Apple Farm Restaurant
I usually enjoy the uniqueness of Apple Farm’s restaurant, but I was a little disappointed this time. Since it was Valentine’s Day, I made a reservation in advance. But when we arrived they couldn’t find the reservation. We ended up waiting quite a while to be seated. The server forgot to bring my husband’s salad before his meal, and his steak was overcooked. I let Open Table know that there was a problem with our reservation, but strangely enough Apple Farm had verified seating us, so who knows what happened.
This is a very quaint, bustling restaurant. Great food. Large portions. Great value. Our server was Savannah and she an excellent job. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants fresh, homemade food for a great price.
A bit expensive for breakfast.
Wonderful once again
We've been driving/passing by this place for years. Good food and bake goods. Didn't have a chance to stay there....but it looks really nice on the outside. Great ambiance...
Apple Farm has everything to be a top tier restaurant but they need to hone their methods a bit. Service was good but I felt a bit rushed. Nothing severe but asking if I want a box for left overs before I’m halfway through a pork chop... the food was good but not remarkable.
Hostess placed our party in dining room with 2 very large groups of people. Very loud. In retrospect, I should of requested a change of rooms. Lunch menu I felt was not very extensive and pricey. I ordered Chinese Chicken Salad. VERY small amount of chicken. Mostly lettuce, wonton strips and mandarin oranges. Not what I’d expect for $16.00 salad. We will not return. We used to go to this restaurant many years ago and it was great. Very disappointed
I really enjoyed the delicious home-style food. The staff were helpful and friendly. I will definitely come back again.
We had meatloaf and pork chop. The mashed potatoes had little flavor and no seasoning that I could tell. Gravy was not a good flavor and mild. Meatloaf was mush and flavorless, couldn't stomach it. Yes, that bad, left almost all of it on the plate. Veggies served with the meatloaf were over cooked and lacked consistency, flavor was also bland. The pork chop had a nice flavor but was over cooked (a bit tough, but good near the bone). The bread was fine but ordinary. The mushroom soup was just OK. The corn chowder was more like a pudding, also just OK flavor. The sides that came with the chop were the only good and somewhat imaginative part of the dinner.
This would be mediocre cafeteria food, but, totally unacceptable for a moderate to higher price restaurant. Would avoid, even though the atmosphere is nice.
We went to the Apple Farm for breakfast with our granddaughter and her parents. This is a perfect location as they have a menu to suit all tastes. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. They had crayons for the baby and we didn't feel rushed. We made a reservation because it can get quite busy -- and they have delicious baked goods too!! I had the pecan and raisin scone with breakfast and my husband had the blueberry muffin. Both great!
I wasn't happy with the food or service?.........................................................Dhdjdbdjd
Our original reservation for four diners was changed last minute to 5. They added a chair to the end of the booth table... way too little leg room for 5 adults.
Our food server was energetic and engaging.
The prepared food quality was average. One meal, a pulled pork sandwich, tasted poorly and only partly consumed.
The apple crisp and pie a la mode were tasty. Serving sizes very generous.
To summarize, the entree food quality was at best average, with one menu item being unacceptable. Service was great.
Only 3 stars, as there are many other restaurants to choose from in SLO, with better quality food items.
Was great but the circle room is super loud!
I love how charming Apple Farm is during Christmas holiday - like stepping into 1940’s - but was surprised by how empty it was at 2 pm. Burger and potato pancakes great. Corn chowder was paste - not edible. Turkey pot pie dry.
I love to stop there while driving thru San Luis Obispo.
New Year’s Day with Family
Consistently good breakfasts.
Met our daughter and her husband along with another couple to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Made our reservation a few days in advance. They got us right in. The staff was very friendly and nice, the food was excellent. Perfect!
Love the menu items available here. Among the best pancakes I've ever had.
This place used to be a lot better. There were not that many people there for dinner (like only 3 tables) and we were greeted with "I hope you're not in a hurry!" It took a ridiculous amount of time to get food and our bill and things kept coming out wrong. Not horrible but not great. We probably won't go back. :(
Dinner and the service was fantastic! So much to see also.
My server made the entire experience pleasant and enjoyable. She was attentive without hovering and I never felt neglected. I didn't get her name but I overheard her explain to another diner that it was Russian.
The food was good, no complaints there.
We snuck off to enjoy Christmas without family drama. Apple Farm provided the perfect Christmas dinner. Each dish came before I thought to ask. Wine perfect temperature. Meal with more than enough food for each of us. Of concern to me was that the waitress had no idea there were mushrooms in the vegetables. I am allergic to mushrooms - I mentioned and questioned prior to the food coming. Thankfully I saw the mushroom on my husband's plate and found the two hidden on my plate in the vegetables. Because the menu did not say mushroom in description - the server had no idea. In this day and time I'm happy'm happ Apple Farm kept the wonderful Christmas spirit - but please consider some sort of allergy list for your servers as a safety measure in the future. Thank you! We did enjoy our time there.
Service was mediocre and unfortunately common for SLO. Five out of six meals came out initially. My nearly empty salad plate sat next to me throughout dinner and I had to ration my water as the server never came back until dinner was done to offer boxes, not to ask how we were doing or if anything else was needed. This could have been Denny’s. The menu has changed over the years, not necessarily for the better. A couple of old favorites are missing. Like many other places in the area, seems there is enough tourist traffic that they do not have to care or try to excel at what we walked into the restaurant for and what they are supposed to be serving - a good meal with good service.
The food was fantastic, especially the pork chops. The idea to have a hidden elf that you are searching for in the gift shops is clever and entertaining for kids.
Harvest Melt was awesome!
They could not get my order right. Ordered bacon and eggs, with the eggs cooked over-hard. I received over-easy eggs twice. Was not interested in a third attempt. Waitress was nice, and I was not charged for my meal. Not a great breakfast experience.
This a beautiful place for Christmas! Great decor and we got to see Santa too!
The food is fantastic! There is plenty of it so bring your appetite! We had THE best chocolate chip pancakes of my whole life!!!! Sausage and apple sauce great too. Worth the visit if in SLO!!
Wife's potato pancakes did not taste good and were burnt. She didn't and couldn't eat them. Wait person didn't inquire why she didn't eat anything.
Our table was not ready upon arrival, took 20 minutes to setup. Food took almost 40 minutes. Our server was delightful.
Great place to have a Sunday breakfast. Always good hot food and friendly service.
We went there for Xmas dinner last year and it was good. This year for Thanksgiving party of 8 not so good.
The waitress was doing her best, they didn’t have a bus person to clear away the dinner plates she was about to serve deserts with our dinner plates still on the table. Our food was barely warm more on the cool side the worst part of the whole thing was all our plates the whole table were grossly dirty its as if they just scraped the food off and reused the plates and there were greasy fingerprints all over the edges and there was food all over the edges. Me and the rest of the family picked at our food, we were afraid to eat off of them. We couldn’t send all the food back so we dealt with it and didn’t finish our plates. I don’t know what the deal was with that it was really gross. Don’t think I’ll be eating there again. They need to find better help I think.
The Turkey Thanksgiving dinner was very good - could have had a little more stuffing and they would charge extra for cream pie (pie came with the dinner) so I ordered Cherry and said they didn't have it and then saw Cherry in the pie case for sale
Booth for 2 was claustrophobic and couldn't move lamp because it was glued to table but all in all it was a good experience
The omelet was very small for the price and potatoes undercooked. The waffle was lack luster for 14 bucks. Service was rather impersonal and in fact they messed up one of our orders and brought our appetizer half way through main course.
Great - simple food
We had nine people so I guess that could be why we received our food about 30 min after we ordered. Food was great, service great. It was very hard to hear our conversation because of all the noise in the room.
Apple Farm's french toast is my favorite. I occasionally drive in from Morro Bay just to enjoy the french toast. The service is almost always excellent. I've been a fan of AF for decades. It is a great place to take friends from out of town, especially since downtown is becoming increasingly unattractive to visit.
We used the open table app to book a reservation but when we got to the host station they said it would be a 45 minute wait and didn't know how we got the reservation. They did not seem to know how to manage the open table app. Weird they were telling everyone a 45 minute wait but there were open tables. I didn/t complain too much because we did get a table 15 minutes after arriving. The place was busy but their gift shop items could only be purchased at the lower counter... when I asked why the bakery cashier could not ring up the jam, they replied they didn't have a scanner at that register. Ok but the lower register was taking forever; I had to leave the preserves or forfeit my table (no the cashier with
the restuarant can't ring it up as well). After the meal I forgot and didn't want to wait again to puchase a small jar of preserves. They seem inexperienced and not completely service-oriented. You have to really want to eat here since there are better places to try.
I'll come back for sure. Everything was good, the baked goods were even better. Nice gift shop and to-go bakery area.
Very dated. Reminded me of Marie Callender's. Clean, Friendly and helpful staff offsets the lack of atmosphere or excellence in food quality and presentation. If you want a comfortable feeling old school restaurant, this will serve the purpose well. Just not my style.
Service was friendly and attentive. Family style dining room with booths and outdoor dining. Old fashioned comfort food. Cocktails were traditional and well done.
