I made the reservation for 7ppl on OpenTable website. And I event got an email confirmation the day before. When we arrive the hostess said they do not have the reservation. When I showed her my email confirmation from Open Table she said "Open Table does work for us". Huh??? Thankfully they still was able to seat my party of 7. However, our waitress was very cold and detached. I ordered coffee that just never came. There are so many other restaurants that offer better food and service. I will not return to this place.
This was not too far from Radio City Music Hall - 10 minute walk. We go every year to the show and like to have lunch right after the show. This was very convenient. Food was good. Nice atmosphere. We will have to try the pizza next time.
Great pizza, great service, nice crowd. It was a little noisy, otherwise a great meal!
Maybe we hit this spot on an off day. Not sure why the rating is so high.
It was raining outside, so we stepped in 8 minutes before our 11:30am reservation to be told we couldn't stand inside because they weren't yet open. When I asked if they wanted us to wait in the rain, the hostess said, "I guess you can stand in the bar area."
Once we were sat, the service went up from there, but it wasn't friendly or engaging. Margherita pizza was delicious, but way overpriced for what it was. We were the only people there for the first half an hour or so, but waited for drinks to be refilled and food took a long time.
We'll spend our money elsewhere next time we're in NYC.
The service was lacking. The restaurant was not overly packed yet it took forever and the server had a hard time with my allergy. Overall we like the restaurant and will continue to go back but it wasn't a pleasant experience.
Very poor pizza. Not sure why this place is so highly rated.
Overall a great experience as usual. A bit pricey but worth a little extra.
My wife and I had a lovely relaxed al fresco evening meal at Aperitivo. We shared a small buffalo pie and Nutella pizza that we couldn't finish, although a couple with a hearty appetite could probably share a large pie with no other courses.
The pizza was excellent, service attentive but not over the top and sitting outside was great - far enough away from the road to afford easy conversation and with the bonus of great views of the city around you.
Recommend the thin crust pizza. We ordered a large and small Margharita pizza. Consider the large pricey at $27. Reasonable price beer. Great for outdoor seating.
AperTivo was located across the street from our hotel. We ate an early dinner so the restaurant was very quiet. The wait staff was attentive and the food was quite good with the exception of the chocolate lava cake.
Aperitivo (TiVo to locals) is a local eatery that is good for an affordable lunch or dinner, kid friendly with a reasonable selection of affordable beer and wine options. The pizza is excellent and the portions are ample. Be sure to ask the waiter for a lightly baked crust unless you prefer a cracker- like crust. There is inside and outside seating. If the weather is nice opt for outside as the activity on the corner venue offers a great people-watching opportunity.
Very good food. But we went during lunch and it was a mad house which basically caused everything to come out super late, we waited more tan 35 mins for appetizer. Once the food arrived tho it was very good. I would go back there, in a time not as busy as lunch.
Tivo's has been a favorite for a number of years now. Their personal Margherita pizza is noted as one of the best. I have not had a dish there I have not liked. My wife and I go every so often, and always share a Caesar salad to start, or she will have the soup. Their Eggplant Parm is amazing, and I also have to mention their Lasagna (made with Béchamel, not Ricotta). The music can get a bit loud in the evening, as they have a bar in the front of the restaurant, but if you go early, you can avoid the bar crowd. They have outdoor seating, which is far enough away from the road to be enjoyable. Year-round solid choice for a nice evening out with a date, family, or friends.
The pizza was excellent and so the service. The small tables for two are tight but overall we were pleased.
This restaurant was listed as a top place to eat pizza on Four Square, and I believe Rachel Ray ate here for one of her shows, so we decided to give it a try. It has a cute outdoor area, which we were able to enjoy. The meatball appetizer was reallllly good, as was the bread and the AperiTivo Pizza. We substituted blue cheese for goat cheese b/c of an allergy. The server wasn't really happy about it, but she's not eating it. She kind of had an attitude all night and wasn't extremely attentive, but it was fine.
Definitely a cute spot for after work, drinks or groups. Very casual too and not expensive.
We have lunch here very often. The service varies but the food is excellent.
Delicious New York pizza!!! We come every time we are in Manhattan to enjoy the thin crust pizza and chianti!!
Food was delicious, kids were able to get a simple dish of pasta with sauce or butter.
Decent food, service wasn't the best. Wouldn't visit again or recommend.
Nice casual place for pizza. We ate on lower level, not noisy and able to have conversation. During summer has outdoor seating.
group (10) for lunch in NYC....not an easy task. These guys did a great job. Service was great, drinks were wonderfull (cosmos were perfect), and the food was on point.
Food was great! From the pasta, to the salad to their PIZZA! But my sister ordered the Argula Salad...not the same as the Baby Arugula Salad...so they did get a wrong. The waiter didn't even understand the difference at first but why have something so similar on the menu. Besides that food was great!
On a date before a concert, my wife and I looked for something with pizza but not just a corner pizza take out joint. This place meets all the requirements; nice décor, good music and service and meatballs to die for. Only wished it was summer since they have a fine outdoor area we could not use. Wine list could be broader, but that is nitpicking since I am no wine expert
While the pizza was tasty the price point for the set up was not good... Wedging tables into spaces that cannot accommodate waiter access created a stressful visit... constantly worrying that a glass of wine would get knocked over while people tried to squeeze by your table. This is not pleasant and represents greed... With all the choices in this town it is not likely we will return.
Fair at best. Server was not friendly. No greeting, "just what do you want to drink. ". She wasn't rude, just quick with us.
We made a reservation and they sat us downstairs which was dark and covered in first birthday decorations. We were confused about why they were playing club music during dinner and why a personal pizza would be over 25 dollars. Our server was sweet and attentive, which saved the entire experience. The food we got (chicken parm and gemelli pasta) was good, but nothing to go back for. However, we didn't try the expensive pizza.
I have now been to Aperitivo 3 times in the last 5 months & always been happy with it..
My only complaint this time was that because they had a holiday party on the main floor, all other diners were on the lower level ( which was fine, service was still very good) ..However, the music from the party was so loud at various points in the evening ( I got there @ 5:45 & left @ 9:30) that it was almost impossible to think, let alone talk to your dinner companions!
I reserved for lunch on Sunday afternoon for 10 people to celebrate my daughter's birthday in the city. We love the restaurant decor and they gave us a great more private spot upstairs. We were well attended by their staff and food was great. Great midtown location! We plan to go back again.
It's a pretty solid casual dining option in midtown east with a very affordable menu. The food is pretty good for the price point and the interior is well decorated so it has a nice fancier vibe compared to your average pizza restaurant.
Had a salad and pizza - both very good. Tried to get the check but the staff were together looking at something on one of their phones. Had to get up and interrupt them.
Your average Italian place conveniently located near Grand Central. Was a good place for a long chat with an old friend. Didn't feel rushed, and enjoyed the food.
Great family pizza spot. Friendly staff. Good food. Have visited a few times. Great for adults and kids.
It was too expensive for pizza
Aperitvo Pizza was very unique but way too sweet. The fig compote was overwhelming but the service and wine was great.
I came here to catch up with some friends. The service was great, the food was great and I highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was very good as was the atmosphere. The service was excellent and friendly.
Bar scene was lively bur thinned out quickly after work
Great Pizza and service
We were staying the night in NYC at a nearby hotel, so we chose somewhere nearby and just walked into this place! It was relatively empty because it was pretty late at night but the service and food were excellent! We got the fettuccine carbonara and the buffalo pizza. The pasta was excellent but the pizza was UNBELIEVABLE. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area!
We had an enjoyable experience. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Out table was outside under the umbrella, very comfortable and fun to people watch.
Try the calamari and it's even better when you are enjoying the fantastic street views of the area.
