Aquitaine is our go to pre Calderwood Theater spot. The food is consistently quite good. Our servers have always been friendly & attentive. Marissa took great care of us last night. The beet salad was delicious with a lovely sauce. Steak frites and sole are always good choices. Last night’s crepe brûlée was perfect.
Nice selection on the menu. We enjoyed the sole meuniere; fish was very fresh. I was disappointed in the lobster bisque-just not my favorite variation of making it, I guess.
Not sure. Small portion . Meat was overcooked and dry. Very salty . One person had a steak dinner which was good
Great location for theater goer. Atmosphere is quiet and chic. Host and server were attentive and were able to answer our questions about wine and food choices with ease.
Great lunch date! Service was prompt but not very personable. Food and drinks were delicious.
Top quality French cuisine for very reasonable prices. The brunch is awesome, and if you don't mind having brunch early on Sunday or anytime on Saturday, it's $12 - incredible value.
The service was good, but the tables are pushed together pretty tightly and the food is not worth the price.
Quieter musical selections would enhance Sunday brunch conversation...
Though we are frequent diners at Aquitaine, yesterday was my birthday and brunch could not have been better. When you walk into a restaurant and the staff starts wishing you a “happy birthday,” you feel like you’re walking into the home of good friends, not a restaurant. James always takes care of us masterfully, and Keith made it a point to come out and say hello and happy birthday. In short, I was only too happy to celebrate there.
I really enjoyed the European, neighborhood, ambience but not everyone lives in this neighborhood. The restaurant advertises valet parking but never mentioned it was two blocks away and cost $25.00.
Wonderful food wonderful experience inside the house we use the gift card which was very nice to have excepted it and my only comment is although our waitress was exceptionally knowledgeable of the wines she rather quickly ran over the wines by the glass and for the common person it sounds a little bit snobby I know it wasn’t meant to be but it came across that way so I would suggest only if people want to know about them to recite what they are other than that perfect day and evening thank you
Food was awesome. Better than lots of other high end restaurants.
Great service and food. Thanks
We’ll be back.
We always have a great meal at Aquitaine. Whether it’s the salmon, the steak frites, or something off the specials it’s always good. The servers, many of whom have been there for years are friendly and outstanding. I love the simple bistro decor as well.
We love the Aquitaine...it was our 5th NYE in a row we had dinner there. Considering the evening service is always great, never rushed, and the food is excellent. The wine list is great and the little puff treats to start along with the French bread are lovely. We split a salad and in NYE...they split it!! The NYE specials are great but the full menu is still available...we will be back next year...!!hx!!
Staff looked miserable.
Top notch. Everything was fantastic, from the recommendations that the very knowledgeable waiter provided to the little extra courses to the expertly prepared food, we loved every bit of it. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone and look forward to a reason to come back. Compliments to the entire staff!
This had been one of my favorite brunch and dinner places when I go into Boston. I made an on,one reservation and requested a booth and the hostess gave us an excellent table. I was disappointed in our server, James. He has served us in the past, but he was not very friendly or accommodating. We will still go back but will Makkah sure James is not our server.
Service was great and overall experience was positive. The server was attentive and made several suggestions that were very helpful. Wine selection was very good and the cheese tart to start off the meal may have been the highlight of the night! Slightly over done scallops were a bit disappointing, but by now I should know better to ask for them rare everytime I order them. Bottom line is the dinner was enjoyable and I would return.
The ambience is very good. The food is overestimated, with flavours that range from usual to very good. It certainly is not a cheap restaurant( it has $$ on this site). It's definitely at a $$$ or higher range.
Absolutely fantastic! Food and service were outstanding.
Great french option in Back Bay. Besides plat du jur, they is the offer of special weekly menus.
Always fabulous service and delicious food. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Service, food, and ambiance makes it a special place but still feels like a neighborhood restaurant. Thank you!
It was an off night for a usually very good restaurant.
I recently organized a brunch with my group of friends on a Sunday. Overall, I was quite impressed.
The food was 5 stars! I had ordered the french toast and couldn't have been better. Perfect brunch dish for a cold December morning.
The staff - between the host, wait and bussing - were great. All pleasant and attentive.
The one area I would critique is the level of the background music - a bit too loud to be able to carry on conversations. The choice of music (80s) - was most welcomed!
We ordered the Prix Fixe menu available on Sunday from 9 to 11. It included coffee, a (small) cinnamon but, and an omelet or French toast with fruit and syrup. Very satisfying food, good service and a quiet, relaxing place to spend two hours Sunday morning. Aquitaine has been around for many years and it always pleases.
Consistently excellent food. One of my favorite places for both brunch and dinner.
Great meal. Slow service. Nice restaurant.
Excellent food & “feel.” Has always been a fave even when biz travel prevents me from going there much more frequently.
Wait person was very good - friendly, efficient & helpful.
I didn’t like our reception and table assignment & thought the Hostess’ explanation was absolutely not credible. I did get annoyed & put up a fuss which she did not like. She did finally offer a much better table & we were quite happy. However, it was obvious that she complained about us to other staff. Not good.
Birthday dinner. Fun, delicious and relaxed. We had a wonderful time
Excellent all around - service (waiter was so professional and attentive), food was excellent and steak frites $27, ambiance/lighting is warm and lovely
Great spot for brunch
Weekend prefix great deal
Aquitane is a consistently good choice if you want interesting cocktails and/or a variety of wine choices, very solid/ excellent food, and the ability to talk. We had a delightful evening, with cheerful and helpful service. The chicken and butternut squash main meals are really great. Salmon, less interesting, but also very good. We go to Aquitane quite often because it's hassle free and reliable, unpretentious, and just incredibly comfortable.
Service was exquisite and the food divine. I’ve been coming to Aquitaine since the day it opened. It is my favorite restaurant in Boston. This evening’s meal ensure Aquitaine remains my favorite.
Juliana is my favorites waitperson. He attention to detail is phenomenal, makes one feel special.
Hadn't been to Aquitaine is some time for either dinner or brunch. Brunch was delicious, and our waiter was excellent.
Atmosphere is exceptional. Great for a group or an intimate dinner or drink. Service was on point from the bar to the table. Very good french bistro-style food to round out the place. Highly recommended.
Can’t say enough nice things about the lovely dinner we had at Aquitaine. I loved the menu options, the food, the atmosphere and exquisite service. Looking forward to returning!
