We had thought we booked for the 3 course plus cocktail for £30 , only to be told that the offer was only available up to 7pm; not sure why my booking was accepted for 8pm!!! A bit disappointing as we then had to temper what we ordered due to the price of the food.
Prior to being seated, we were in the bar and we were treated extremely well, with one of the staff (Gianluca) making the time to talk us through some of the cocktail choices and make a few himself which I have to say was spot on everytime.
When seated we explained our dilemma and the waiting staff were absolutely brilliant and didn't make us feel like cheapskates (LOL!), and made some suggestions. The food we received was out of this world, creative in how it was presented (I eat with my eyes), one of the dishes actually moved whilst still on the plate (kodak moment definitely), the taste of each dish was phenomenal. Yes we did end up paying over the odds for our food but to be honest it was worth every penny.
The evening was a birthday treat to both of us and it definitely was that.
Would I go again, most definitely (deal or no deal!)
Thank you Aqua Kyoto.
The food was amazing but the service was lacking. We arrived on time for our table booking and by the time we had handed in our coats we were 5 minutes behind schedule. We were told upstairs that we would have to wait 15 to 20 minutes for our table. We therefore asked for a complimentary drink whilst we were waiting. This was refused as the member of staff told us that she didn't know if we would have to wait 20 minutes but that it could take up to that time. Her manager subsequently came out and said a table would be ready in two minutes. On entering the restaurant, several tables were in fact empty, including two tables of two right next to each other (we were a party of two).
In addition we had to ask waiters on more than one occasion to bring drinks we had ordered as well as the bill at the end had to be asked for twice. Moreover, we had the (excellent) experience menu and the waiter did not explain the dishes when they arrived.
Very poor service overall but a lovely setting and outstanding food. A great shame.
I didn't expect this placa is such noisy for enjoying Japanese food but it is not a bad for a Friday night date！Food is great as expected，fatty tuna is what everyone must try！！
Our evening was ruined by the attitude of our waitress who appeared to be too busy to serve us. It took 15 minutes and 3 requests to get water, unlike our previous experience she did not offer any suggestions on the menu and it took 1 hour to pay the bill. The worst part of the evening was when our waitress cleared our plates before we had finished eating so I did not get to try the kimche or finish our rice. I did manage to hold on to my plate as she tried to take it while I was cutting my lamb. What a shame as the food was delicious.
Fantastic food. Really fresh sushi/sashimi.
Good brunch offer - great choice options, good value for money.
I have dined at many restaurants and I found this one over priced for quality of what was served. I have had far better and overall found the experience utterly disappointing. The food was predominantly only slightly warm and nothing is worst than cold food that is then out before you to dine on which has been sat on the pass for too long. The tempura prawn were reasonably nice, however the bbq chicken wings were unpleasant, poorly seasoned and chewy. The baby ginger chicken was cold and smoothed in a bbq sauce and tasteless green sludge in a vain attempt to mask how bland, dull and unimaginative it was in flavour and presentation. Don’t waste your time and money - I’m just disappointed
The environment is perfect for a drink however not a fine dinning , as the bar is right next to the dinning place and the music is too disturbing to talk with your partner.
Food is generally good, it’s has the mixture Korean Japanese and Thai cuisine.
The waiter is very friendly however if seems like he is in a rush all the time as he keep coming to ask if we have decided through the first 10 mins after we sat down.
Generally, it’s a place worth going to try however not somewhere I will come back again with frds.
Great food. Great service
Outstanding service, food was ok
The service from our waitress could have been a bit better but overall we had an enjoyable evening.
sushis were better before.
One of my favourite spots for Japanese food. The homegrown menu makes it very unique.
The music was too loud to hear people talk. The food has gone down a little and service needs improvement based on the money the restaurant is charging, the chicken dish for example was just covered in what seemed to a type BBQ sauce was not eatable. The most dishes came at the same time before we could finish the starter and the soup.
Lovely restaurant for a celebration. Roof top bar is lovely with great views. Food good and service amazing. Pricey but that you get what you pay for.
Great food, poor service. Waitress was rude, abrupt and rushed our dinner.
Had better experiences at the same restaurant previously and would go back on that basis
Everything was exceptional, and what topped it off was the impeccable service from your staff.
Ideal for London Palladium. Cocktails were great. Scallops outstanding.
We went on the Sunday. the restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent. The food tasted great but the portion was too small.
Amazing - one of my favorite restaurants - does not disappoint!
We was rushed which was not appreciated. Understandably the table may have been needed but the restaurant was not busy
I have been to Aqua Kyoto probably 5 times already and it stays my favourite. I love the decor, the ambience, the service & above alk, the food. Oh my goodness!! So so good!!
Beautiful venue, top-notch service and food to die for. The brunch is well worth the money for the quantity and quality of food on offer. We opted for the bottomless Prosecco offer, and our glasses were constantly topped up. Can’t fault the place!
Very nice restaurant in the heart of London. Very good food (Japanese, fusion, chinese). Prices above the average. Booking in advance is mandatory. Too noise according to me.
tasty food, service was quite slow - waiters seemed to be severely lacking in numbers and sitting next to the door out to the balcony was cold as people never closed it or the waiters didn't bother! good value with the set menu but atmosphere was tainted with the lack of lighting - one small candle per table - they did not have more when asked
Another great visit. Food is great and the atmosphere buzzing on a Saturday nights.
The place has gone down, bad service, meh food and pricy... not worth it any longer
We had an amazing dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday on a Saturday night. All the dishes we had were extraordinary. We will definitely come back especially for the soft shell crab tempuras!!
First visit to Aqua Kyoto was for the brunch. Food was nicely presented, sushi was a bit different, good rock shrimp tempura and Japanese rice. Bottomless champagne was very generously and attentively topped up.
The food was good as usual however the service was very poor! Lots of staff just standing around and no one even came and asked if all was ok. Had to get our own wine out of the cooler and serve ourselves. The waguy beef was over cooked unfortunately.
The staff absoulutly lovely, security absolutely lovely. The food amazing and drinks too. A great place for a casual or special get together. Will be coming back most definitely. Also the food will fill you up! X
Will not be returning. Five years ago this standard was acceptable. Now it is poor in comparison with other concepts in London. Refused to change one dish within the tasting menu (requested because it was shellfish and would have killed my guest) - making a substitution (at the chefs discretion as to what to replace with) shouldn’t be an issue for an £80/head tasting menu. It’s okay here but only okay.
Bad food bad service. Very expensive. They close for lunch???????
Very very small menu.
Didn’t get the servers name but she was great!
We had the signature menu which was delicious.
Arrived early because we missed theatre due to far right march in central london. Staff were brilliant, found us a table for drinks and even got us our table early.
Food was awesome as always and managed to dig out a fine rare bottle of wine. All in all.... pretty awesome
Absolutely fabulous. So good we asked to speak to the manager to give our entirely positive feedback. As well as brilliant service our main comment was “you’ve taken Japanese cooking to a new level.” Don’t miss the little yakitori skewers. And no need to push the boat out on high priced wines, there are some very, very good wines at reasonable cost. Overall, just fantastic.
The new brunch menu is very good , with a range of choices compared with before. Very good value and the service was excellent.
Beautiful interiors, and great food
It was a great night but the place is bit loud while having a dinner. Amazing food and good service.
Food and ambience great - bar staff really busy so ages to get a drink or two (if you arrive for a pre meal cocktail for the rooftop bar)
