Great time. Great food and drinks. Service was friendly.
NOT SURE IF THEY WERE SHORT STAFFED WAITRESS WAS PLEASANT BUT WE WAITED A LOT FOR HER FOR DRINKS AND CHECK SERVICE ATTENTIVENESS WAS SLOW. WAY TOO CLOSE TO NEXT TABLE COULD HEAR THEIR WHOLE CONVERSATION.
Food was very salty, even the tuna tartar. Just seems to have lost a bit in the kitchen as the food quality could have been better. Also odd that the printed weekly special was sold out for a 7:15 reservation. Would not rush back...
I wish I could remember our waitresses name because we’ve had her serve us twice now and she is just lovely! I’ll make sure to catch it next time we’re there and give her a shout out
The sfish was so dried out it curled up and the potatoes were so dredged in butter there was yellow all o we the plate. My sister in law ordered the raviolis which were cold and hard . Very disappointing experience. I was embarrassed that o reccomended this spot.
SOLE WAS DELICIOUS BUT HALF A NORMAL SIZED SERVING
Waitress was WONDERFUL!
Best opportunity for a delicious meal !
Beet salad was oddly hot and had very heavy dressing. Fish main course was past due - heavy smell of ammonia. Not the first bad meal. Won’t go back to this location.
We had a great dinner at Aquitaine. The service and the food was excellent. Thank you
Solid experience. Tables close but not like downtown Boston. Noise was average but could hear each other easily. Server was excellent, attentive but not trying to push us through our meal at all.
Love having Aquitaine so close by. Love the ambiance & service & sitting at the bar.
I do have favorite dishes but on this occasion, I wasn't expecting for them to have winter menu items still being offered. It's April, we're ready for a menu change.
My husband is vegetarian and he would have appreciated a few options. He had a salad and soup for dinner. The only other thing he could have gotten was Mushroom Raviolis which he does not like mushrooms
Really a great time for Easter Brunch. Service, our server was Rene, was impeccable Rene was attentive, gave us some great suggestions, and never hurried us. The whole staff was pleasant
We went for Easter Brunch. Disappointed this year! Food was so-so.. the service was fantastic!
I’ve been to this restaurant several times and have always had great experiences . But yesterday my family went to Easter Brunch for the first time. The food was great but our service was not. Our server acted like she didn’t want to be there. She didn’t even say her name. It felt like we were bothering her. I will have to think twice about frequenting this restaurant location again.
The bolognese could’ve come from a can. Very flat and uninspired. Definitely not worth $24. The burger was quite good. Fries were a 2/5, pretty greasy and limp. Service was lacking. We will probably not be back.
We went there for our anniversary dinner and totally satisfied food and service! The host and waiter's greeting and service were excellent with a special seating and champagne service. All foods were delicious and wonderful. It is a very comfortable and romantic atmosphere. We definitely will be back again.
Had a wonderful meal with an exceptional server, Renee!
We booked a table for 6 for a group get together. It turned out to be "Restaurant Week" (or the equivalent) so 5 of us ordered off of the pre fixe menu. However, we waited very long for our food and the entrees were very disappointing quantity wise, and my lamb stew was cold. Several in our party said they would need to eat more when they got home. The desserts were also sloppily put together. We felt misled by the menu descriptions and would not recommend ordering off the "Restaurant Week" menu ever again.
Generally a solid choice for good food and ambiance. The place was extra loud for an early Saturday night, not sure if it was due to Restaurant Week menu being available. She-crab soup was very good, though not sure was worth $10 for a cup. The roasted duck breast was very disappointing - it was grissly and unseasoned, and the fruit topping was skimpy in its portion and didn't help in providing taste to the meal. The Beef Bourguignon was good and flavorful, as were the profiteroles for dessert.
Cynthia was in a waitress and as usual she was absolutely awesome! The food was great but Cynthia makes the whole meal.
Our waitress (I believe it was Cynthia) was fabulous. We were 3 friends getting together to celebrate the visit of one from the West Coast. Cynthia never rushed us, gave us a tasting of the GREAT fig brandy and was just extremely accommodating. Food was delish. We'll be back!
Excellent French Bistro food with a great selection.
It was an excellent experience !!
Lindsay our waitress , who was amazing, made sure that everyone was extremely satisfied especially that Many of us had been on restricted diet due to health issues. She made sure everyone was happy. The ambiance, the hostess, the preparation of the food was all good! Also the prices to value are really good . It can be bit noisy but not to the extent that we are nnot hearing one another .
We highly recommended!
It is our 2nd time at the restaurant.
The 1st time the noise level was unbearable, but the food was delicious.
This time the food was terrible.
Are we looking forward to go to this place soon?- I doubt it.
It's not the cheap place and the restaurant suppose to stand up to higher standards.
The most disappointing meal. Took two US friends here and encouraged them to order the Beef Bourguignon for their main. Revolting piece of brisket in a watery gravy. Nothing like the real dish, was told this is Dedham MA not France people won't eat French food! Nothing like the menu had described it either. Basically the worst restaurant I have been too in a long time with poor food at expensive prices!
Great place for suburban and city friends to meet!
Always a great meal here! Renee' was excellent as always. A real asset to the place. When it's busy she just moves around like a ball in a pin ball machine. We started with the Calamari & Onion soup. Calamari was fine. The soup could have used a bit more veal bone stock. That's what really gives that soup flavor. Next up was the Stilton pear tartlet. Really nice with a god Stilton flavor. Stilton is a British Bleu cheese for those not familiar with it. Next up was the Lemon Sole & creamy mash potato. Both were excellent. Topped it off with Truffle fries. Really recommend them. Richard had the Sword fish. It was very good. For dessert I had the Pain per du. Kind of an adult French toast as Renee" would say. I always get it. Richard had the Apple Tart tattin. It was not as good as last time. It's frequently inconsistent in quality. He's a Pastry Chef, so he's rather spoiled!
Really Enjoyed Aquitaine in Dedham. Decided to try the restaurant group again after an "Extremely Bad" Gaslight experience. Service, food and atmosphere were great. Will be returning to Aquitaine in Dedham over Gaslight in the south end.
We have eaten at Aquitaine for many years starting with the Chestnut Hill location and have always had a good experience. That being said, we feel that it is a little “lack luster” at this point. There is nothing really bad, but nothing really good either. The food has become just “Ok” and they seemed to have dumbed down the wine list. We used to be able to get Sancerre or a white Bordeaux by the glass, but neither are available. The duck press was good, but not outstanding and my mussels had good flavor, but the the sauce had broken and was curdled; French fries were not crispy like they used to be. We had a good time because we were with friends and because it is a pleasant and convenient place to gather, but I would not reach out to it for a special meal the way we have in the past.
Nice little spot for a couple to brunch.
Food and service were excellent. Missed seeing veal on menu.
A very disappointing and mediocre experience. I had an item from their Bruch menu. I asked for the eggs to be "over easy", not sure they know what "easy means"! If you can't cook an egg correctly, what chance you can do anything else? Place is fairly nice, service was fine but the kitchen is simply incompetent!
Food was not as good as in the past and the service was less attentive. Inside the restaurant, it was very dark and while the windows in the front of the restaurant brought in light, there was a lot of glare.
Great ambience, excellent food and service. We love this restaurant.
The thing that I like most about Aquitaine is that the decor and ambiance feels like a restaurant that would be found in Paris. I really like the booths since they provide a more intimate setting for conversation. It's a great central location for meeting friends, so that helps to direct us there. The food is always good and the menu offers interesting choices.
Three of us met for brunch and 2 of the 3 meals weren't correct (server error) the first time and had to rerouted back to the kitchen. The meal that was delivered accurately sat in front of my friend while we waited and waited and waited for the mistakes to be corrected. It was my friend's choice to wait (while her meal got cold) since our plan was to EAT TOGETHER. No notice was taken that maybe her dish should have been heated up or replaced while she waited. Finally the other 2 meals were delivered and they were terrific. The food runners never smile and seem mildly detached from their work. Coffee at Aquitaine is wonderful!
A quick scan of past reviews points to 2 consistent problems that we also experienced at this restaurant: Marginal service and poor management (was their even a manager on the floor, who knows?!). I do recall having excellent service there ONCE! Since Aquitaine is a chain, it's hard to understand why these consistent issues don't get corrected. I blame the consistently marginal service and absence of interest by management on poor corporate policy.
I would recommend the restaurant but don't have high expectations about the service.
Have been going to this Aquitaine for over 6 years. The food is consistent and the service is the usually the best. I think I have gone through at least 8+ managers. Some have been great. But, the newest manager was at the cash register when I entered....no greeting, and looked upset. Not good. I think better training is in order in this case. Otherwise, among my favorites.
