AQUA by El Gaucho Ratings and Reviews
I found the restaurant very accommodating to our last minute reservation. I had the blackened Cod and my wife tried in the Halibut. She commented that her food was cold. It must have been a timing issue bringing the meals out at the same time. My Cod was indulgent and perfect.
I commented to my wife that is was very presumptuous for Agua to add a 20 % gratuity to a party of 2. This is common practice for large parties but......a party of 2, really? I tip more that 20% and added for our server. Please do not add the tip for me.
Thank you for the shuttle service to our event.....that is a very nice touch.
We were celebrating 50 years of friendship! My wife and I met in 7th grade and we have been together since that first day we met. AQUA staff was amazing! Restaurant Manager Rena set a table that was covered with rose petals along with a card signed by the staff congratulating us. Our waiter Mikiya was so attentive to our every need. I appreciated Mikiya kneeling down next to our table to take our order. This is a very comforting move on his part! We asked him for his recommendation for both the entree to dessert. The Alaskan Halibut was amazing as well as their bread pudding. My wife never orders cocktails and she asked Mikiya’s recommendation which is tricky. He asked her what she usually drinks and he recommended this one cocktail that was absolutely right on! Thank you AQUA for helping us celebrate our love for each other!
Aqua is the place to take your significant other for a nice quiet yet romantic evening. The food was to die for, the serving size was just about right (maybe a little more than needed), the presentation was elegant, and the food itself was prepared to ensure that your flavor buds would be happy.
Food was nothing exceptional. Tasted like good cruise ship food. The service was excellent, but unimpressed by the appetizers (wicked shrimp). Was overcooked chewy shrimp. The scallops and risotto entree was ok. Risotto tasted thick like I️t was out under a heat lamp too long. The bread pudding was good, but almost too sugary sweet with not enough flavors. Overall, I️ would not recommend this place.
We really wanted to like Aqua; we enjoy old-school restaurants and were interested in enjoying an old Seattle favorite rather than something trendy and hip.
Our server was great, but the food was marginal at best, and it wasn't cheap. Food was tepid when it arrived at our table, and the preparation was decent but was absolutely NOT worth the price. The evening was made relatively acceptable by our great server, but even her stellar service didn't make up for the mediocre food.
We won't be returning.
Took my wife here for our 10 year anniversary dinner. We were on vacation from NY. This place had an awesome aesthetic layout and the piano player totally did his thing.
Look understand that you get for in life what you pay for. This place is expensive. Not for the tight fisted with money. That brings said this was an amazing dining experience. First class Service, food was amazing. We had the calamari and pancetta wrapped prawns for starters both were stellar. The prawns were something special.
For dinner my wife selected the surf and turf and I ordered the Chilean sea bass, again both perfect. Overall if I could give 9 stars I would. If you want to know fine dining give this place a try.
Aqua is the best restaurant in Seattle, period. The food is absolutely delicious. Of course the seafood is fresh and perfectly prepared. But the vegis & sides are so good, I could make a meal out of them. And the steaks are from their sister restaurant El Gaucho so you don’t need to be a seafood lover to have a memorable meal. Frankly the food alone would be enough to earn a 5 star rating but on top of that, they have amazing service (shout out to Peter and Lee Ann), the view of the sound and the Olympic mountains is breath taking and the live piano music creates a very special ambience. GO! You will love it! BTW, if you are celebrating a special occasion be sure to mention it when you make your rez...you’ll get a little extra “love” from the staff.
Aqua is an amazing experience - outstanding old world service and food at a 10 star level - mixture of fresh and fantastic seafood with melt in your mouth filets along with a expansive wine list and all of this on the water with valet parking makes every visit a special occasion!!!
We came here for Seattle Restaurant Week, was a great experience, service was above and beyond!! My only disappointment was the seafood dish available for the SRW menu- essentially a fruit de mer, but it was in a crushed tomato sauce that overpowered the flavor of the fish. The pasta was also lukewarm. My boyfriend had the lamb, which was amazing! Everything else tasted absolutely wonderful. The noise was also a bit much. We loved the piano playing, but it was such a loud, open room, we had a hard time hearing one another. We definitely can't say enough great things about the service.
Went for my husband's birthday and it was fantastic. The food was great, the staff was very attentive, and there was always someone available for a recommendation. The pianist was wonderful. He played some oldies and even squeezed in a Nirvana song, which made my husbands night! We had a great time!
Wedding anniversary dinner was amazing, as always. Once seated, we discovered rose peddles on our table and a signed card from the entire staff. A classy touch and very appreciated. We started with a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir and a seasonal greens salad. My wife had the crab stuffed sole and I had the surf & turf, with roasted vegetables, and grilled corn. All were prepared to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed/ We ended the meal with the bread pudding and coffee, as we continued to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Our waiter and the support staff were attentive, but absolutely in the background, which enabled us to enjoy our company and celebrate our special evening. Thank you for an amazing evening!
Overall the dining experience and food was very good. We were warmly greeted by the hostess but did have to wait several minutes with no one in front of us to be seated in a restaurant with open tables. The wait staff was friendly, professional and attentive. We ordered the mussels and calamari as appetizers. Everyone loved the mussels. The calamari was very good but in the past it had more spice to it which I happen to prefer. The one this time was a bit bland.
Caesar salads were typical and not a standout. Almost too much dressing so the lettuce was wilted; perhaps standing too long on the plates before being served. Everyone ordered seafood and enjoyed their entrees. Most entrees come with minimal sides. We ordered a variety of sides.....corn was described as "chili" but wasn't very spicy though tasty, mashed potatoes bland, roasted veggies a miss and french fries excellent. We shared a key lime pie and bread pudding which was a miss.....no depth of lime flavor to the pie and the bread pudding overly sweet. The ambiance and attentive staff made the evening a huge success....expect better food for an upscale restaurant like Aqua. We will return hoping for a better food experience. I dined here twice over the summer and it was much better so perhaps the kitchen was having an off night.
We recently visited for a date night in the city. Parking was great as it was a rainy night though hard to see that parking was available. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Having food allergies the waiter was very welcoming to answer questions and if he didn’t know the answer he went and found the answer. Food was delicious. Cooked perfectly. We would definitely visit again!
The food arrived and the order was not as we asked. It took forever to get the attention of someone to have the food exchanged. So we ate the main dish and the sides only came after we finished the main dish. The vegetables were drenched in oil. No taste. Not impressed at all.
