Always great. My favorite French Onion anywhere. I try to eat here every time I visit Boston. James was great. Thank you!
Hadn’t been in awhile. Always a great meal.
It was my 3rd time at Aquitaine, it had never disappointed me until my last dinner. I had to wait an hour past my reservation time, the host did not acknowledge us... he gave other people who had later reservations a free drink but did not offer us anything even though we have been standing for an hour. Our waiter was outstanding, but our food was different. It doesn't have the same "WOW" as before. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great either.
Waited one hour for our table. Service at the bar and the table were excellent. Food was excellent. Be prepared to wait.
Upscale atmosphere, amazing food, not outrages prices. Definitely coming back
Reservation was for 6P so we could make theater at 8P. Not seated until 6:45 which gave us an hour to eat. Ordered escargots and brought out without bread. Had to send the waiter twice for that. Then we wolfed down our dinner and my friend asked for coffee and the check. Coffee came no sugar or milk. Asked for that plus the check. Didn't come. Waiter brought a check to the other table no milk which would not have been brain surgery to remember. Finally got cream and check. There was no apology nor was anything comped.
Evidently I heard from a regular that they always run late. I was a regular there for 10 years. So food can be good but the service was beyond awful
Prix fix brunch a great value & delicious! Service attentive & friendly.
Aquitaine gets high marks in all categories....just what you want it to be...and it is!!
Overall good but nothing outstanding
But we had a reservation at 6h30 and we were there at 6h25 and 3 separate couples showed up at 6h30 and they gave then tables before us. Next time deal with this better
Awesome, everything we ate was delicious. Would definitely go there again.
Aquitaine is becoming one of my favorite restaurants. We've had consistently excellent service in all our visits - never stuffy, but always thoughtful, attentive, and correct. The food is also special. It's not as adventuresome as some trendy restaurants, but it's always high quality, innovative, and delicious. It's kind of a special occasion restaurant, due to the price point.
Everything was awesome!!! The food was delicious, de salmon egg Benedicts were amazing and very good service.
Great and will become regulars.
It was great everything. All of the food was absolutely amazing
We really enjoy Aquitaine in general. I like the space and the food is pretty consistent. Some of their dishes even qualify for exceptional. This trip (Sunday brunch) was very flat. The duck confit chopped salad was delicious but not a chopped salad at all. Could be why they had it in “quotes”. The duck hash, however, and avocado toast were weak; Edible but barely good. The avocado was kind of like a whipped purée, just one piece of bread that I wasn’t even sure was toasted and produce not great. The hash was basically a giant potato pancake with a few specks of duck in it. I still recommend Aquitaine and will return. Going to chalk this up to a bad day in the kitchen.
We were in town for a convention, flying out early afternoon on a Sunday. Was looking for a unique and great breakfast/brunch option - a friend recommended Aquitaine and we got there at 10 for brunch. We love sitting at the bar and eating and Aquitaine has great seating options - but we chose the bar and had a great bartender serve us. Recommended the can't miss Duck Hash - beautiful and sooo goood. My wife got the Dutch Oven Pancake and loved it - perfect ambiance, great coffee and bloody marys. And if you sit a the bar you have a perfect view of the inside of the restaurant and the outside people watching. We were extremely satisfied with everything - easy, calm, delicious, authentic.
Was a little limited given they were out of a few options but waitor was very kind to provide substitutes or otherwise accommodate.
Aaron is one of the best maitre d's I have experienced. He was attentive and sympathetic to our need to get to the theater. He was the highlight of the evening.
Check seemed high. Almost worry if mistake was made. We had four entrees, one dessert, 3 beers, 1 glass of wine and one half carafe and total was 240 with tax. I did nothing t review check but was struck by it on way home. Entrees were gnocchi, sole, chicken and scallops
The service was impeccable. The food, prepared excellently. When they didn't have an appetizer that we had originally ordered, they apologized and let us try the order with a replaced item first to make sure we liked it. Of course we liked it.
The music was at the perfect volume and the ambiance was perfect for our pre-theatre date.
Get the french onion soup and the steak poivre, it was the MOST delicious.
As usual, this meal and service was exemplary. It is always a treat and always worth the money.
Brunch was OK, nothing super duper spectacular. Still a nice spot to catch up with family and friends.
Service was amazing. Deven, our server was outstanding.
One of my favorite places. Good food, wonderful service, great setting, reasonable prices.
We have long said that Aquitaine is the best restaurant in Boston, and that remains true. The food is delicious, expertly prepared and beautifully served by the most professional, accommodating, attentive and knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is cozy, warm and lovely. This level of excellence is CONSISTENT, as every trip to Boston includes a visit to Aquitaine, and every visit is a joy. The escargot, sole, mussels and filet are exceptional standouts in a myriad of scrumptious offerings. The fare rivals that served in the best restaurants in Paris and NYC. Our only "complaint" is that there is not an Aquitaine in NYC so that we could visit more often.
This restaurant is wonderful. All the entrees are of the best quality, and delicious. My favorites are the sole and the veal schnitzel. My wife loves the steak frites.
The desert profiteroles are a wonderful dessert.
Aquitaine is our go to restaurant.
We arrived early for a 7pm reservation and the restaurant was quite crowded. This was most likely due to early and late performances in nearby theaters. We checked in and were told they would do their best, but most likely we would not be able to be seated before 7. The truthfulness was appreciated. Our seating in a side room off the entry was wonderful! It was more quiet there and quite roomy. Our server was very efficient and read us well and did not rush our service. The food was delicious and we felt there were sufficient choices both for beverages and food. All in all, it was a great evening and we will return. On leaving, we advised the host of how much we enjoyed where we were seated and he immediately made note of this in their computerized system - a great idea!
The food and service were awesome! I just wish the tables for 2 were not so close together :(
Small and intimate. But too close to neighboring tables. Food and service was top notch!
We LOVE this place!! We moved from Manhattan 1.5 years ago and miss the restaurants there but Aquitaine has become our favorite in Boston. The service is impeccable and the food is excellent. Probably the only knock on the food is that the last time we ate there, we thought the dessert needed more ice cream :-). Having eaten there already a couple times for work and personal reasons, we have always had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!!
I always have an outstanding experience at this restaurant
Great service by John - delicious food all around -
On a snowy Boston weekend morning, we found this place on-line. It enjoyed positive reviews for good reason. My son and I arrived when it opened. The room room as friendly and warm, good for conversation. The service is smart and prompt. The food was savory, French and piping hot offering several authentic options for every appetite, include croque madame (sp?) and omelettes. Enjoy.
We had a wonderful experience with our waitress who was a delight (Foo Russo) and the reception/wine guy (did not catch his name). The food was quite good, not super. The experience was also wonderful because we were able to sit in a quiet side room--terrific because my husband is partially deaf. For once in a restaurant we did not have to shout to each other. And the rest of the restaurant was lively, convivial, more noise--but no problem for us. Made for very good ambiance for all.
Service was kind and attentive. Food was especially good and appreciated the vegetarian options available. Wine and cocktail selection was particularly good.
Ambiance is great and food was good, but the amount of duck inside the "duck" sandwich was ...as can be seen from the picture, minimal at best. I couldn't really taste the ingredient. We had escargot and apple tartin. Escargot was good and tartin was little too sweet yet sour for my liking. Pleasant service. I will try again for dinner
Good choice for a friends brunch. Good food. Reasonably priced—for brunch, convivial atmosphere. Good service. Banquette seating a little tight. Par for the course in Boston I guess.
Love this restaurant but would not recommend bringing children as they seemed annoyed by the fact that kids were at the brunch despite being well behaved
