AQUA by El Gaucho Ratings and Reviews
Start to finish, service was professional and pleasant. If you are into seafood, this spot has great options. I'm vegetarian and did not feel like I was missing out. My girlfriend took advantage of the seafood offerings. Both of us had a great time and really enjoyed the food. The cocktails were outstanding and the wine, with which we had some help selecting, was phenomenal! Big smiles from start to finish in a lovely setting. Catch it around sunset, if you can. Note, tip is included.
Our waiter Winter was very attentive. Seated immediately and they had a thoughtful card signed by the staff for a celebrant in our party. Plus rose petals on the table. Nice touch by the staff. Valet is the only parking if you don't want to park on the street. Also service charge is now added to your bill automatically.
I had a nice time but was disappointed in the service of our server. It felt like because we are a younger couple, she didn't think we had the money to foot the bill.. Maybe that was just her personality. I wouldn't be bothered if I had that level of service dining there for brunch, but not for a $300 dinner for two. The food & drinks were great. The additions they do for special occasions were lovely. Front desk was welcoming and personable.
The views were spectacular. The service was friendly. However, the major reason to go to any restaurant is the food; not the view, not the service, not the noise level...the food. Here it was just "good". Nothing special for the money. The food was underwhelming, particularly for the price. There are better seafood restaurants in town and most of them are less expensive. Here are some other factors to consider also. First, when making the reservation, I had to give them a credit card number to hold the reservation. Not a good policy. (There were no patrons breaking down the doors to get in.) Second, the "tip" to the server is automatically added to the bill (20%). It is NOT discretionary. You can't leave, say 15%, or 10% because your service was less than "great". So, if the gratuity is automatically added to the bill, isn't this really a "food cost"?? Which means their food costs are prohibitive. Like, I said, there are so many "good" seafood restaurants in Seattle which cost so much less.
Took my family for Easter Brunch and it was an amazing buffet. Outstanding picks were the salmon which was cooked perfectly, the french toast, and the omelette bar. The rest of the food was fantastic as well. The only complaint was that there was a long line for the raw bar as there was only one shucker.
Having previously had an amazing experience at El Gaucho, I had high expectations for Aqua. The restaurant has nice decor - romantic and sophisticated with live piano music, and an amazing view of the sound, Olympic mountains, and Mt. Rainier when the weather is clear. Our server was nice, but the service was pretty slow - especially considering it wasn't busy. My husband and I were both impressed with our soups (crab bisque and oyster stew), but our entrees were just "fine" (swordfish and tuna). We felt that we could replicate either dish quite easily at home, and the swordfish portion was rather small. I expected more for the price. Dessert (bread pudding) was very good. Overall, it was a good experience, but we probably won't go back - maybe for lunch or drinks on the patio in summer.
Very pleasant service. Friendly & helpful with menu/wine suggestions. Smoked salmon chowder was great. Creamy with crunchy topping. The scallops with almond crust & halibut were excellent. Service felt a tiny bit rushed especially since the restaurant wasn't packed but the view made up for any minor flaws!
My girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary dinner at El Gaucho's Bellevue location and I recommend it to anyone looking for great food and amazing staff. They seated us in the quietest area of the restaurant and our table had been arranged with rose pedals, flowers, champagne, and a signed card of congratulations from the staff. For appetizers, we shared the northwest oysters and the crab cakes. For dinner, she had the peppercorn steak and I had the filet mignon. Our cocktails were delicious and the recommended wine pairing was spot on. The food was prepared perfectly and the staff was attentive without hovering. I requested a song from the pianist and he played it as our food had arrived. This is our favorite place in Bellevue!
celebrated my husband's birthday at aqua. it lived upto our expectations. our family ordered the salmon special, sea bass, scallop entree and mac-n-cheese. all the seafood dishes were excellent, the mac and cheese was way too salty to eat. we had wonderful service, drinks and had a great time. will go again, but we will probably avoid mac and cheese.
It was an awesome experience. We had the crab cakes, seaweed salad and ahi tuna tartare were all excellent appetizers. Main course was the prime New York strip with Oscar style topping and of course really good. Then to top it all off was the bread pudding. I have tried bread pudding everywhere and by far this was the only place that have great bread pudding. AWESOME!!!!!!
Oysters great selection and extremely fresh, medallions of new york melted in mouth, maderia mushroom sauce nothing short of spectacular, stuffed shrimp cooked to perfection, waiters recommendation for dessert (bread pudding) spectacular finish to a wonderful dinner, to top it off provided free transportation back to our hotel
I expected better. The food was just ok. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing...the shrimp was over cooked and a waste of $44. The sea bass looked good. The sole was ok without much flavor. The crab mac and cheese was blah. The lobster mashed potatoes were good.
The shining star and the only reason we would go back - the BREAD PUDDING was incredible!!
Went to AQUA for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner........ The service was great along with the food. I was happy to see that AQUA did not squeeze extra tables throughout the restaurant and over crowd the sitting area to take advantage of a "Valentine's Day crowd". I have been to restaurants where this has happened on occasions like Valentine's Day and it makes for an unpleasant experience. I would definitely recommend AQUA and would recommend the tenderloin appetizer and the Ahi tuna entree.
