Aquitaine Dedham at Legacy Place Ratings and Reviews
Food was tasty, service was excellent and the ambiance was great. We went to celebrate a wedding anniversary and the hostess, Aoflee, was superb. Checked in on us several times to see if we had any allergies they should be aware of and to see how we were enjoying our meal. She even brought over a complementary shrimp bruschetta appetizer for the table for the anniversary celebration. Our server, Cornelia, was delightful and very knowledgeable about the menu. Any questions we had she followed up about diligently with the chef and made any adjustments necessary to meet dietary restrictions. She was also very warm and friendly. The staff as a whole seemed to work very smoothly and pleasantly together. We finished just about every last morsel of our food. The cod dish and the miso salmon were especially delicious. Highly recommended, especially if you have a special occasion. Aquitaine will take good care of you!
I’ve been going here for years. However, on this night. The waitress informed us that they were “out of a lot of the items on the menu” 2 out of the 3 entrees were not available. 1 appetizer and one dessert also not available. Not sure why they would open for business if they did not have enough food.
As usual the food was very good. We started with Caesar Salad, Calamari, Pear Stilton tart. All were excellent. The Tart was outstanding. The Calamari was excellent, though for the price the portion could certainly be larger. It's quite a bit larger at Legal seafood around the corner(though not quite as good). For our mains I had the Sole, which was excellent. Again the portion for the price could be a little larger. Richard had the Coco vin, which was excellent & a good sized portion. Desserts were The Pain Perdu & Apple Tart tatin. Both were excellent. The Pain Perdu is one of my favorites. Our waiter, Alex was fine. We saw Renee', who's outstanding. the last time we were there, the restrooms were out of order & you were understaffed. Renee' really kept that place together. She's a true asset & I hope you guys take care of her accordingly!
Restaurant opens at 11:30am, got seated as soon as we arrive at 11:45am (our reservation time).
Ordered appetizers (escargot and mussels) and was told that they were out of escargot - disappointing! Ended up getting just the mussels, which were delicious and come out right away.
Ordered 3 sandwiches and an omelette. It took a while for our food to come out and didn’t know why. When the food finally came out, the bread on duck sandwich was very greasy, burger was okay and the omelette was nothing special. Though, I did like the avocado toast.
Ordered hot chocolate cake, apple tart and creme brûlée and was told that they ran out of the creme brûlée -another disappointment!
We left Aquitaine unsatisfied and decided to go to check out Cafe Nero for hot cider, hot chocolate and espresso!
Our waiter was very professional and we appreciated that, because our table was never set properly. We had to take items from a neighboring table, like bread plates for example.
The only real complaint was the grilled octopus for $14.95 which was consisted mostly of fingerling potatoes rather than octopus. This is an exorbitant price for potatoes... I would never order this appetizer again.
Aquataine never disappoints. My husband and I went for an early dinner on New Years Eve.
We had a 6 o'clock rez, arrived at 5:30 and asked if it was ok to eat at the bar instead of our table. "of course, whatever you like" was the response. Off to a great start. We ordered the specials--Lobster risotto and beef tenderloin. Both were perfect, so delicious. bartender Alex was very personable and attentive. We will be back soon.
One of the best restaurants at Legacy Place - hands down, Aquitaine does a stellar job at delivering on the French bistro ambiance - along with classy touches like real tablecloths & napkins - great outdoor seating in the summer - and an impressive bar. We had scallops and pork - both beautifully prepared. Service is always top-notch - with team willing to go the extra mile with extra TLC, as they surprised us with this visit for my wife's birthday. Vraiment tres bien - merci!
Our overall experience is always very good at Aquitaine. Our server was very gracious and knowledgeable.
We had a variety of dishes from trout to lamb and they were all delicious. The beans served with the lamb were not as warm as I would have liked, but did not compromise the dish. The gremolata was a good addition to the dish. Everyone else had very positive feedback about their meals
We were at Aquitaine to celebrate the 20th wedding anniversary of one of our daughters. The welcome was gracious, accompanied by an amuse bouche. Every part of the meal, from drinks to start through dessert was well timed. The cost was well within that expected in a very nice restaurant. We will definitely return.
I'm sad to report that the restaurant was not crowded yet we had to wait 40 minutes for food - and the first course was forgotten. The server was quite friendly - but that wasn't enough. Food was ok, not fantastic. Given that Aquitaine has a lot of competition for my dollar in that area they need to step it up or step aside. It used to be our favorite place - but the last three visits over the year have been poor - they can do better.
We had a reservation for 3 after a movie at Legacy Place. Excellent mussels, which we shared. We had the salmon, trout almandine and lamb shanks. All were delicious. Excellent server as well. My first time dining here, although I have had many delicious brunches at the Boston location.
My family was here for Christmas Eve and the service was off (even though the restaurant was half empty) and the food was underwhelming. Anyone who has been to a decent french restaurant would turn their nose up at this. The beef bourguignon was prepared like short ribs (one big slab of meat instead of smaller pieces like stew), the coq au vin was dry (where was the vin?) and my mother had to send back her rabbit because it was just inedible (the server took it off the bill). Still, I would never go back unless it was for a quick brunch.
I am a regular at this Aquitaine, and have been going there almost weekly if not more for over 6 years. The brunch was overall good, except for the pancakes in the bananas foster. Only comment is to cook them more. On both occasions that I ordered this for Sunday brunch, they were undercooked. Why didn't I send them back?--Because, it was busy, and service was slow.
Of course, I'll be back.
We have been to the various Aquitaine locations many times over the years and have always been pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. In our most recent and perhaps last venture with Aquitaine, lunch service was beyond deplorable. Twenty minutes elapsed after our party was seated before wait staff greeted us. Cocktails took 15 minutes to arrive. Appetizers - which were soup - took over an hour to arrive. Our entrees arrived within 5 minutes of the soup. The food itself appeared as if it had been hastily prepared despite the excessive wait. All our inquiries were met with a response that the food “was on its way.” Management ultimately offered to comp dessert.
The food and service were both excellent. The appetizers came out very fast which was fine for me but it may have not suited others looking for a more relaxed experience. I ordered a glass of red wine which was delivered at "room temperature" and was way too warm for my liking. I prefer my red wine around 60 degrees. As a result, I ordered a rose wine for the second glass because I knew it would be chilled. I would have preferred another red wine but did not want such a warm beverage. For such a nice restaurant, I would recommend they work on their beverage service.
The service was excellent. Our server Rachel is the best and we enjoyed our interaction with her. She easily and good-naturedly took care of me and my wife, the couple with 2 little kids near us who dropped crayons and stuff and wandered around, and a group of 6 spoiled teens who came in.
The food was good -- but we felt the portions were skimpy considering the not-so-skimpy prices. My average size piece of cod on a bed of mashed potatoes and a few string beans is pricey at $27.00. And the plain salad was $8 more.
We got this as a gift certificate, but the $100 barely covered 2 meals and one drink. Will only return if someone else is treating or if we get another gift certificate.
Aquitaine is a good, reliable restaurant where you won't generally get anything but a good, solid meal. I had the Cod with what appeared and tasted like a lentil/minced winter vegetable base and it was quite delicious. Was it $27 delicious? Not really. So it's a bit over-priced. But it was still a good place for family celebrations.
This was my first visit to this restaurant, which is an ideal lunch spot at Legacy Place in Dedham. I definitely will go again. I had the croque monsier sandwich, which was very tasty, though a tad over-grilled. My friend had the soup (minestrone) and sandwich (chicken salad) combo, which she liked. The young man who served us was friendly and efficient.
