What Insiders Are Saying
A.O.C. in Beverly Grove is fancy and sexy and serves top-notch French food as well. Your sex life can thank us later.
Very pleasant evening! Nothing to critique as the food, service and ambiance were all solid.
Love that they don't have music blaring, or even playing and you can talk with friends...
Excellent meal and atmosphere. The clams and the Spanish fried chicken were two favorites. Will visit again next time we are back in the city.
AOC was the perfect way to end a relaxing spa day in LA. Food was excellent. Several servers took care of our needs. All were willing to answer questions and offer suggestions. Definitely one of my favorite places!
AOC made me sad. So sad to see so much potential wasted.
Had an amazing dinner here last weekend. They put us on the second floor dining room which was more intimate and less noisy than the patio and first floor dining room. The food was delicious. They also "comped" one dish that came a little late, though we did not notice or complained about it. They also gave us free desserts afterwards!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience at AOC. The ambiance, décor and general warmth within the restaurant is pretty spectacular. The service we received too, was, all-in-all, pretty great (we were sat immediately, were served water frequently, etc.). That said, the restaurant wad really crowded when we arrived and were sat down, so our waitress seemed a little flustered and when we ultimately waived her down because we wanted her to take our order, she told us she was "a little busy." We also were super confused when we had to wait for over 25 minutes for our desserts, none of which was baked a la minute - it should have all come out within 10-15 minutes at most and it didn't - with no explanation or apology as to what caused the delay. We enjoyed all of our food, but for the price, none of it wowed us. I'd go back again for a drink in a cozy setting, but probably not for dinner.
The food and wine selections here are top-botch. I appreciated all of the clean, fresh ingredients and detailed information including biodynamic and sustainable call outs. Plus the atmosphere is IG heaven.
Great atmosphere and beautiful setting. Food was delicious. I recommend the bacon wrapped dates and the chicken and waffles.
If you want to sit outside somewhere in LA that still feels like you are inside this could be a cute spot. The waitress we had was rude/off. Something wasn't clicking. But the food was ok. It's a sharing plates concept, which obviously needs no explanation but people love to pretend they invented it. Definitely order things to share and things for yourself. It was fine but I wouldn't go back every time I visit LA.
AOC was wonderful. Our server provided us with great recommendations!
We had the BEST service we have ever had! Our server was attentive and very sweet! She made our Valentine’s Day even more perfect.
I love the food. Service was excellent. But would love it more, if the noise was damped down.
AOC is always an excellent choice for lunch. I love the Farmers’ Plate with grilled vegetables, toast, spreads and burrata. My husband loves the turkey focaccia sandwhich. We tried a wonderful lemon tart with pomegranate. The waitstaff is always friendly and helpful and the ambience is cozy and welcoming. A great place to eat.
there was a very big party at the restaurant, so the service was a little spotty. the server was very nice, but was super busy!
the food was delicious, all courses!
the hostess was a bit unwelcoming, and was snippy about seating us, away from the big party.
I made a reservation on the earlier side - 5pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was mostly empty at that time so we got to sit right in front of the fire place which was very romantic! It started to fill up more towards the end of the meal but I could hear my date through the whole meal- which is hard to achieve in some noisy LA restaurants.
The food was exquisite- definitely try an array of dishes. The salad we had was superb.
Basically, everything you could want from a brunch. Cozy space, moderate noise level, excellent food, particularly the perfect chicken and waffles. The frisbee on my brioch sandwich was over-dressed, but then again, so was I
Food was delicious. Servers with a little attitude
Our server Sage was incredible! We were celebrating a birthday and upcoming wedding and had the loveliest time with him - the Wrights
I would give service 5 stars for the waitress but the hostess was visibly in a bad mood upon arrival, sat us in the worst table in a virtually empty restaurant. Thankfully the waitress offered to seat us elsewhere, well deserved her gratuity.
Friday night reso for 10:15 pm as our choices were either 6 or 10:15 pm. The hostess greeted us quickly upon arriving at 10:15. She offered to seat us right away or invited us to have a drink at the bar before sitting, which made us feel unrushed. We chose to sit and were shortly greated by our server who poured us water and briefly described the restaurant, however he never introduced himself or stated he was our server. It was my first time here and my girlfriend's second. We shared this with him when he asked if we had been here before, however he never offered any suggestions or recommendations even with the knowledge that it was our first and second times here.
We were left alone for roughly 10 minutes until our server returned and asked if we were ready. I had my nose in the wine list and hadn't looked at the menu at all. I informed him we were not. He responded by saying "take your time". Upon his return my girlfriend ordered a cocktail and i followed suite with a cocktail. We informed him again we were still trying to make food decisions; again no offer of suggestions.
I think he came back a total of 4 or 5 times. At one point he told us the kitchen would be closing. This was roughly 10:45. Only 30 min after our reso time and 15 min after the last reservation available! So we ordered some food just to order.
Our server lacked any tact about interrupting us to get an order. At one point he just said are you ready to order and took out his pad & pen. Well we weren't ready. But he made us feel like we needed to be. And one point my girl and I got into a disagreement. Our server came over during this and simply said "sorry to interrupt would you like another a glass of wine?" to my girlfriend. I mean, c'mon!
The final straw was that the heatlamps were turned off while sitting there. I wrote a few of my frustrations on the check and then our server came out to confront us as we were getting into a taxi! Prob wont be back again..PS we work work in F&B too!
My 65th birthday celebration. Seated upon arrival, attention immediately, server was delightful and informative, and dinner was fabulous. Must admit loved all my selections.
Service was superb. After the first question the entire staff almost anticipated our needs BEFORE we knew we wanted them.
The food and drinks were well seasoned.
Where we sat was quiet and we could hear each other - which was one of the reasons we were lunching together.
Fantastic meal, perfect for my birthday dinner. Will definitely dine here again.
Still going strong in the new space. Our meal was excellent from beginning to end and a.o.c. is still one of those great LA traditions where you can still speak to your diner partner without screaming and where you can come and go from your table without a cheeks (the wrong ones) to lips experience with the couple at the next table.
Our waiter diplomatically corrected our original wine choices and did a first rate job pairing wines with our foods course by course
The ambiance is so cozy, and the service is absolutely top notch! Their almond milk latte was amazing, but the burger was just okay. It was actually pretty dry, and it was recommended as one of their better items. I was there for lunch so i'm curious to see if their brunch or dinner is better. The fries were amazing though! Very fluffy and crispy on the outside.
Always enjoy time and meals at AOC.
Great to be here with a group so you can taste even more of the delicious dishes.
Highly recommend AOC and am currently in love with the Farro.
We sat on the patio on the evening of the Super Bowl. Therefore we lucked out as the noise level was low. Our server, Jeff, was absolutely great. He was attentive, thoughtful and the food came out at exactly the right tempo. Congratulations to the kitchen. We started off with the pate which was rich, soft and delicious. It was served with a salad and hunks of toasted, buttered French bread. This was followed by a salad of blood oranges, prosciutto, pistachios and pecorino cheese. Then came clams, lamb chops, And a pomegranate tart. Interesting, amazing flavors without being precious or weird. A lovely meal and a delightful evening.
Brunch on the patio was wonderful. The first restaurant in LA that I have been to that has Paul Bara on their wine/sparkling list. Wish they had some Bouzy Rouge.
Cocktails were excellent.
Food was great.
Spanish fried chicken and waffle - shared
Chickpeas, kale and an egg.
Brioche, gruyere, prosciutto, frisée and an egg - took half home
Bacon wrapped dates - yum
Bring Your Lint Roller. Ambiance, food, service were very very good. Two thinks that A.O.C could do to make it even better would be to invest in better lap napkins so your not full of lint at the end of your meal and also to have the food "hot".
Wine stored and served too warm.
Celebrated my husbands birthday. The staff was very accommodating and friendly delivering great service! Very comfy cozy ambiance with 2 fireplaces. Nothing fancy, just homey and comfortable. Delicious brunch - Vanilla bean french toast and Gruyère brioche with frisée, prosciutto and sunny side egg were excellent!
Just as solid as always. Sit in front of the fire - great ambience.
We were visiting LA for a day and were so happy to find AOC for dinner. The food is fantastic. There is freshness and unpretentious wholesome cooking. I love the layering of tastes yet never overpowering. We loved the clams so much that we had to ask for more bread to soak up all the sauces. We also love the setting. We sat in the section that was probably a courtyard. It felt like being in Europe.
Wonderful atmosphere and have had several very good meals here but this time I took co-workers and was very disappointed in the quality of the food. We ordered 8 dishes to share and each one was as disappointing as the other including the brioche which has been a consistent mainstay. This time the bread was dry and the egg on top was overcooked.
We hadn't been in years, and loved the new interior design. We sat in the "outside" area and it was very comfortable. Easy to have a conversation. Our favorite dish was the oven roasted clams. Everything about it was perfect. Moist, tender, amazing broth, served with toasted sourdough bread. A minus would be the focaccia. Kind of pricey, and basically an overpriced, slightly above average, baby pizza. The service was also great. Very attentive and friendly.
Lovely brunch menu with great cocktails
I brought my family from Taiwan and we booked 9:30pm with a baby in tow. The food and the service are great. The noise level was too loud for the baby however he slept most of the time. Very energetic place, good vibe, great ambiance, I’d definitely come back.
My wife and I had several items (fried chicken, cauliflower, persimmons & clams). The fried chicken was pretty greasy and I did not care for the spice. The cauliflower was overcharred. The clams were fine but tiny and not many of them. The toast with the clams was burnt. They brought us replacement toast. The persimmon salad was very nice as was the bottle of rose we had. The service was top notch too. But for the money, I think I will look elsewhere in the future.
