Poor service. Good food. Good vibes. But drinks took 30 mins to arrive & waitresses ignored you as much as possible.
Great location, cool atmosphere, good food, poor hostess and management staff let the rest of the experience down .
Very lively place, great atmosphere and service.
Best sushi in town!!!! Amazing!
I was really disappointed with this visit to Aqua Kyoto. It was a warm day but felt as though I was in a pub. The terrace was full of drinkers and smokers and there were a couple of large groups celebrating birthdays, doing shots and being cheered on. The food was nice and flavoursome as usual but the portions were minute compared to previous visits. I couldn’t actually wait to get out as the smell of smoke wafting in was so unpleasant. A real shame as this used to be a nice place to go for something special.
We made the reservation at 8pm, have to wait till 8:30 as it’s full. Once we sat down, have to wait for another 15 mins to order. Starter was fine but we have to wait for 30 mins for the main course ( after the dishes have been cleared) and further 25 mins for the dessert to come.
The food was ok, not great. There are much better Japanese restaurant in London.
Very noisy, not good for special occasion nor date.
Absolute shambles! Waited 45mins to be seated, took 25mins to be served and that inly because i called the waiter over! Food came out at different times when i asked for it to be bought out all together. Food was missing. Tried to order something and was told they ran out 15 mins later the chef is making it for someone else who happened to sit 2 tables away from me. Very poor. Disgusted with the service. Food was average! Will never be returning
What a disastrous service, never again!
Arrived half an hour early for a drink, waited 20 mins for some g&t.
There was a 45 mins delay on the table, had to keep asking for it as nobody approached us with any update. When asked for our table the hostess said that guests don't want to leave and it's not her fault?!
Once shown through we waited another 15 mins to have some attention.
Waiter had absolutely no knowledge of the deal we booked with and persisted that it's not available for dinner, had to show him the t&c...at this point we considered leaving the venue!
Managed to order another round of drinks, food started to arrive but we still didnt receive the drinks. We could see them on a tray at the bar and had to ask a waitress passing by to be so kind and serve them, only to realise that they didnt prepare the right cocktail for one of us. Guess what?! It took another 20 mins to arrive, my friend told them that she doesnt want it anymore and the waitress insisted saying that it's on the house.
The food was nice in general, especially the prawn tempura, sea bass & desserts.
However you can get much better sushi in other restaurants.
The staff was inattentive, in fact rude.. the waiter 'looking after' us and the blond hostess should think about a career change, they have no idea about hospitality. At no point have they apologised or asked if we enjoy the food. Had to flag down somebody every time we needed something. We asked to speak with the manager but no luck.
Thumbs up to the Spanish waitress who was the only person in the room with a smile and the right attitude.
Our bill arrived with the previously mentioned cocktail & service charge?!
We booked through an App which is only available for those working in the industry and know how it feels when you are drowning but it is nonsense to let your guests down so much.
You guys have to get your act together, with these price points guests will expect some service...
Whilst the food was delicious the poor service spoilt our evening. In such a busy venue it's such a shame that there is obviously not enough staff. We felt we were invisible and not valued as customers at all.
Absolutely RUBBISH service - great food. A shame as this place could be good, there weren’t enough staff to serve the tables - all drinks and food terribly slow and non existent service. Would not go back.
Food was good. Service was not great, slow and inattentive. Very expensive
Food was nice - the terrace will open summer which will be nice for drinks and then good.
Very small main course portion with no sides, a bit mean seeing as we paid the additional £8 supplement for this dish
Visited this restaurant with a friend for the first time in advance of attending a show at the nearby London Palladium. My friend often visits Japan and felt the menu options provided a good range of the county’s wonderful cuisine. The food was of an excellent standard, as was the wine menu. Service was very good, efficient but not intrusive. We followed some recommendations made to us and were not disappointed at the outcome. The only slight negative was that the background music levels were slightly too high for our tastes, but that could be an age related problem! Also the prices are quite high - but it is a central London location so no surprise really. Have already rebooked another visit with my partner when we next visit the theatre in April.
The perfect way to celebrate my friend’s birthday! We went for the Saturday brunch with the bottomless veuve. It was absolutely fantastic. We didn’t have to wait long before we were topped up and the food was plentiful and didn’t leave hungry! Highly recommended and we will definitely return!
Liana was really nice and helpful. Food came in big portion. Shame we were there at closing time so really quiet.
A lovely meal overall, have dined at a number of Japanese restaurants in town and it is pretty good.. Some dishes better than others. Decent vegetarian choices. Some dishes are a bit 'same-y' like the mushrooms and asparagus both have the same dressing and sesame on everything! But tasty though. Veggie sushi very good. Edamame green tea noodles surprising good! Chicken wings boneless really tasty. Lots of model like people dining at the tables, good for people watching! Dessert is OK, a bit off key flavour with Asian twist doesn't always work in our opinion but I'm sure people do enjoy it.
Had to wait nearly half an hour even though we had a confirmed booking. Sushi was very overpriced, similar can be had in Chinatown for a fraction of the cost.
The sushi we wanted wasn't available and the other dishes were nice but expensive for what they were. It took half an hour to get our wine order and feel compared to other tables we were not attended to as often. We love Roka and other restaurants yet, we disappointed with having to pay a similar price for a lesser service and food we didn't enjoy as much.
Great service and lovely food. Aqua never dissapoints
Ottimo sushi e sashimi, all’altezza delle aspettative.
A stunning restaurant with the right balance of chic, well presented, authentic Japanese cuisine in an elegant dining room where chefs could observed preparing sushi. The cocktails are also worth your time.
Always fun to eat here, friendly staff, amazing food
Great food but despite my request for a quiet table they seated us next to a large noisy group in the middle. When we asked for a different table we were told, all booked. However there were quiet tables empty and still empty when we left. Spoilt my friend’s birthday celebration
Really the perfect atmosphere for our special evening. Food was fantastic, the buta baraniku to unagi yaki (eel and pork belly) was gorgeous. Wine list is great as well!
Was 5* experience! Didn’t feel like we were in the middle of London. Food and drinks were of a high standard
Good restaurant with a fantastic view. Cocktails were brilliant as well.
Worst service ever
I have received better service in many cheap china town restaurants. I will never go back and food is overpriced and not that great
Have been a few times now - for brunch and also later in evening for dinner - always good food, good service - great value! One of my go-to's in London
Lovely food, good atmosphere, good price but poor service. The waitress we had was very good when she was available but it felt like she had too many people to serve.
Waited 30 mins for table
Food quality for the price-point is mediocre, another 10 restaurants that do Asian-Fusion better
Definitely lost it's touch over the years
I was waiting to be seated 45 minutes, food is good.
this is the second time we have been to Aqua Kyoto. the food is good as the service and atmosphere, but in reality the prices are more than they should be for the standard of the food. we have eaten better Japanese food at more reasonable prices on a number of occasions. we don't think the location or atmosphere, albeit good, are enough to justify the pricing.
Went for the set menu and was overwhelmingly disappointed. Food was presented attractively but just lack in taste, texture and consistency as described on the menu.
Very swanky restaurant with a wonderful sky garden. Staff are friendly, attentive and provide a great service. A huge plus for me is that they make a concerted effort to welcome people. The food is outstandingly fresh and tasty. Especially the beautiful miso soup and seared tuna. The spicy lamb chops with tomato miso was absolutely devine! Japanese cuisine are small portions, however very healthy and reflected in their prices. An excellent selection of Japanese beers. I particularly enjoyed the Kirin Ichiban. We had a lovely time and Aqua Kyoto is definitely highly recommended and worthy of another visit. Well done for a thoroughly enjoyable and fabulous dining experience!
Food was lovely - well presented and delicious. Only downside was while staff were friendly, the service was painfully slow. Almost 4 hours and we had to follow up drinks and food orders several times.
We chose the luxury £36 wagyu bento box and a selection of sushi. The beef was low grade and chewy. The 4 green pepper tempura is a joke! You would expect prawn tempura or at least a variety of vegetables. The sushi was tiny we ordered were tiny. The end was not fresh. Not value for money at all! I would recommend Engawa in soho.
The ambience and the service was good. Shane about the food.
Lovely selection of doifferent dishes. Shame they don’t do take away!
The food was good but it is overpricedfor what it was.
Aqua Kyoto is a slick commercial enterprise rather than a proper restaurant. On Friday night there were many items missing from the sashimi / sushi menu and, of course, there were no additional other choices because it is not the kind of place that has a sushi chef that can make that judgment.
The service was slow and things were served in an odd order. The food was fine, but not memorable.
The first time I visited I was underwhelmed, but I went back to confirm my judgment.
This is not a bad place. The food is of reasonable quality ; the environment is slick and commercial ; the noise level is fairly high ; the price is a bit much for what you get.
