What Insiders Are Saying
A.O.C. in Beverly Grove is fancy and sexy and serves top-notch French food as well. Your sex life can thank us later.
We had a great meal and a great evening
Amazing food and ambience!
Nice restaurant. We really liked the heirloom tomato salad and the fried chicken. Portions are quite small, so several plates should be ordered. Nice waiters.
I had fond memories of AOC but I hadn’t been here in about a year and now the dishes are comically small. As a group of 5 it was recommended to order 7 dishes to share. Every single dish (apps and entrees) was served on a side plate and was too small to share between that many people.
It took a long time to get seated which was confusing since we had a reservation and the restaurant was empty. Menu was a little bit confusing, was unclear it was small plates until half way through the meal. That being said the food was really great, the restaurant was very cute and our server was wonderful.
Everything is so good ~
Great service, loved the small-plate dining experience, and very beautiful outdoor patio! Options for both meat-eaters and vegetarians
Four dear friends from out of town were visiting and they are all foodies. Wanted to take them to a restaurant that had delicious and varied options, including wines. We asked for patio seating, which we were given. Server was spectacular, friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. The food recommendations and choices were all uniquely delicious, from appetizers through dessert, as well as cocktails and wine. We all had one of the best evenings of food of our adult lives! And this is really not an exaggeration. Cannot wait to get back to AOC for another fun and memorable meal.
had a really great experience with our server Doug who highlighted a few exceptional menu items. He paced our wine service nicely to compliment the various courses. He was very easy to talk to and very relaxed which was nice after a long hard day at the office. We brought wine in and while we were walking to our table the gentleman behind the bar sparked up conversation which was pleasant as my best friend LOVES talking about and sharing wine. We were happy when he stepped away from the bar for a quick minute to come talk to us about wine. Overall our visit was perfect. There were 4 of us, all dining at the restaurant for the first time, and we'll certainly be back again. A big thank you to the staff that helped us out. Until next time
The atmosphere was beautiful. But, was a bit disappointing compared to the many dinners I’ve had there. I had the duck confit and it was dry and the egg on top over cooked. The cocktails were delicious though. Service left a bit to be desired. Waters were not filled and our server was hard to track down. It was a scorching hot day, so everyone, including our server, was probably not at their best.
There was a blinking light from across the street blinding us from our seat which we noticed and tried to bare for about 10 minutes; we asked the host to be reseated and she was very accommodating. The server made a mistake with sending one dish we did not order and forgetting to place another order; however they comp’d the unwanted item and brought our intended item in a sufficient amount of time. I enjoyed my experience; the food is always amazing. Though very pricey for the amount of food served; it was good and I feel I was treated very well.
A very good restaurant with excellent service that feels like what it is- solid second tier of the Lucques empire. Menu is mostly interesting; service is informed and excellent; wine list is solid and regional; whiskey list is extremely good, but it all still somehow feels unspectacular at this price point. A solid weeknight dining/drinking experience if you feel like spending $100-125/person- you will absolutely have a satisfying meal (though it may involve paying 15 bucks for Spanish chicken tenders). If you are looking for something truly special, however, you can probably do better for the money.
It is always the same: terrific menu, remarkably good food and excellent, attentive service.
AOC is great. We came here for a belated birthday dinner. We were seated outside on the patio area. It was super cute very European bistro like. It wasn't too loud either, but the atmosphere was still energetic. I was able to hear my fiance without having to yell across the table. The food was amazing. We ordered focaccia bread with swiss chard, summer squash gratin, spanish fried chicken, brioche and fingerling potatoes. The brioche with the sunny side up egg, frisee, prosciutto was by far the best dish of the evening. For dessert we had their butterscotch pot de creme and since it was a birthday celebration it came with out a candle, super cute! Our only hiccup was there were two servers assisting in the beginning. We weren't quite sure who was taking care of us, so the service was a little slow, but once our real server started to assist the service improved. We can't wait to come back.
Amazing food and drinks, waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Always a great meal, however, best to let guests know if the patio is booked for a private event.
Food very salty; chef needs to taste all ingredients separately and together, bean dish had different levels of salt per bean type plus black olives kicked up salt to mouth pucker lever.
Wine offering is very overpriced, but suppose market; should have some wine under 15$ glass, which is 200% markup mostly.
Noise is crazy load even outside.
Success bring challenges for why become beloved.
Service was not great. Food was delicious. hostess was not friendly
Food was great, service was excellent. Loved the venue, very charming and not too noisy. We’ll be going back for sure.
decent food, wonderful waiter (: didn’t get his name! love the ambiance and vibe of the place
The food, service & ambiance are slightly above average. What made them standout is the extra charge for the cost of their employee health expense. We didn’t mind the charge, but they added it prior to adding the taxes. Taxing the 3% health add-on charge is unreasonable.
I had high expectations for the food and it wasn’t up to par
So yummy. The fried chicken is everything!
My husbands nephew was visiting from San Francisco, and I wanted to take him to a high quality foodie destination in LA.
I dine regularly at Lucques, but read the article in LA Mag today about fried chicken, and the Spanish chicken and AOC sounded like a great option for dinner.
Unfortunately, the service was sub-standard.
We were seated at 7:30, and ordered 5 plates as suggested by our waiter. The first plate arrived within a reasonable time frame, but the Spanish Chicken dish took nearly 2 hours to arrive.
The food was good, but the service was painfully bad. We won't be returning to AOC anytime soon.
Super cute and charming with creative menu and cool atmosphere. One of my favorite places to go with friends.
Literally everything was delicious. A very special night!
I'm temporarily disabled and only semi-mobile, and AOC was helpful and solicitous so I could have an easy, enoyable night out.
Thank you for being so accommodating of my knee scooter! I saw how well the staff worked with a visitor in a wheel chair, too. Not everyone is so considerate, and those who are deserve recognition. AOC's staff is truly kind. The depth of my appreciation is very real. Thank you.
Have the cook book. Loved the real thing.
A wonderful Father's Day brunch - perfect ambiance and lovely food. Thank you!
This is usually one of our favorite spots in Los Angeles, but we were very disappointed in today’s visit. Yes, it was Father’s Day, but mediocre food and endless waiting doesn’t need to happen. The hostess was sour, the waiter was nice but not that attentive and the food (which is usually always fresh and tasty) was lukewarm, soggy, incorrect, and just bland. Not to mention what felt like an eternity after having a small appetizer of dates and toast, which were the best items we had at our meal. The men who bussed and served food were the only saving grace for this sad brunch we had for my husband. We might have to retire AOC from our usual dining roster for a bi, to get this disappointing experience out of our heads.
The food was cold especially the fried potatoes. My poached eggs were only warm and my bacon was way undercooked.
I’ve been there for dinner and have had great meals but I will not go again or recommend this place for breakfast.
We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for some time now. We fine dine quite often. This is a beautiful restaurant but we were disappointed with everything else. The food is good. The service wasn’t. The food really wasn’t good enough to make up for the poor service. I really don’t know why these servers are so snotty!? There are so many great restaurants out there with excellent food and excellent service so I wouldn’t bother recommending this restaurant or dining there again.
Wonderful fun food, tapas style. Sat outside in courtyard for dinner, ambiance was terrific. Very solid service, only minor drawback was a 20 minute lull between courses. Highly recommend!
Absolutely delicious as always. We had a 6:00 rez for four, and when we arrived asked if we could sit on the patio, which was pretty empty. We were told there was nothing avail: they were all requested. We had a nice view of the patio and watched a a bunch of 4-tops sit empty the entire time. As we left I mentioned it, which the hostess denied.
Left a bad taste in our mouths after a very tasty meal.
This place was honestly a bit of a letdown. Sure, it has a nice European-style courtyard (with a view of a pharmacy out of the window.) It seems technically elegant, but was nothing outstanding. The food choices were underwhelming, and the salads were so basic that you would find similar or better at casual places like TenderGreens or Lemonade (which obviously aren't comparable in atmos, but just talking about the food.) Servers were fine, but knew little about the menu without checking multiple times with others. And it was wayyyy overpriced for what you got. Better places to go in my opinion, especially if you are well-traveled, this may disappoint.
I would give 5 stars if not for the fact that I booked this place for my grandma's 80th birthday brunch and the whole time a waiter only came with water once. The food was quite salty (not always a bad thing) so water was NECESSARY. It also took a very long time for our server to come take orders and check in about our needs and the check.
Great spot in LA. Great drinks!! Food very good. Service outstanding. Our server for the evening was Sage. He is awesome!!! He made it very enjoyable!!
Everything he suggested was amazing!!
We love happy hour.
Everything was wonderful but before we had a chance to look at the menu we were asked if we’d like some almonds and olives, so assumed they were complementary but when we got the bill we were charged nine dollars and six dollars, respectively. Other than that the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I just wish it had been worded so that we knew that the almonds and olives were charged items,
The food was good but our server was very snobby. Food wasn’t as good as the price would suggest.
Always a great meal at AOC. Love their patio. Drinks are delicious. Fantastic service.
