Aqua Star at The Westin Savannah Golf Resort & Spa
Outstanding views: by day the waterfront gleams with historic beauty; by night, the lights of downtown twinkle with opportunity.
Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Brunch on Sundays.
It took one hour to get a drink. The manager did her best to resolve the issue but it seems this restaurant simply isn't what it use to be.
We went to the jazz brunch buffet for our anniversary which also happened to be Father’s Day. The food was fresh and delicious and the jazz band was great. The staff and service were lovely.
A little disappointed. Was not up to the usual outstanding brunch we become accustomed to being served on Sunday.
Service was very good.
This was one of the best brunches we have have ever had. The food was truly amazing. The live jazz was wonderful. The only negative was the service. Our waiter was MIA and we waited forever for coffee refill and plates to be cleared. I still woukd recommend for the food, waterfront view and live jazz. Hopefully the poor service was a fluke.
Guess this must have been an off night. The server kept offering my partner and I free drinks to compensate for the manure show going on behind the scenes in the kitchen. Excellent server... I only wish his work environment matched.
Restaurant at the Westin Savannah that serves breakfast. Nice view of the river. Well presented buffet. Ask for Trudie - an awesome waitress. Will give you lots of history from Savannah.
Southern time schedule in full force in this establishment.
Forgot about us and seated multiple groups ahead of us.
Once we were seated, wait staff never came to us until we were DONE eating from the buffet! Finally, just found a carafe of coffee and poured my own first cup.
Food was good. Service a huge disappointment for $24/person buffet.
Of course the view was great as always but we were disappointed this time with the food, specifically the entrées. I had the seafood potpie, which I know is a favorite, and my mother had the farfalla with lobster. The seafood potpie was a major disappointment. It was deconstructed (that's what it looked like to me anyway). The seafood was cut way too small, the vegetables reminded me of frozen peas and carrots (if that really was frozen peas and carrots, shame on you) and the sauce was bland and nondescript. The seafood potpie that I know from your restaurant from past visits, was an actual potpie with a beautiful puff pasty top. You could really dig into it and see/taste real seafood. What I had was a puff pastry "biscuit" next to the minced seafood, peas and carrot "stuff". Really disappointing!
Concerning the farfalla with lobster, my mother said it was boring and way too much (she ordered the small portion).
We really enjoy the Aqua Star but this last time was not good. Sorry.
We were very disappointed that the only lunch option was a buffet. Our server was great.
Understaffed for the workload during the convention we attended. Otherwise excellent experience. Jazz brunch expensive but delicious. Dinner very pleasant.
We didnt have a reservation when we arrived. Open Table confirmed we had a reservation but when I arrived no reservation was in the system with my name this has happen before.
Wonderful Mother's Day Brunch. When we arrived, it took them a few minutes to get our table ready but while we waited we were treated to professional photos, massages, and received a gift from the spa of Shea butter cream. Once seated, we were able to partake in the amazing assortment of food. Some regional specialties, great seafood spread, breakfast and dinner options. Oh, and did I mention the incredible dessert offerings, ohhh la la. Loved that many of the items on the buffet were different and helped to make the dining experience even more special. Great job Westin!
This is not the quality the aqua star in the past has promoted. The quantity and variety of food had changed drastically. The service was still the same the brunch was awful. I don't know if there is a different chef or something else but it doesn't seem like the same Westin or aqua star. In addition 75 dollars was too much for less food.
The food was delayed and not good. Nice view of the bay but for the price the food and service should be better.
A very salty tasting pork tenderloin - over brined, maybe - ruined the food experience for us. Our server was excellent, offered another entrée, complimentary dessert, but nonetheless we would probably not go back.
Every time we’re in Savannah we make it a point to come here for Sunday brunch! Food has never disappointed US and the jazz trio is outstanding!! Worth every penny!
Never generally fails to impress and the choices are always fresh and vary from other visits. Sometimes the servers are less than excited about their jobs and are not particularly engaged with the customers. This disappoints me because the price tab is fairly hefty and obviously only for special occasions, for most people...but that said, it is a buffet brunch and there is not a great deal of interaction with the wait staff other than clearing plates and getting drinks.
I think it's a tad pricey, the vibe is a little "tired" and I think the desserts lack imagination but overall, I think it is a winner. I have been going for many years and compare it to previous visits when it seemed more opulent and made a bigger statement, but I'm still a happy customer.
Oh - and the seats are too low. The cushions have lost their oomph!
The Brunch has changed due to a new executive chef less items than usual.
The shrimp & grits were the best I ever had. Even though the menu has changed, the quality was excellent. The bannas foster was delicious.
That station may offer Cherries jubilee ocassionally. The staff, waiters and the hostess were very pleasant.
I would like to express my disappointment in our experience at The Aqua Star today.
1. It was my wife and my anniversary, which is why we went. We go EVERY year for Sunday brunch.
2. We've returned several years because of immaculate atmosphere, stellar service, impeccable food, and overall professionalism.
I have worked as a Chef and Restaurant Consultant, in the service industry for 33 years. I have NEVER, had a WTC ( white table cloth) fine dining establishment force me, my party or anyone to move our table to the back of the restaurant, in no man's land, to make room for a large number top party. UNPROFESSIONAL. You ruined what would have otherwise been another perfect anniversary. Unfortunately, we will be celebrating our anniversary in the future, elsewhere.
Beautiful restaurant with great views. It was our 28th wedding anniversary and everything was just wonderful. Our waiter took great care of us, and even started us off with a glass of champagne to celebrate. The food was superb. I had the NY strip and my husband had the Savannah Pot Pie. I highly recommend Aqua Star.
The best part was that our waiter was MOST attentive. He was excellent.
Aqua Star was empty, with only three or four tables seated. The server was terrific and friendly. I ordered the $18 hamburger which was worth the big bucks. My wife ordered a chop salad and crab cakes. Both missed the mark. Crab cakes was low in crab content and her salad was not as advertised. Noise level good, for obvious reasons. View of the river great. As a spg platinum member I was a tad disappointed in the the low turnout, perhaps because of the food quality issue. Sorry, I like the Westin but........
Friends from out of town.
It took more than 2 hours for bringing the food after ordering. Restaurant was not busy.
Sunday brunch at the Westin never disappoints! The seafood and raw bar options are delicious, and the desserts are amazing! The view in front of the big windows is breathtaking.
Everything was awful- from the service to be food, orders got messed up and after an hour of half of waiting food was delivered cold, meals we ordered were later told they had run out of... everything was terrible.
The service was so terrible and the food was disgusting! For the price it was unacceptable. The food tasted and looked like it was frozen but expensive. The waitress took forever and didn’t know what she was talking about in regards to the food. When we asked for coffee or dessert she looked confused and then took 45 minutes to bring us cold coffee and a frozen peach pie that looked like it was out of a bag. So gross very disappointing since the hotel is so nice.
Booking brunch later in the day really cost us the experience. The food was scarce and what was left was bad/old, the service was bad because everyone was trying to break down brunch and go home and overall quickly became very overpriced. Would not recommend for a holiday brunch.
This was my first time to dine at Aqua Star. It had come highly recommended by a friend. The Easter Sunday buffet was really lovely with extra special treatment of side dishes. I particularly enjoyed the seafood raw bar. It was an extra treat to find lovely live music to accompany our meal.
Shared an Easter Brunch with two close friends. The meal was terrific. Fresh pasta station, fresh seafood raw bar, very fresh salad bar were all exceptional. Dessert table was a little depleated by the time we got there as our reservation was for 1:45 and they closed up at 3:30. My only complaint is that they staff never informed us that the cost was $75/person even after my wife called to ensure that we were booking for Easter Sunday. Perhaps, in retrospect, we should have asked. We probably would have gone anyway but I think they could have been a little more straight forward.
A great time and delicious food. Raymond, our server, was wonderful and took care of us. We always love the Westin!
Very good , more seafood will be better and free alcohol
The food was average at best, and the service was poor. There are much better dining options available in Savannah.
OMG!! My husband and I extended and finalized our 10th wedding anniversary weekend at the Aqua Star Sunday Brunch. We had a fabulous time and the food was so delicious, from the appetizer to the desserts. Fine dining, great conversation, and great music! What a great place to celebrate a monumental experience!!!💕
My first visit to Aqua Star was in late 2014. It was wonderful. So much so we drove to Savannah again from Charleston, SC in early 2015 just to have brunch again at Aqua Star, this time bringing along our two adult daughters. Again, fantastic. We loved it so, we brought our daughter and now son-in-law in 2017 to celebrate there engagement. They loved it as well. What a difference a year makes. My husband and I visited Savannah again in March 2018, giddy with anticipation to have brunch at Aqua Star. It was such a disappointment. The buffet/stations seemed to have dwindled by half. The elaborate dessert display was no more. The kids station was no more. I had to ask the server for bread. She said she had to get some from the back. It took 15 minutes for her to bring me rock hard rolls. I went to ask a station attendant if there was bread, they did not know. I asked a lady I saw bringing out food if they had bread, she said yes and took me to a bowl that had what looked like raw and cold rolls that were still covered by a cloth/napkin that was hidden by the carving station. I asked the attendant at the carving station for a thin slice of ham. Unfortunately he could not give me what I asked as there was a language barrier situation. So I just took what he gave me, with disappointment. On the way to my table, I was practically "knocked down" by the hostess and another employee, locked arm in arm and giggling in another language. Very rude, did not try to make way for a customer coming with a plate in hand. We actually did bump shoulders and they just continued on their way. I looked back and they just kept walking, giggling, arm in arm. Unfortunately, I will not be making the trip back to Savannah for Aqua Star. If you are new to Aqua Star, you may like it, however I know how much better it was during my visits between 2014-2017. The selections, staff, and service had declined, but the price has not.
Also, the hostess did not give a good first impression.
Fabulous Sunday brunch! We traveled via boat and docked right at the Westin. From start to finish, the day was wonderful. The dining room is serene and relaxed with a stunning view of the Savannah skyline and waterfront, looking across from Hutchinson Island. Aqua Star is the kind of place where guests can come decked out for special occasions and also feel perfectly comfortable in casual attire.
On Sundays, a jazz trio from the Fabulous Equinox Jazz Orchestra plays standards, adding to the experience.
Service is superb - beginning with the hostess and including all of the wait staff who aim to please.
The highlight is the magnificent food. We've dined here for dinner (which is outstanding), and yet the brunch was even more spectacular. On the way to the "eggs to order" station, we totally missed the very healthy and beautiful salad table with a wide assortment with selections. In addition to an extensive raw bar of seafood, there was shrimp & grits, eggs benedict, applewood chicken sausage, bacon, fruit, as well as various potato, vegetable, and pasta dishes. The dessert table included elegant pastries, apple torte, a marvelous chocolate concoction, and "made to order" bananas foster flambe served over Leopold's butter pecan ice cream... YUM!
We loved the Aqua Star brunch so much that we're bringing other guests again in a few weeks.
We attended during restaurant week. There were only 2 offerings on the menu and they were out off one. They substituted the pork chop and it was very good. Service was very slow and they messed up 3 of our orders. it took approximately 2 hours for meal and the restaurant was 1/4 full. Very slow . it was disappointing
We went here for restaurant week and are Savannah locals. It was everyone's first time to Aqua Star. The food was fantastic and we all agreed we will go back. Great view of Savannah and they will validate your parking if you take in the garage, but valet was only $10.
This place was worth every bit of the $ I am NOT a Buffett person but their off the charts with fresh oysters on the 1/2 shell shrimp and grits and on and on
WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!
Everything was fine. Seemed like less food choices than we were accustomed to in the past, especially less salads and desserts. Having said that, it’s OK with less choices if hey are able to keep the price reasonable. Food that was there as delicious.
