The food and wine at this cafe are fantastic. We had the Sunday night chicken special, and it was the best chicken I've ever had, and quite a deal for two people. The happy hour foods are great too, and the wine selection is excellent.
This was a delightful 'find'; we will be back! The menu features an array of traditional French favorites from poultry, beef, fish, foul and vegetarian options mostly from the south west of France. The robust flavors were enhanced by the quality ingredients. Our server (who happened to also be the owner) provided rich descriptive detail to aid in the selection process. It was all delicious and it all arrived at the same time. The ambiance is warm and welcoming with bright colors echoing those of the region of Aquitaine. The wine list offers a generous variety of choices from the region that partners well with the menu offerings.
Since moving to Church St. in 2020, Aquitaine has become one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants. Great food, friendly service, a really good wine selection... for me, it's the trifecta of a good restaurant.
Delicious, well made food, their roast chicken Sunday special and a fine lemon tart. Really good wine list, and Andrew was very friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home. We look forward to coming back again soon!
Great food. Great wine -but expensive. Great service from Leo. Will definitely be back.
This place continues to be amazing. The whole roasted chicken is the best I have ever had...better than my grandmother's! Superb wine list with some beautiful surprises. The owner Andrew will hold.your hand choosing the perfect wine for you. I highly recommend this place.
Really cute place
Great place for an afternoon coffee and finger foods. Loved the huge open windows and kind service. I
This place is one of the best in the Castor area. Church and Market, easy and comfortable. The food is over the top. Everything on the menu seems to be just great! You have to go here
Great service. Great ambience. It actually felt like I was in a bistro in France. The food was good quality, and the place was so welcoming.
Menu was authentic French and the food was delicious! The wine even better. We even got served by the owner of the restaurant. Service was great and friendly staff :)
Last night was the second time we went to Aquitaine. Great food. Great service and nice wine list. Cozy place that decorated nicely. Andrew and Leo were very friendly. We will definitely go back. 😍
Great ambiance and food! The place feels like an authentic bistro in the south of France,
Aquitaine was a fantastic recommendation from Opentable. We were having drinks at a tiki bar around the corner and I looked on Opentable for recommendations and Acquitaine came up. Any place that has a Duck Confit Rueben on the menu is worth a try!
We got there around 8:30, and they had a table waiting, the decor is fun and the atmosphere casual. My wife and I found a bottle of wine to enjoy and the staff was very friendly; I did not ask but based on the conversation I believe we were talking to one of the owners.
We both ordered salads; the portions of which were nice and not huge. I can't rave enough about that Duck Confit Rueben. As it suggests: if you like a good pastrami Rueben and scratch made duck confit; you're going to love it. They also had a duck confit entree which my wife thought was one of the best she has had (even compared to some that we had in France two years ago). In discussion with staff we mentioned our trip was celebrating our anniversary and they brought out a creme brulee and a digestif of sorts for us to enjoy before we left.
All in all, I can't recommend enough if you're looking for great quality French cuisine in a casual, fun atmosphere. We will definitely come back when we make our way back through the Bay Area.
Always great service. Delicious salads followed by steak with fries. Delicious dinner!
Amazing service, amazing food, amazing wine
Nice to see a more creative brunch menu to set a place apart. Fun European wine bar vibe with even more thoughtful brunch Mimosas - none of the overly juiced and pulpy drinks from other places. Service was leisurely, but friendly and attentive. Dish highlights- baked basque eggs with polenta were flavorful, the duck and waffles was a little pricey, but a delicious combo of flavors.
This place is a GEM! Andrew and his crew make delicious food, have an amazing wine selection and create a warm and welcoming experience every time! Great for dates or just getting together with good friends!
Andrew and his team are completely amazing. The food is exquisite, and the wine pairings are to die for.
Wild party scene with EXTREMELY LOUD music. NOT for dining! We left!!!! What happened to the nice place?!?!?!?!
I've made reservations at this place because I was looking for quite/romatic place. This is NOT the place. Keep looking... probably some days of the week might be quieter, but on a Friday night, this place is extremely noisy and crowded. Expensive and only a few dinner options.
Excellent wine selection and classic French food. It is small so make a reservation.
My husband and I stopped for lunch while delivering gifts to our favorite downtown salespeople. We shared a huge duck salad and a grilled duck sandwich. The attentive staff served us in a dining room reminiscent of an authentic bistro in Paris with bottles of wine on the shelf. Unfortunately, the restaurant will be closing in two weeks and relocating at Church and Market.
Aquitiane is a an amazing experience: like we flew to France but no jet lag! The service is impeccable and the food so fun but let's do thumbs up to the French wines and Champagnes! Amazing Amazing
It is a charming gem and has the feel of your neighborhood restaurant with great food and service.
Love this place. Perfect for drinks, bites, or dinner. Service, as always, is excellent. Andrew and Leo are great!
Great Happy Hour options. Enjoyed the wine very much. Excellent service!
Three of us dined here for lunch, and we specifically requested a quiet table. They put us right next to a table of probably 10 people celebrating a birthday, and they were very loud, to the point it interfered with our ability to hear each other. This is why I'm giving only two stars for ambience. The second problem was the food - one of us thought his dish was very good, mine was decent but nothing special, and the third person thought her lunch was actually bad. So they really need to step it up a notch in both the kitchen and the front of the house. I would not return here.
Nice place for a casual dinner. The food is very greasy though. Not anything sophisticated, just large size homemade dishes.
I really like this place. Come here every few weeks and it feels like home.
The staff was lovely and a fun group! The good was incredible, all the suggestions they made were perfect! I had just gotten back from France and this brought me back!
The food was outstanding even though the menu was a little off putting at first. The lunch choices were rather strange, with a heavy emphasis on duck in several dishes. Our waiter recommended the special of the day, grilled shrimp over mashed potatoes, which was amazing. Overall I really liked this cute little French spot but the menu needs some standard items and the wooden chairs were uncomfortable.
This place is round the corner from my work, and I LOVE it. It’s chilled. The staff are friendly, as is the owner. They remember our favourite wine.
Excellent restaurant- just a bit noisy.
Bonne ambiance et nourriture de qualité!
Amazing, highly recommend
Amazing and knowledgeable service!!!
Had a wonderful experience at the restaurant with an old friend. Service was fantastic as was the food, will definitely come back!
The food and service was excellent and all at great prices. A great place to actually have dinner conversations without shouting. The service was unhurried and the staff very warm and friendly. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their delicious food.
A hidden gem in the city! Fantastically attentive staff, delicious food, and lovely ambiance.
