AOC Ratings and Reviews
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The waitstaff is so helpful, knowledgeble, and professional. My favorite lunch entree is a the turkey focaccia sandwich which is always delicious. For dessert I shared the pumpkin cake with icecream, pomegranates, and pepitas. The budino is also amazing. This restaurant is consistently good.
AOC was on our bucket lists, thus, my foodie friend and I finally decided to try it. Our original server was very helpful and attentive, but food was a disappointment. We chose Spanish fried chicken, scallops, sweet potatoes, farro with black rice and the ala carte bread to share. The Spanish fried chicken, really chicken tenders, was way overcooked and excessively oily. The dish was so overcooked that it was impossible to discern any of the spices or layers of flavor. My foodie friend remarked that it resembled burnt chicken mc nuggets for affluent adults. The yams were overly charred and the bacon was overcooked, hard and not of good quality. We did enjoy the scallops and the farro with black rice dishes. Perhaps, we dined on an off night. However, I doubt that we will be returning any time soon.
Met for an impromptu dining with friends after visit to a pt in Cedar's hospital. Service was attentive but not hovering. We ate mostly small vegetarian plates for sharing and some wines by the glass, nice selection. Food was delicious and outdoor patio beautiful and relaxing.
Love the patio at AOC. So lovely and relaxing. Great service too. My favorites are the Vintners lunch platter, and the Spanish fried chicken. My only complaint is that our reservation was at 2:00, and after arriving we learned they curtailed the brunch hours to end at 2:00 instead of 3:00, as before. The chicken had previously been available as a small plate, but was only listed as part of the brunch chicken and waffles. Disappointed not to have the chicken! Please add back into the small plates section without the waffles!
I love the food and wine list. However, I feel that for the price of some of the plates, the portion is a bit precious. The shared plates sizing is perfect for 2 people, but does not work for 4 people! Everything was delicious though...and such a great space!
The waiter was the best part of the evening. The Dine LA menu sounds great but the quality and timing of delivery was lacking. The lamb was like leather and full of gristle. The steak a bit salty and the fried chicken greasy. The wine menu is limited and pricey for the quality offered. I will not return.
My wife and I went there for the DineLA menu. For this evening, the DineLA menu offered a 4 course meal. For an additional $20/person, we had the option for wine pairing. I thought, "Wow. What a great deal." The food was very good and so were the portions. However, the wine pairing was not very impressive. I expected a different type of wine for each course, but was given a white and a red. They shouldn't call it wine pairing. It should be just two glasses of wine for $20.
I also noticed at the bottom of the menu the 3.5% surcharge for employee healthcare costs. Although I am an advocate for fair wages, I am against restaurants engaging in such tactics to avoid responsibility and pass the buck to their patrons. Why not just raise prices up front? The ambiance was nice and the food was good, but so are many other places that do not implement a 3.5% surcharge.
Very good overall, however, my party and I felt rushed. For the price, which comes with high quality food and ambiance, feeling rushed with constant questions about “Are you finished with that dish?” Is very unfortunate! We should be allowed to savor the food, have good conversation, and occupy the table as long as we wish!
