Celebrating its 118th Year, Barbetta is the oldest restaurant in New York still owned by its founding family. Barbetta is also New York's oldest Italian restaurant and the oldest restaurant in the Theater District. This three-fold distinction has earned it landmark status by the Locali Storici d'Italia. In a glittering interior decorated with 18th century Italian antiques Barbetta serves the cuisine of Piemonte, Italy's northwestern most region. In summer, its exuberantly verdant garden with century-old trees and scented with the blooms of wisteria, oleander, jasmine and gardenia make it a most sought-after site for al fresco dining.

                                The restaurant was extremely hot. We asked why and the front host said “the front entrance doors open and close often and lets in the hot air”. We were visibly sweating and fanning ourselves with menus as were several other tables. Overheard a guest at another table ask why it was so hot and their SERVER said “our air conditioning is broken.” Being told an “untruth” in addition to the service and food was not up to par, we definitely would not choose to return on our next trip to New York City.

                                One of the best places I have ever visited and enjoyed. Everyone on staff from hostess to gentlemen who refill your water glass were professional and made you feel warm and comfortable. Ramon our waiter was outstanding.

                                we eat here every time we visit NY. the food is excellent and the service is exceptional. perfect for pre-theatre and they offer a special prix fixed meal. We highly recommend!

                                This experience cannot be beat, especially when you're looking for a pre-theater meal in the warm weather months. While it's wonderful year-round, the outdoor garden is definitely one of the nicest garden dining experiences in NYC. The Piedmontese cuisine is distinctive among the many Italian restaurants in NY. Great food, very professional service, good value - an excellent experience.
