   Our brunch at Aquitaine was more than a great meal, it was a wonderful dining experience! This is a neighborhood gem not to be missed. The chef owner Andrew poured us a lovely rosé from Provence. He recommended the "French Frittata" which was out of this world yummy. The "Eggs Basquaise" was a superb blend of herbed polenta, eggs, and piperade sauce. The whole experience from the moment we arrived was delightful. Jazz music and beautiful surroundings added to the ambiance. We felt as if we were transported to France. Definitely worth trying. We will be back again and again....

   We were pleasantly surprised. It’s a very casual atmosphere, but the food and service were very good. The portions were large. We shared a cauliflower appetizer, tasty and large. Then a salad with burrata, again large and tasty. We had the mussels and duck Ruben, both very good

   Favourite SF restaurant. Weather it’s casual dining , business, group celebration or romantic this is the place to eat with a perfect ambience for the occasion Food is 10/10 , it’s flavourful, high quality and served hot to your table. Menu accommodates all palates. Wonderful wine selection.. Professional and attentive service. ❤️

   I just love the cauliflower “beignets” and get them every time — never disappointed. 😋 The chicken wings espelette were a little bland, but everything else was delicious: the roasted beet salad; the rosemary polenta; and the chicken basquaise were all perfect and generously portioned. Wines were also very nice. Too bad I couldn’t talk the others into splitting dessert though… Our server was also especially nice on Saturday evening.

   Sweet space. Nice and attentive staff. Great wine selection. The ambiance was just ok. Last night the music was disco and for me that takes away from the ambiance. For a little French wine bar I think a different music selection would elevate the experience.

    The food was delicious, service impeccable, and just a really nice vibe that made you feel like you were in a Parisian cafe. Would come back many many times and making this place a regular stop.

    Appetizers were good. The steak-frites entrée was ok, however the meat portion was small and plated sliced. Overall food is ok but the price is too high. Therefore value is low.

    This is such a fabulous piece. Great for a meal or just small plates and some wine. Wine selection is very good and the food is great and not cookie cutter bistro fare. Duck confit salad is a consistent favorite of mine.

    Altho' Aquitane's bistro fare is fairly standard -- shouldn't a bistro be bistro-like?!? -- , it is distinctly southwestern French, imaginative & evenly well-prepared. While I reserve 4 & 5 stars for the planet's rare exceptionally spectacular culinary experiences, Aquitane really deserves 3-1/2 stars: it's fun, definitely likable, really good satisfying food, and has a very fun, sympatico staff. You won't regret repeat visits to Aquitane!

    Outstanding French bistro cuisine, great service, reasonable prices and the bill doesn't insult the customer experience, as so many SF joints do, with ridiculous add-on charges. I would call it an outstanding neighborhood joint, but we make special visits from the suburbs just to eat here. One of our favorite places to dine in the entire Bay Area.

    This restaurant is a very charming, quirky furnished one on Church at Market. My guest and came early because we were attending an event at 6:30 pm. I requested the check at 6:15. First, the service is first rate. The wine was poured with an unintrusive description. The first courses, Fromage and Chart Craterie (sp?) And Escargo were exceptional. The main course came soon after we finished that course. The Duck Confit was fine but the dressing on the salad was off, probably needing acidity. The Mussels were fine, but I expected large ones with substantial meat, their's were tiny with half bites in them. Probably chose this version to keep menu price down. They should have served the big ones and charged us the price needed to make a profit. We had two desserts, a fruit crisp and a good chocolate thing. The check arrived right at 6:15. The service was so outstanding and the first course, so delicious that I had to give this dining experience 5 stars, despite some disefficiencies with the second course.

    Was on the search for a light lunch spot near the Castro and found Aquitaine had reservations. HANDS DOWN best find on OpenTable! Food and service was amazing, can’t wait to go back. Most definitely, one of my favorite restaurants now.

    Charming venue providing fresh, imaginative & very tasty food, very well prepared. As any good restaurant should, Aquitane serves your courses at a nicely moderate pace: plenty of time to chat and enjoy your wine from the good list whilst awaiting the next personably-served plates from the chef. We look forward to many returns to the southwest of France so nicely recreated right here in San Francisco's Castro 'hood :--)

    An absolute gem. Outstanding even by lofty SF standards. Southern Country French perfectly executed. You'd think you were in a farmhouse outside of Bordeaux being doted on by your grand-mère. We ate early (pre-theatre) and it was quiet and peaceful. I bet it gets lively later. I almost hate to reveal this place but they deserve the business.

    The ambiance here is quiet - so rare for a SF restaurant. Quirky, boho layout. Excellent service. Decent wine list. Small but carefully curated menu. I like not having a million choices. I will return with new people to introduce them to this charming restaurant.

    Cant rave enough about this place. Chill vibe- had dinner lounging in an easy chair and couch. The food was well above any expectations and the wine list is the real deal. The flatbread with smoked bacon and creamy onions and leeks was delectable

    Our server was the gentleman who also made the wine list - absolutely made the experience one I hope to have again and again. All of his recommendations were better than anything I could have selected and I’ll definitely come back and hope I am treated to his choices again!

    What a gem of a place!! Was going to a show in the neighborhood and picked this place on a friend’s recommendation. It did not disappoint! Food was excellent, & the manager was very knowledgeable and helped us select a budget friendly wine which was fabulous. Highly recommend for dinner with friends or a date night meal.

    I always visit when I am in town and I did again last night and as usual I left feeling extremely content with life! Excellent food (I loved the Duck Magret) and wine selection in a very relaxed space displaying some artifacts from their previous location. Thank you again Leo for your attentive service over the past 11 years (also Andrew who has been there for the same time).
