunday brunch. I had the French toast and my wife had the smoked salmon hollandaise. Everything was great. Our reservations were at 10:30a and it started to get busy around 11a, so get there a little early.

Scrumptious, Perfect, Rave Worthy Dinner
With hundreds of Boston restaurants to choose from, we chose to have a small graduation celebration at Aquitaine. It was definitely the right choice! From the moment we entered, the phenomenal experience began. The staff wrote a lovely congratulatory letter to the graduate. The server was extremely warm and personable. The intimate, Parisian bistro atmosphere, attentive, warm and professional service, and delicious, expertly prepared dishes, are all excellent.
The chef prepares everything with expert culinary skills. The appetizers, (escargot, soup (lobster bisque or onion), salad and mussels) are all exceptionally executed and truly delicious. The mussels and escargot rival those from the best restaurants in Paris. The entrees (filet mignon, tuna Wellington and our personal favorite, the sole) were perfectly prepared and incredibly delicious. (Ask the chef to omit the smoked leeks from the fish which only detract from the delicate sole).
The desserts were also yummy. The decadent bread pudding (our favorite), profiteroles and mousse were all very tasty.
Every meal at Aquitaine is underscored by delicious food and impeccable service. ...........excellence we have come to expect at this incredible restaurant. With stupendous service and food in a charming atmosphere, Aquitaine remains the best dining experience in Boston.

45 minute wait for entree. No one checked if everything was satisfactory after entree delivery. Filet of sole was dry and without sauce but no one to help the situation. Been to Aquitaine several times, first disappointment.

I haven't dined at this restaurant for years, but decided to try it after other restaurants in the area were filled. It is still lovely and the staff was friendly and efficient, but the food (except for the salad) was mediocre at best. We had a variety of dishes, from steak to fish, and none were worth a return.

I have been eating at Aquitaine for probably 15 years. Having lived in Belgium for 2.5 years, I believe I'm a good judge of authentic French food. Aquitaine serves classic French dishes in a classic French bistro/restaurant setting. My last meal on 5-22-18 did not disappoint. The asparagus with arugula and fried eggs was a great way to start. The main course of sole meuniere did not disappoint, and I finished everything off with a delicious tarte tartin. They renovated the entire dining space and bar in August of 2016, I believe. The renovation was excellent. The restaurant is a classy French place but not pretentious.

Went there for my daughter's college graduation. Wanted a place that wasn't too loud and offered tasty offerings with a casually elegant ambiance. Big hit on all fronts. The mussels and crusty bread was all that was needed however my son ordered the cheese plate. Delicious. We then settled down for the entrees. Just the right quantity. Great spot and will return.
