Hostess and our server, Rafael are excellent! We had a great brunch. A supporter of Jeffrey Gates restaurants especially when he is always supportive of SE community, and always giving back!
I haven't been there in a year and i must say the food used to be much better and more interesting.
Wonderful, wonderful food as always. I could wish for the French music back, rather than the energetic contemporary semi-rock that raises the noise level and makes it more difficult to have a conversation. But I imagine we might be in the minority on that aspect of restaurant preference, and ya gotta make a buck. Oh well.. sadly, the era of classic and contemporary French music at L'Aquitane seems to have passed.
Walked in and was immediately greeted by multiple staff members. We had a 6:45 reservation and were seated in a cozy spot near the back in less than five minutes. Upon being seated our waiter, Jon brought us water and reviewed the specials. He was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended multiple appetizers and entrees. Food was very good and met all expectations. The fries and filet were delicious as well as the bread pudding dessert.
Terrific bistro ambience! The French Onion soup is not to be missed!
Amazing food. Amazing environment. Amazing service
Worth going to try their brioche french toast.
Their prix fixe brunch menu (which ends at 11 AM) is a great deal!!
First visit since remodeling a year or two ago. Food still top notch, service excellent. New decor is nice but... seats have been trimmed a la airlines. Barely enough shoulder room and the table bases are such that you can't get your feet in without some ballet moves.
It has gotten a good deal noisier too. I don't recall music being played before which in itself was not a problem but it adds.
Also note - valet parking is now a shared service accessible the block BEFORE the restaurant. The "valet" signs near the Cyclorama are the ones you want.
Great experience - amazing service!
Beautiful space and wonderful service. I so wish that the food lived up to the decor and ambiance. Sadly, the brunch food was extremely disappointing. The French toast was deep-fried and soggy with grease. It had only about 5 lonely strawberry pieces. The Alsatian omelette with 'foraged' mushrooms had a few mushroom pieces, no thyme whatsoever, and a piece of congealed melted cheese on top.
The food is consistently delicious!! The menu has something for everyone and they always offer specials. Save room for their decadent desserts!!
Menu was updated since our last visit. Options all looked tasty and our meals were delicious.
don’t bother making a reservation here. Hostess was very very rude and barely acknowledged us. Sat at bar for 20 minutes and finally just decided to eat at the bar.
This was recommended by several people and it did not disappoint. Our waitress, who grew up very close to the restaurant, was very knowledgeable helpful. She was patient as she described the specials and their signature dishes. We did not feel rushed at all, and we had a leisurely and enjoyable experience.
Was with a former colleague from
France who said it reminded her of Paris. Unsolicited.
Great atmosphere and smiling staff. Loved the gnocchi.
We had an amazing meal at Aquitaine. Great wait staff, great menu, excellent cocktail and wine list, all in all fantastic experience. Will definitely be back!
Fabulous is all I need to say! It was a recommendation from a friend and it surpassed her description!
We Moved to Boston 4 months ago ad. We love eating out 4-5 days a week. I love and appreciate restaurants that provide ambiancep, service most of all great food! This Place hits all three and is one of my favorites - it also reminds me of the quaint restaurants we frequented when we lived in Paris. It never disappoints!
Great meal. Loved every bite. And excellent service
I was a little disappointed they did not recognize my daughters birthday- I informed OT when making the reservation
It is one if the best restaurants in Boston!!!!I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years and it is just as good now as it was the first time I went. !!
John the waiter is the best waiter in Boston. Makes you feel special- a page right out of Danny Meyers.
Unfortunately, my wife’s eggs benedict suffered from very tough mushrooms in the dish. Otherwise, our brunch was delightful. Server offered to lower volume of the music.
This is a beautiful restaurant located in the South End. The staff and service is top notch. The food was not as great as I had hoped for based on the description on the menu. Would not dine here again.
I’ve been to Aquitaine many times for brunch, and this was not as good as past outings. The food wasn’t hot - it wasn’t cold enough to send it back, but it wasn’t what I’m used to getting from the kitchen at Aquitaine. Everything was fine, but not great.
I love this restaurant. The food is great. More recently though they seem to have increased the volume of the music they play in their dining rooms, and it became almost impossible to have a conversation during dinner.
A very nice French bistro with easy access to the theater. Consistently good food and service. I have been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed.
Took my boyfriend and our children (7 of us) out to dinner for his birthday on a Friday night. Two members of our party were late as they were flying in from out of town. Not a problem at all, we were seated on time and enjoyed one of the most memorable meals ever! The food was outstanding and they have a fantastic wine list. Try the Salus Cabernet! Our waiter Dennison was fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list! Loved this night! Can’t wait to go back!
Reliably delicious food! They draw out the essence of the food plus it's a beautiful place for dinner.
Aquitaine is good - at its best, very good. As at many places, starters seem to outdistance main courses - the former can have real flair, the latter are fine but not memorable.
Nice cocktails, a good wine list with a pleasingly high number of choices by the glass.
All in all, worth the visit.
Aquitaine is always wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable and polite. They don't crowd or rush you, but are also available if you need them. We asked for bread after the meal was served and they accommodated our request very quickly. I've been here many times and am always happy with my meal and the service.
Thanks! Amazing! Will come back again - delicious French onion soup.
I often entertain guests from out of town, and love that Aquitaine is consistent with both their quality and their service. I can always count on them for an exceptional experience. I hope they never change.
We have been to Aquitaine many times and have always considered it one of the better/best restaurants in town.
Sunday Aquitaine was off its game. My drink order needed to be redone twice. The rabbit tagliatelle was disappointing with the pasta sticking together and the dish lacking flavor.
It was the 92nd birthday for my mom, and thankfully she was happy with the experience. That said, my partner and I know that Aquitaine can be much better. In fact my partner noted that Aquitaine was "off its game."
We ordered both appetizers and dinner. The quantities were minuscule! We came home and had to eat another dinner due to how hungry we still were!
Servive outstanding; food excellent; extremely noisy.
Food was very good, however, my omelette had what amounted to two small mushrooms, one shitake mushroom, one piece of cheese over the top of a huge omelette. The menu advertised the "special" cheese and the mushrooms. Though it was made well and was generally pleasing to the palette, I think the chef forget the mushrooms for the mushroom omelette and the red bliss home fries of which there were 3.
Other than that, my server was The Best, taking photos for us, bringing refill hot coffees, water, and beverages without having to flag him down. The atmosphere was pleasant and will return. Hopefully, the mushrooms will appear in my omelette next go.
Had a wonderful evening- Great place, only complaint was that they charge $8:00 for a bottle of water. the hostess brought us a bottles of water when we first sat down, and continued to replenish, she did not mention that this cost money- we assumed it was complimentary/ tap water. Over the course of the meal, 3 bottles later , We were a little disappointed to see $24 extra on the bill. Not a big deal, but wish we we had been made aware - seems pricey for water! Aside from this, great experience.
