As the colder weather comes I would suggest that you get more patio heaters. We sat out front for dinner by the street and it was pretty chilly. The heater was a little too far away to give us enough heat.
Good place. Too busy for brunch. Service needs to improve.
They overcharged me and my guest. The server messed up the order and forgot things we ordered and we waited 35 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. All around disappointed as I love Aquataine.
Our waiter tried his best but we waited forever for our food and it arrived cold and was unmemorable, if not boring.
FYI- Cold fried eggs, omelettes, and toast are not worth waiting for.
Aquitaine is fire. Great food, drinks and great service. Have been many times and it is a consistent, high quality meal. keep up the great work!
Phenomenal pricing food and ambiance
Excellent Ambiance, cozy and cute...
Filet cooked perfect, delicious ...
French onion soup,hot n cheeseY
Delicious! If you get the mussels make sure you order more bread to soak up the delicious sauce. The filet au poivre was absolutely delicious. It’s not a meal I typically get at Aquitaine but I’m glad I did. I loved every bite.
Lovely servers, great ambience and especially delicious food.
We had brunch outside and it was terrific. Service was great and the food was as good as always. The fare was a little different than before, with more eclectic dishes. I love the french dishes, but the others were good too. We loved being able to eat outside because we felt safe. I just hope they are able to have heaters so we can go there into the colder weather.
Aquataine has done a great job making the outside space feel like an extension of their core restaurant. Heaters took the chill off. Our waiter was attentive and fun. The food, as usual, was spot on delicious, and stayed hot on a cool night. I'm already plotting my return!
Had mistakenly made the reservation online for the following day but they were great -
able to seat us (after a 20+ minute walk to get there). Very accommodating &, as usual, the food was great.
A great meal and service. A wonderful experience
We were excited to go for one of our Saturday favorites: the prefixed brunch. The menu is still available online and nowhere does it say they aren’t offering it. However, they are not. We ordered from the regular menu offerings and the food was okay, not great. Duck and Eggs comes with just one egg, and the Bacon and Gruyere Omelette left us wanting more than what we could have made at home for much cheaper. Happy to support my local joints, and the outdoor set up is great, but the food is not as good as it used to be.
The chicken with mushrooms is amazing. Fantastic wine list.
Aquitaine has responded remarkably well to the environment and has gone from a pre-pandemic 3-4 star, slightly overpriced venue , relative to its South End neighbors, to a regular 5 star review for me. On this occasion we had a different server and the service was slow and far less personable than usual. Also they didn't have the entrée I wanted, so this visit earned 4 stars only. I would still highly recommend it for as long as the weather supports outdoor dining.
The duck breast was superb.
Perfectly cooked, just the way we had asked.
The wine, recommended by our waitress, was excellent.
The only (minor) defect: a bit too much vinegar in the vinaigrette (at least to my taste).
But the overall meal was great!
Great service, great food. Solid spot for brunch, would definitely return.
Love the outdoor dinning, Amazing service very attentive, Delicious food and drinks. Definitely, will go back.
Service was impeccable as always. Enjoyed the Escargot and Pate Apps. Steak Frites was very good but the Beef Short Ribs Special was AMAZING!! Hope they add this to their regular menu!! Can’t wait to go back... 😊
Great outdoor dining experience. We had steak frites and it was delicious! Great service and a fun place
We had an outstanding experience at Aquitaine. The food was superb and the staff was extremely professional. The ambience is absolutely beautiful.
Given the circumstances of Ovid, this as the nicest dining experience Ive had in six months. It was safe, the staff was lovely and the food was excellent, as always.
This was our first dinner out during the pandemic. We ate outside at a table for two. Our waitress, once realizing we could speak French, spoke French through the entire meal which added to the ambiance. We had the tartare, the goat cheese salad, the sirloin, the sole and both desserts. Everything was delicious including the bottle of bordeaux. The only interruption were the helicopters that were monitoring the protests. But that is a typical noise in Boston. It was wonderful to eat out again and we felt very safe
our wait-person (Satu) was fantastic . . . she made the experience special -
Consistently great food and service. Never disappoints!
The service was wonderful and the food and drinks amazing!! We are planning our trip back already
Nice outdoor dining experience. Propane heaters kept us warm.
Excellent waitstaff. Hand sanitizer on the table, a plus.
The heirloom tomato appetizer was marvelous ... but the muscles and steak entree with watery potatoes were just so-so. The ambiance was delightful both inside and out ... they have clearly spent a great deal of effort successfully making their outdoor dinning as pleasant and attractive as possible ... and the service was excellent! However, unfortunately, the mediocre food and rather high price will keep me from returning given all the other great options in the neighborhood.
Food is always excellent and authentically French. The Covid outdoor seating is pleasant and manageable. The overall experience was very pleasant.
Good sunny spot for brunch. Good and cocktails were great, but service was very slow and not great.
Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Particularly enjoyed the duck confit and hash.
We had a reservation for three people (outdoor table) at 8:30pm on a Friday. We arrived at the restaurant early (around 8:23pm) and were told our table would be ready in about 15 minutes. We were completely fine with waiting outside, except the 15 minutes became an hour wait. The host was not clear on how she would inform us the table would be ready, so after about 20 minutes of waiting, we went back inside and asked a different host if we would be called. The second host confirmed our cellphone number and said they would call us. By 9:15pm we started looking at other dining options around the area. A host came outside right as I was saying "let's leave" and told us they were cleaning our table. We sat at around 9:30pm. We understood the original waiting time because of the COVID19 cleaning process and how busy the restaurant was, but waiting 1 hour on the sidewalk after making a reservation almost a week in advance through Open Table? Frankly ridiculous. The food was mediocre. It is fine to eat, but certainly not worth the wait and not worth the $300 for three people (e.g. the corn salad looked and tasted like canned vegetables.)
The waitress was kind and as attentive as possible considering how busy they were. There were several mishaps like the bread came after the appetizers and some drinks came after we got our meal. It was also pretty cold outside (high 50s to low 60s) and they did not have the heat lamps turned on in the patio area.
We had high expectations for Aquitaine considering the decent reviews, the $$$ and the fact that they describe themselves as "Boston's premier French Bistro." We have gone to other French restaurants in Boston that are much higher quality. We find it funny that there is an assumption that because something is classified as "French" it is fancy and/or high quality. This was my brother's birthday dinner; a night to remember for all the wrong reasons. We found ways to laugh about it, but won't be coming back. #AQUInovolvemos.
Favio was terrific!
Absolutely lovely. Amazing food and delightful service.
Beautiful patio. Delicious food. Tables were spaced out nicely.
We came here for my sister’s birthday on a Monday evening. The actua restaurant is very cool. I think because it was a holiday weekend, they were short on staff so it took a while for the waitress to get to us. They were also out of a lot of wines and a few dishes. But I blame that on the holiday weekend. The food was very good however, I would definitely like to go back to see if that was just a one time experience.
Best meal in months.
We arrived on time for our reservation. We noticed that so many tables were filled but no one had been served. This suggested the kitchen was slow or understaffed. And it was. Very. The waiter was super nice but we sat one full hour without any food. We ordered salads only and bread. They only had toast no nicer bread but the toast was fine. One salad was a salad Nicoise the other just salad. It was literally tuna from a can on the salad. So 1 hour and ten minutes to get some salad with tuna from a can. We didn’t even order any hot food. Maybe the worst lunch we ever had in Boston. Definitely avoid. So many nicer places in the south end alone !
Aquitaine does offer delivery in partnership with Caviar.
