We expected a fantastic dinner based on recent top hotel awards and the reputation of the hotel. Unfortunately we were not impressed.
The outdoor dining area was lovely and it was a beautiful night to sit outside near the fountain with a view of the beach.
Our waiter was very nice but I’m sure he was happy once we left because I think he was tired of apologizing for all the problems that arose.
I ordered the filet and my husband ordered the bone in ribeye both to be cooked medium. They both came out well done. It took a while for our waiter to come check on us and we asked to send our steaks back. It takes a lot for me to send food back to the kitchen but these were totally over cooked.
Our waiter apologized and comped us an extra glass of wine which was a nice gesture while we waited for our food.
When our steaks came out again my husbands ribeye was cooked properly but my filet was still over cooked at probably a medium well done. The filet was tender but flavorless and the ribeye was totally average in quality. We have cooked better steaks at home in the grill.
We ordered two desserts. Chocolate gelato and chocolate mousse. After a very long wait our server brought out rocky road ice cream. They were apparently out of gelato. And the chocolate mousse was apparently all frozen. He offered to bring us a signature dessert from Il Mulino. That was the highlight of our dinner. It was ice cream with a hard chocolate shell.
He comped our desserts as well after all the mix ups.
I can’t fault our server but I really found it hard to believe a highly rated hotel like this would have such a bad restaurant.
I was looking forward to dining here for awhile from having experienced the original in NYC. While the service was outstanding, the food was good but fairly pedestrian. Tuna crudo appetizer had absolutely no flavor with exception of the sauce served around the plate. No capers as advertised and served with rock hard crostini. Crostini with tuna crudo? The burrata appetizer was standard fare and much better can be found in most Italian restaurants.
The seared tuna entre' was good but again, nothing special. My short rib ravioli was also good but better can be found in many places. Two notable things... the flash fried tiny leaves of sage served with the ravioli was a nice flavorful touch and the dulce de leche sorbet for dessert was the highlight of the evening.
While not related to the restaurant, the $28.00 valet fee is ridiculous. Seems very poor service to have learned that a discount could have been applied with a validated restaurant receipt. My advice, spend your money elsewhere as there are a dozen much better restaurants with 5 miles in either direction.
Beautiful outside dining. Edamame and pasta dishes below average but sushi good. Would not choose to dine there again
I had dinner twice now and both times was very poor atmosphere and tonight’s meal took around 1 hour and by he time we left the Restuant was empty
The kitchen was very slow yet Il Mulino is fantastic. Makes no sense
The staff was far too inexperienced for the type of restaurant they proclaimed to be. Wine list is ok but not a lot of selection and very overpriced. Food arrived at different times and by the time the wine came, we were half way through our entrees. Quality of food was very good but still over priced...even for a NY metro person. Beautiful property so I hope they get it pulled together.
Beautiful outdoor seating steps from the beach. The staff was super attentive and the food and cocktails were both delicious. Will definitely come back for a date night.
We frequent Aqualina hotel often and were excited to try their new concept.....unfortunately it failed. They need to decide if they are Il Mulino or something else. Everyone was confused, the wait staff mixing with Il Mulinos wait staff, the drink servers....it was a mess. Not to mention there are children running around like crazy, one group teenagers answered a FaceTime call during their meal and proceeded to speak, on FaceTime the entire time. Now, I realize there are both hotel and residences in this hotel....the residences treat that area like their living room. Not what I wanted to be around when I'm spending Il Mulino money and trying to enjoy a date night with my husband. We will definitely be back to Il Mulino but this restaurant needs to stick to brunch and being a hotel lobby. It was honestly offensive.
Evette was amazing!
Sitting outside a must if weather permits!
Kitchen was a little slow and not all food came out at once for a party of 8.. but Evette was fantastic and kept us updated and hydrated 😀😀
Very poor service
Nobody seemed to care
I love Il Mulino that is why I went for Valentine's Day. However, I would have preferred to have an a la carte menu than a Pre Fixe. At least if making a reservation through Open Table it should have been advertised so that users, like myself would have known.
Terrible service poor food quality just the place is ok for the decorations
Great evening at the AQ. Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
We had dined many times as AQ last year. The food and service is excellent. We were disappointed that outdoor dining is now limited to a few tables under a canopy, rather than in the open air space. Our only complaint is that valet parking charge is now &13 with restaurant validation, when previously it had been $8 with validation.
Sushi was excellent
Worst experience ever. Email me for more info. I put notes inside the optional field category. I don't want to even remember how it felt
We have been several times. This time are outside as it was a beautiful evening. Our table overlooked the pool and the ocean. Services was excellent. We had a sea food platter followed by steak. Beautifully presented and cooked.
Good but it said they had kids menus but didn't.
We had an amazing dinner outside right by the ocean. Our waiter was very attentive and brought us a complimentary dessert of flourless chocolate cake, tiramisu, and ricotta pie. Perfect dinner. Highly recommended
Excellent food and service. Really grate place to eat.
Less than average rating . My seafood tower came out warm (not cold ). The risotto was overly salty . The place should replace their name to something other than the highend chain that is associated with that brand. Nothing high-end about that place other than the prices . Never again.
Really disappointing meal. The only salvation was the great service and the tiramisu. All the food was lukewarm. There were about 8 tiny mussels, the salmon was a dry hunk with an unappealing crust, there was no wine available for under $75/bottle and this is a Casual restaurant. Oh, my son loved his burger but it doesn't merit suffering through the other food which was a complete disappointment. It was so unmemorable I can't remember it two days later.
We went for my wife's birthday and will never forget the experience. The food was exquisite, the best taste experience we have had and the service was excellent from being greeted upon arrival and during the meal itself.
I ordered salmon and asked for it to be moist/medium cooked and it was dry! My husband's chicken paillard was tasteless! The food was very disappointing! The wine was awesome!
After dining at Il Mulino's, we decided to give AQ a try. The food and service was impeccable. The view of the ocean was amazing. I had the Hamachi with Jalapenos and a salmon avocado hand-roll with Eel sauce. They were fresh and delicious. They also offer the same fresh home made tiramisu and fresh home made whip cream, but I opted for the vanilla ice cream which was really good. I would definitely come back next time I'm in town.
Quite a nice restaurant when we stayed at the Acqualina resort. Food was delicious.
The ambiance was great, even though I was looking forward to the Veranda and couldn't sit there as it was going to rain. I wish portions were slightly more - one individual had the fish and I had the gnocchi pasta.
The lobster entree was salty and inedible largely because it was over salted. My date would
Not eat it. The broccoli I ordered was mostly brocollini and undercooked stalks. No compensation or replacement was offered. My fish was undercooked. Great service for bad food. Way overrated for a $300 dinner for two.
Anything and everything.
Beautiful outdoor restaurant but very limited menu
Above and beyond expectations in every aspect. Service, ambiance and food is on point!
I dined at AQ in a party of 3. Two of us were happy with our entrees (steak, pasta) but my other friend sent back her salmon which tasted a bit burnt. The server offered her another entree which she accepted but then it took quite a long time to bring it, so we'd already finished. Overall, it was a good meal (and good wine), but they need to work on consistency.
Great meal with great service they just need to work on the table lighting, besides that small point everything was awesome!
First, I must commend AQ on the great improvement since I was here last year! The food and service have improved tremendously. They first brought out the same lovely bread choices as Il Mulino - what a treat! We began with Sushi and Edamame. We had the Cream Cheese and Salmon roll which was delicious. The Edamame was fine, although a little soft and under salted. My daughter had the Cheeseburger which was delicious and I had the Porcini Mushroom filled gnocchi served with Truffle Butter and Sage - the sauce was delicious and gave a lovely flavor to the gnocchi. As the restaurant became crowded, it seemed as though the servers from Il Mulino helped out so they were able to still provide excellent service. Our waiter even brought us a lovely Flan to share which was outstanding - still dreaming about it! Thank you Aqualina for the great improvement to AQ!
Food, service, and ambiance were excellent. There was a boisterous party outside, as well as a smoker who came after we were seated. The staff kindly moved us inside. A mixed drink served up too sweet was quickly replaced at no extra cost. Desserts were tasty as well. All very nice.
I do have an issue with some very sneaky special pricing. Looking over the menu, appetizers average around $15, and entrees around $20-25, $32 tops. I ordered a mozzarella/tomato app, and some fresh pasta with chorizo- both unlisted specials. No price information was provided, but who would think to ask regarding such pedestrian dishes? The bill came and was much higher than expected. I looked at the itemization. The cheese/tomato salad was $25, and the pasta special was $49! This looked like a scam to me. I suspect most diners at this hotel don't even look at the bill, but pricing incongruity like this represents gouging, and that is simply unacceptable. The manager kindly reduced the entree price to $25. I didn't push him on the app.
Our overall experience was good, but I would encourage anyone dining there to question pricing on specials. Value matters, and the management will probably keep running this scam as long as they can get away with it.
Beautiful place, interesting dishes
Service is ok-many inquiries if we needed anything but asked for lemon in water and never received, salad was described as having feta cheese but came without cheese.
Would go back but expected an impeccable service and did not really get that.
The food & service was spectacular! Only thing I may add is, the food didn't fill me up i almost ordered double everything lol
The location is nice and during the day the view would be beautiful. Three of us got the exact same dish: the steak and octopus for starter. The octopus was fine but we all three asked for the steak to be cooked medium. Two of us had the meat come bad rare. On the side of the steak was a muffin like thing that was supposed to be served at room temperature. Mine was cold as if it was in the refrigerator. Our waitress was nice and helpful to get everything taken care of. It was Friday night when we went around 9 pm and there were only three other tables filled. We were confused as to when people dine there.
We had a mixed table with à la carte dining and some trying the spice menu. The salmon was very good however the upgrade of filet mignon was pretty bad. We also had two people trying a la carte steaks and it was not good. The truffle fries were the hit of the night. We were not very impressed.
Beautiful place to treat yourself to a high end dinner. Very friendly and attentive staff will offer you a scarf if it is too cold for you to fully enjoy your dinner, waitress will listen to your preferences and recommend something you will truly enjoy.
Will definitely come back when we will visit Miami again.
P.S. Make a special request for outside sitting for dinner. The beachside tables provide a beautiful view at sunset.
