Dined here for a Sunday dinner, half the menu was unavailable, and even the items that where key modifications had to be made. The waiter/ staff were heavily overwhelmed, we had to request multiple basic items, such as bread/ plates. The waiter took a while to take our entree order, eventually only to return and tell us the items we ordered and not available anymore.
The meal which was pretty mediocre, I don't believe they had enough food/ staff in the kitchen.
Our dessert was sent to the wrong table as well.
Highly recommend to not dine here until the restaurant/ management reorganizes itself, limited food options and overwhelmed staff isn't what you'd expect from here.
Spectacular dishes - nice variety if you don’t want a heavy French dish.
They have blocked off the entire side street on the left side of the restaurant. I felt safe.
It was so nice, we are returning this week!!
Great atmosphere and set up. Unfortunately our server was just not paying any attention and didn’t inform us of the specials that night. Which we only found out later by overhearing another table and were left without drinks for our entire meal. It could have just been an inattentive server but I will say the portions were on the smaller side.
Overall it was a lovely evening, but there were a few things that kept it from being a 5-star experience. A few of our menu items weren't great (others were), I got a bad glass of wine (which was replaced with a glass from a fresh bottle), and service was a little lacking. Overall though the ambiance was nice, and we were happy to have a night out without kids!
The far better option for French cuisine in our neighborhood. Their now COVID Compliant outdoor dining space Is comfortable and tables are spaced appropriately. The food is classic and delicious. Cocktails perfect. A bit more costly than Frenchie but as the saying goes “you get what you pay for”. This is one cafe we want to survive the pandemic!! 👍
Loved sitting outside! Such a beautiful place to eat on a warm summer night.
Excellent meal outdoors and hand sanitizer on each table, well done!
Burguer, and appetizers were delicious, the croque madame a little disappointing
We had a great dining outside Sunday brunch. The food and drink were excellent. Service was very efficient. It felt very safe during the pandemic. The tables were well spaced apart, the servers wore masks, and hand sanitizer was available.
The Manger - Samantha? - was accommodating ant engaged in our dining experience - brunch 7/26/2020 👍🏾
Outdoor experience was fine. Drinks brought promptly. Unfortunately, gnocchi was very overcooked and mushy. Additionally, we were informed steak au poivre was unavailable after we placed the order. Burger substitution was good. We have been to Aquataine Dedham numerous times and have been very happy with food and service. We also understand these are not normal times so will try again sometime.
Fantastic place to recover from the Covid-19 blues in a safe, outdoor, pampered setting with great food and drink!
Great food! Always consistant. Thecstaff is fantastic.
We had a beautiful Sunday brunch at this neighborhood restaurant. The service was great taking great care to make you feel safe during covid. We typically enjoy brunch cocktails, but this day we chose simply coffee which was amazingly good. Our meals were cooked perfectly and just as we ordered. This is a lovely restaurant; however, we were not comfortable dining inside so enjoyed the extended street patio (thus less than 5 star on ambiance as inside would have brought). We are anxious to return to enjoy dinner.
Very solid across the board. I ordered the french onion soup and it was salty, but delicious; I especially liked the pureed caramelized onions! Additionally, I ordered the burger and it was prepared to perfection and also quite enjoyable.
Overall, really good experience and the restaurant has done a nice job building the outdoor patio space and spreading customers out during the pandemic.
A long time favorite, that we'd not been to for a while. They are handling the pandemic well, had all the appropriate precautions.
Food was excellent as always, and the service was great.
Only observation was that it was warm in the restaurant, but that would seem to be the result of the weather (very hot in Boston) coupled with the need to ventilate the building as a COVID precaution.
But a great place to dine.
after 30 minutes of waiting, there was no service
music was loud and disturbing, we asked to lower the volume, nothing was done
The gnocchi and chicken were amazing - would highly recommend both!
We had an amazing meal. Great service. Highly recommend
Our waiter and the manager were great! The kitchen sucks bad attitude!! We could hear them from our table.
Food was SoSo bad!!!
We love the one in Dedham but will NEVER go back here again!!
So disappointing-celebrating a birthday. We had been to the restaurant many times and each time had a wonderful experience. We had a reservation and the only tables available outside were the very small bistro tables. We took a booth inside. The waiter took our drink order pretty fast but after that we hardly saw him. There were only 2 waiters for the dining room and both outside dining venues. The waiter doubled as the bartender also.
There was no air conditioning and everyone was wiping away the sweat-including the waiter. We order a salad since they were out of mussels. It took a very long time to be delivered. We asked for bread but it only came after we asked several more times. Our entree orders were NEVER taken.
Finally we asked to be moved outside for some air and were told by a very curt/nasty/totally unprofessional manager on duty that she could not accommodate us. At that point we asked for the check and left. Never an apology. This female manager was so inconsistent with our previous experiences.
Sorry to say our days of dining at Aquitaine, and referring customers, are over. I would never go back.
We were looking forward to having our first meal out since the lockdown. When we got there for our reservation, we weren’t informed that we would be sitting inside and not outside To make matters worst, it was scorching hot inside. It was so hot that my sin and I lost our appetite. Quite disappointing.
Disappointed there was no AC in the restaurant.
First time eating at Aquitaine and the food and drinks are amazing. Highly recommend the mussels and the steak frites. We booked an outdoor table and opted to eat indoors when it was going to be a 20-30 min wait. Dining indoors was just as great (maybe better with the AC on a hot night). Service was quick, but we didn’t feel rushed at all. Can’t wait to come back and try other menu offerings!
We've been a number of times and went for our anniversary as we do every year. Main jarring first impression was the Maitre de. I was wearing a mast as I approached her (she was texting) and said to her we had a reservation for 2. Her response was "Huh!" Perhaps a small thing but this does not create a good first impression for the front of house operation. The food was good as always. I tried the lobster which the waitress was clear she hadn't tried and so couldn't recommend. An unimaginative dish cooked with average skill. Lobsters a hard dish not to overcook and loose most of the flavor. The wines were excellent, the salad and desert were also good. We will go again but I do hope they choose to put someone with more social grace on the front desk.
We came in for brunch and ordered the croque madame, pomme frittes, french toast and strawberry sangrias. Everything was amazing
Coq au vin was so “liquidy”, everyone turned to mush. Was perfect two weeks ago.
I love this restaurant. I came by for brunch on a Saturday afternoon to dine on the outdoor patio. Everything was great - polite and helpful waiter, delicious food, perfectly curated cocktail, and a relaxing atmosphere. I felt so at peace! I recommend the fries with truffle aioli along with any meal. I devoured the croque madame - SO good. The watermelon smash cocktail was the right mix of sweet and refreshing.
So good. I went for brunch with a girlfriend. It was Quick and easy to get a reservation. It’s really cute inside, but they offer patio seating as well. Will go back again
Wonderful brunch on the patio, a lovely setting and a wonderful meal
Great adherence to safety while also providing enjoyable dining. Thanks all!
Although it was a limited menu the restaurant hit all the high notes. I had the goat cheese salad and my son had the salmon tartar, both were excellent. My son got the duck and I got the coc au vin and we raved about both. Dessert was strawberry creme brule which was creamy and delicious. Our waiter was happy to recommend wine pairings and was extremely attentive. We will return.
We had dinner on the new expanded patio. We made a reservation and were seated pretty quickly. Table and chairs were cleaned before we sat down and hand sanitizer was provided on the table which was appreciated. Service was great! Our server was attentive but patient. The endive salad was super refreshing. The rosé hit the spot for a nice summer evening out. It was great to dine outdoors and see people going about their evening - a welcome change to staying at home these days.
Incredible service, food, and cocktails!
Thank you. They had a great time.
The food was amazing, & more than anything, the customer service left my guests absolutely glowing (not to mention eager to come back)!
I am so grateful to your team for what was a truly special evening, & appreciate just how much they went above and beyond.
We’ll be back soon :)
Nautical yet distinct, the Spanish Octopus potato dish carried a homespun flavor that reminded me of a boiled crawfish stew we would serve in the South. It takes me back to simpler times where I should like to return these days. In the meantime, I'll be coming back to explore the rest of the menu.
Consistently good food. Have done a great job with outdoor dining. Well done
