AQ Chop House by Il Mulino
Sunday brunch is outstanding. A wide variety of dishes available buffet style, including lobster, Il Mulino’s awesome homemade pastas and a variety of desserts. Several options of cocktails are included in the price and service is very attentive. A little on the pricey side but well worth it!
Sitting outside the II Mulino restaurant located inside the Acqualina Hotel in Sunny Isles Beach, AQ offers a varied menu of steaks, fish, sushi and other staples. To my surprise and to my party of five as well, all the selections were excellent. The NY strip was perfectly cooked. The sushi was outstanding and fresh to the taste. The pasta and fish dishes were also delicious. But what made the dinner never more enjoyable was the excellent service we received. Truly an enjoyable experience. While we ate at a quiet period, I am sure the staff would be as professional and helpful during a more active evening. Lastly, the setting was comfortable and attractive. The option to eat outside is also available. Overall, I highly recommend diners try this gem.
This was our 2nd time. The first was not good, steaks were below average. Tough and kind of gamey. This time I ordered fish and it was terrible. Snapper had no taste whatsoever and the sauce tasted like something out of a can. The calamari app was ok. I will never go back. We love the hotel and the Italian restaurant there is great . Without a doubt the WORST $450 meal I’ve ever had. No one at the table finished their food and not because of large portions. Very unsatisfactory. I can’t imagine you get good reviews. Lotsa work to do. Mark
great food, good service, ideal for families. Love this place
Food was outstanding, staff amazing . I will definitely be back. Beautiful setting out doors
Food was average but the service was wonderful
Great food, friendly service and amazing view.
The food took almost one hour to be served. Appetizers were served together with entree’s. Food was definitely nothing exceptional and certainly are not aligned with extremely high prices. Very disappointing. Not coming back...
I told the hostesss to tell the manager it was the worst service, drinks terrible, and the Dover Sole had multiple bones ($75) no sides. Awful experience . I should have requested a refund. Terrible.
Most beautiful setting at the elegant Acqualina hotel with magnificent views of the ocean. What a shame that they can’t improve their service! It was abominable ! We were staying at the hotel and gave it a second try..once again, we did not even get served water for about 40 minutes! The server was rude and sarcastic, and she clearly did not want to be there. We were one of 2 tables and she kept complaining that she was overwhelmed with the winter rush! When we asked to move seats for a better view (again the whole patio was empty), she abruptly picked up our menus and literally threw them at us. The food was good, but not exceptional. For the high prices and the amount of time we waited, we expected the food to be much better. Honestly, it was not worth the money or frustration. We will not be returning.
Nice outdoor patio
Forgot to bring us our second course, and waiters took too long to respond to anything. I get during busy hours this may happen, but it wasn't very busy, and we still got charged for the second course which we never ate, because it was a "special" running for Valentines day.
Staff was apologetic. We had filet mignon, lamb chops, and a hamberger. Flavorless! Staff offered free desert, we declined and left after less than eventful 2+ hour dinner.
Been here a number of times over the years, but tonight is the last time. Steak & burgers over cooked and not good even if they had been cooked properly, everything overpriced, but the worst was the tip was included and then they had a suggested tip that would have raised the tip to 45% if you weren’t paying attention. Then $13 to park your car with restaurant validation. To be avoided at all cost.
Excellent service and delicious food. Really enjoyed it.
Wow what a pleasant surprise ... food was really good ... tuna steak was huge and very tasty ... service was great food came fast ... really nice ... although the restaurant is pretty much in hotel lobby area it feels like ... the food and service for the price are great for a solid meal !
Service and food were outstanding at the AQ Chop House. The team wait staff is very attentive and they have great recommendations. It was a pleasure dining here. All four of us really enjoyed our food. The pasta bolognese was outstanding. As expected with a high quality chop house, it is not inexpensive.
This was the worst night other then our waiter who was spectacular. If it were for him we were walking out without dinner on Christmas. There was some sort of problem in the kitchen and we waited for over an hour and a half for our dinner. Rethink this place bc Il mulino uses the same kitchen
I absolutely loved AQ Chop House! I made a reservation for my boyfriends birthday, and without even requesting, they decorated our table beautifully! Amazing service amazing food and an amazing view. I would highly recommend everyone come here. 10/10
The food was excellent. The room was very cold, my guests were complaining throughout the meal. The service was slow despite the restaurant being empty. The waiter spent some time explaining the fish choice, Dover Sole, to me which I selected and they brought Branzino - which was excellent but obviously not what ordered.
The staff actually cares and the food was great. Thank you for a wonderful evening tonight!
The food was amazing and the service was impeccable!
Beautiful dining inside and outside!!
I had a great time this pass weekend. It was my husbands birthday and wanted to go somewhere new. I seen several review which were some bad one. Do not listen to them. Experience it for your own. We had a great time and we will definitely go back.
I would not recommend this restaurant. My husband and I went there looking forward to this off shoot of Il Mulino but I can't imagine there is actually an association. The featured specialty, meatballs, were terrible. My husband's pasta looked terribly unappetizing and he said it was awful. Very disappointing experience.
The place was amazing!!!! However we were 1 of 2 tables and we where constantly being told we do not have this fish, that dish and down played since we did not go to the other dining place in the Hotel.
Excellent food and excellent service
Delicious !!! Food amazing . Great wine . Beautiful view.
We expected a fantastic dinner based on recent top hotel awards and the reputation of the hotel. Unfortunately we were not impressed.
The outdoor dining area was lovely and it was a beautiful night to sit outside near the fountain with a view of the beach.
Our waiter was very nice but I’m sure he was happy once we left because I think he was tired of apologizing for all the problems that arose.
I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the bone in ribeye both to be cooked medium. They both came out well done. It took a while for our waiter to come check on us and we asked to send our steaks back. It takes a lot for me to send food back to the kitchen but these were totally over cooked.
Our waiter apologized and comped us an extra glass of wine which was a nice gesture while we waited for our food.
When our steaks came out again my husbands ribeye was cooked properly but my filet was still over cooked at probably a medium well done. The filet was tender but flavorless and the ribeye was totally average in quality. We have cooked better steaks at home in the grill.
We ordered two desserts. Chocolate gelato and chocolate mousse. After a very long wait our server brought out rocky road ice cream. They were apparently out of gelato. And the chocolate mousse was apparently all frozen. He offered to bring us a signature dessert from Il Mulino. That was the highlight of our dinner. It was ice cream with a hard chocolate shell.
He comped our desserts as well after all the mix ups.
I can’t fault our server but I really found it hard to believe a highly rated hotel like this would have such a bad restaurant.
I was looking forward to dining here for awhile from having experienced the original in NYC. While the service was outstanding, the food was good but fairly pedestrian. Tuna crudo appetizer had absolutely no flavor with exception of the sauce served around the plate. No capers as advertised and served with rock hard crostini. Crostini with tuna crudo? The burrata appetizer was standard fare and much better can be found in most Italian restaurants.
The seared tuna entre' was good but again, nothing special. My short rib ravioli was also good but better can be found in many places. Two notable things... the flash fried tiny leaves of sage served with the ravioli was a nice flavorful touch and the dulce de leche sorbet for dessert was the highlight of the evening.
While not related to the restaurant, the $28.00 valet fee is ridiculous. Seems very poor service to have learned that a discount could have been applied with a validated restaurant receipt. My advice, spend your money elsewhere as there are a dozen much better restaurants with 5 miles in either direction.
Beautiful outside dining. Edamame and pasta dishes below average but sushi good. Would not choose to dine there again
I had dinner twice now and both times was very poor atmosphere and tonight’s meal took around 1 hour and by he time we left the Restuant was empty
The kitchen was very slow yet Il Mulino is fantastic. Makes no sense
The staff was far too inexperienced for the type of restaurant they proclaimed to be. Wine list is ok but not a lot of selection and very overpriced. Food arrived at different times and by the time the wine came, we were half way through our entrees. Quality of food was very good but still over priced...even for a NY metro person. Beautiful property so I hope they get it pulled together.
Beautiful outdoor seating steps from the beach. The staff was super attentive and the food and cocktails were both delicious. Will definitely come back for a date night.
We frequent Aqualina hotel often and were excited to try their new concept.....unfortunately it failed. They need to decide if they are Il Mulino or something else. Everyone was confused, the wait staff mixing with Il Mulinos wait staff, the drink servers....it was a mess. Not to mention there are children running around like crazy, one group teenagers answered a FaceTime call during their meal and proceeded to speak, on FaceTime the entire time. Now, I realize there are both hotel and residences in this hotel....the residences treat that area like their living room. Not what I wanted to be around when I'm spending Il Mulino money and trying to enjoy a date night with my husband. We will definitely be back to Il Mulino but this restaurant needs to stick to brunch and being a hotel lobby. It was honestly offensive.
Evette was amazing!
Sitting outside a must if weather permits!
Kitchen was a little slow and not all food came out at once for a party of 8.. but Evette was fantastic and kept us updated and hydrated 😀😀
Very poor service
Nobody seemed to care
I love Il Mulino that is why I went for Valentine's Day. However, I would have preferred to have an a la carte menu than a Pre Fixe. At least if making a reservation through Open Table it should have been advertised so that users, like myself would have known.
Terrible service poor food quality just the place is ok for the decorations
