Normally one of my favorite places. On Monday the dine out week advertised as 3 courses for $20 was only 2. The 3 choices of entrees was reduced to 2. No bread or spoons were offered with the little necks in a Provençal sauce. We asked for bread and waited as our clams were getting cold, then had to remind waitress about bread. Then Eggplant dish was served under cooked with cold potatoes. We had to send it back, something I rarely do. We it came back it was properly cooked, but why wasn’t it checked initially. The free profiteroles were nice, but the experience was disappointing.
If you picture a busy Bistro in Paris this is the vibe at Acquitaine. The people at table next to ours were conversing in French which delightfully added to the atmosphere.
Good food coupled with excellent service!! Well done.
Wonderful meal. Would recommend
The service was attentive; but not overbearing. We loved the Bourride Provencale for its sauce, and correctly cooked array of seafood: cod, mussels, shrimp. The steamed clams, bacon, corn combination as an app was delicate and delicious.
My go to restaurant whenever I’m in Boston. Food and service outstanding. Noise level too high.
Came here for Boston's Restaurant Week and the $33 prix fixe 3 course menu.
The starter I had was clams with a delicious sauce and bacon - the sauce was a great consistency and it overall tasted fantastic.
My main course, a lamb pappardelle, was rather bland and nothing to write home about.
The dessert was also a great finish; a peach tarte tatin with an amazing sauce that was flowy in consistency but had that caramel-y burnt sugar taste to it. Also had a little scoop of something resembling ice cream. Very strong flavours and absolutely delicious.
I had the bourbon mule which didn't particularly live up to expectations - there was a bit too much ice and the ginger beer or whatever ginger they used didn't have much of a kick. So it ended up tasting fairly watery. However my dinner companion had a vodka/Aperol/elderflower/grapefruit/sparking wine cocktail that was amazing and looked quite nice too.
Overall would recommend! Just avoid the pappardelle and the bourbon mule!
This place has wonderful service: welcoming and friendly and also classy. The food was excellent. Loved it!
We really enjoyed our evening at Aquitaine. We left wanting to make a reservation to try our 2nd choices.
Food and drinks were delicious, a little pricey but we had a very good brunch.
Food and service were all A++++ - It was a particularly hot and humid evening and the AC was not working too well though. (but I don't think anyone's AC was working well that night :-)
Really great place for brunch, we all had delicious food and the service was excellent. The ambience is very schique, we had a toddler with us who was treated amazingly by staff. Only downside is that parking can be a bit of a hustle.
I will definitely be back!
From the moment you enter Aquitaine be prepared to be wowed!
The server, Julianna, was very professional, accommodating and helpful and offered some great menu and cocktail suggestions. The intimate, lovely, Parisian bistro atmosphere, impeccable service, and delicious, expertly prepared dishes, are all excellent.
The chef prepares everything with great care and expertise. The appetizers, (onion soup, salad and mussels) are well executed and truly delicious. The mussels and onion soup rival those from the best restaurants in Paris. The entrees (filet mignon and our personal favorite, the sole) were very well prepared and delicious. The potatoes accompanying the entrees were delicious as were the a la carte green beans. The citrus, grapefruity, hand crafted martini was a great blend of flavors, and the new cocktail
menu was inventive and appealing.
While we were very satisfied after our delicious appetizers and entrees, we still had to share the yummy and decadent bread pudding.
Every meal at Aquitaine is underscored by delicious food and impeccable service. ...........excellence we have come to expect at this incredible restaurant. With terrific service and food in a charming, lovely atmosphere, Aquitaine remains the best dining experience in Boston.
A Perfect meal: seared scallops, Endive salad, wine pairing and Bread pudding.
Excellent food and service...ambiance was amazing
We were seated at 7:30pm but didn't receive our entrees until 9pm with no explanation. The kitchen was also out of multiple dishes. Not the experience we expected!
Great food for the most part. Kir was not good. The syrup was bad grenadine not cassis.
The choux pastry for the profiteroles was awful. Tough and tasteless. Probably frozen pastry.
The rest of the meal very good.
Incredible!! Amazong food (best onion soup I have tried) and great ambiance. Will definetly be back!
Enjoyed our meal and service was good as well. Was not overly busy that night, so servers spent a lot of time talking to the bartender, but wasn’t difficult to get attention most of the time. Very nice restaurant and food well presented.
The refurbished Aquitaine was elegant and friendly. Food is, as usual, outstanding at a very good price!
Lovely spot to meet friends!
Prompt, courteous, excellent value, and good food selection. Thanks
Small. It was nice to be there without a crowd! Don’t know how we would have liked it crowed as it must be at times because the food is so good!
Our party of 5 celebrated our friend’s birthday here and we all loved the service and food!
It is not possible to live a fulfilled life without access to a dependable, high-quality French restaurant. It doesn’t need to be edgy, or serve the latest Nouvelle or hyphenated cuisine. It just needs to be excellent, a perennial reminder of how good food can be, when everything falls into place. For me that is Aquitaine. Its consistent excellence explains why you need to book early!
A classic of a place with well executed bistro fair, decent service and a pleasant, if slightly cramped space. We return each year and its solid, predictable. pleasure.
Aquitaine was very good, though the quality of individual orders varied somewhat. Without question, the worst aspect of our dining experience was the service. Our waiter was slow, didn't pay attention to special details, and wasn't particularly knowledgeable about the menu. That said, we had a great time and we'll definitely go back.
Wonderful. That’s all. Just wonderful.
The food was delicious. My only complaint is that my husband and sat down at 8 pm and we finished at 9:30 pm. On Saturday night, we generally like to have a leisurely dinner as that is our one activity of the night and this felt too fast. I would recommend more time between courses and advise the wait staff to not hover or keep coming back often to check on us. We need some space!
Met a friend for lunch. Service and food outstanding.
We had a wonderful experience here! Thank you!
I wasn’t too impressed with their cocktails and it seemed like someone dropped the shaker of salt in soup (and I love salt). Everyone else liked their food, however, my father got severely sick from his fish.
Aquitaine is a little bit of Paris in the Boston suburbs.
Great Bar and competent staff. Cocktails were wonderful.......
I asked for a non alcoholic concoction, and it was wonderful.
Couldnt do enough for us, enjoyed our visit
Nice looking restaurant and great menu. Service however was lacking- slow and the waiter kept saying he was really tired! Food came to our table cool, not fun when you are eating brunch (eggs)!
Always excellent service & food!
Every detail was perfect from food to service as it always is
Need more vegetarian options — mushroom pasta is made with pork, no straightforward salad, nothing very kid-friendly (teen, not toddler).
Excellent food and service. I would return the next time I'm in Boston.
Wait staff professional and relaxed.
Excellent food and portions. We had the fire grilled sausage board which was super tasty and the wine selection was amazing!
Awesome all over.
Aquitaine never disappoints. I am always happy when I leave.
