It is supposed to be a Scandinavian restaurant. But, it has a strong influence of Japanese cuisinem exp. use of vinegar, which in some dishes too much. Presentation is excellent and amount of food is just right in a tasting menu.

We went to Aquavit and enjoyed the Chef's tasting menu, composed of 11 services. All the items on the menu were exquisite and the level of attention, details and creativity was incredible. From a frozen foie gras spreaded all over your fish to the artic bird's nest (a dessert that make you jaw drop), I highly recommend taking the Chef's tasting as the experience was one to be remembered. Sommelier was extremely knowledgeful and suggested perfect pairing with our menus. When you go to Aquavit, you feel special thanks to an incredible staff whose sole objective is to make sure you'll leave happier than you had arrived. Mission accomplished, Skål!

Choose Aquavit after seeing it on a top pre-theater dinner spot. While we did go before going to a Broadway show, we were the only couple there for the first 30 minutes. The service was extraordinary, even after the restaurant became full, the staff was very attentive. I expected the food to be good, but it was wonderful. We ordered the 5 course seasonal tasting menu. I have always been afraid I would not be able to finish the food on these menus. However, each course was just enough to give us an idea without becoming too full to enjoy the next item. In addition to the five courses, we had at least five additional offering brought to the table to enjoy. I'll not go into depth with the menu, but it included oysters, Atlantic char, and lamb. It was easily one of the highlights of my NYC weekend! The only miss- step, if you could call it that, was it was raining quite hard when time for us to leave the restaurant. We had not brought an umbrella and the restaurant did not have one to escort us to our ride to the show. Something small, but what an opportunity to go that extra step.

One of the best meals of my life. Everything was perfect from service to decor to menu. For such an upscale restaurant, the price is actually not bad.

As foreigners we found it a little difficult to hear and understand what the waiters explained about the food and wine, because of the conversation at other tables, and because of the waiters accents.

Did not live up to our expectations Head servers were pushy and made faces when we did not eat all the food Food was good but not worth the 2M stars We were rushed and presented with the check before tea Id recommend you to go to Per Se which was a truly amazing experience.
