lovely patio with good service. Recorded music is too loud, but good country French cuisine.
Good food and atmosphere. The tables by the bar are not as nice as the ones outside.
Racial bias in table seating
The food was outstanding, as expected from Goin’s team. Inventive, tasty, beautifully prepared. The service, less so. On a Monday night with a partially full house our waiter didn’t seem to be able to keep track of us. Very slow, and then our dishes came out in succession even though we made it clear in our ordering that we weren’t in the sharing mode. He didn’t tell us there would be 20 minutes between each dish, so that we ate one after another. Very annoying. The new space is attractive and has a good vibe. One could wish it were a bit quieter, like Lucques, but that’s the modern world. Overall, really good, but be prepared to ask that all be served at once, if that’s how you want to eat. Otherwise, the table will be sharing one small plate at a time.
AOC provides high-level comfort food. For breakfast, I ordered a hash, but this was unlike anything I had ever eaten under that name. And better. Same goes for the dinners, in my experience. When your food comes, you will be surprised--and reliably, pleasantly surprised. Reasonably interesting people-watching also.
From the moment we walked in it felt like we were in a great place. We were greeted with a small from the hostess, and even though we were 15 minutes early they sat us right away.
The server was very helpful, although not sure why we didn't get a decanter for our wine, but still she helped us out with ordering and made some fine suggestions.
Overall, a really good time.
As always, service and food were outstanding! We asked for a patio table and they were able to accommodate our request! The gnocchi was the biggest hit but everything we ordered was great. Our server also helped me select a lovely wine from their list! Looking forward to returning.
A great place for a lunch or dinner. Food excellent as are drinks. Outside dining on 3rd St doesn't get any better
Really like this place the two times we've gone. Every course was delicious. The Farmer's Plate of charred vegetables and hummus/cheeses is so good. The salad was excellent. We got the hanger steak (cooked to perfection with a rich sauce), the duck (also in a very nice sauce), and the fra diavlo shrimp which had this really good, funky cornbread pudding type of thing accenting it. Maybe the only disappointment was desert. The Butterscotch pudding is one of a kind, but the chocolate cake on the desert platter tasted a day old, as did all the other little confections that come on it. But still, a really great restaurant with a nice ambiance. Also, the specialty cocktails are really good here.
Came for lunch with my friends. You couldn’t get a more beautiful restaurant and the staff was amazing! The lunch menu is somewhat limited. You’re either getting a salad or a dinner type entree— so, if you don’t eat gluten and want more than lettuce, expect to pay $35+, without alcohol.
AOC continues to hold itself to the highest standards for service, food quality, and ambience. I fondly remember the old location and still love the "new" one. Our food was perfect, and the staff stood out especially for how they took care of us service wise. There is a reason the restaurant continues to succeed in this town of bright "flashes in the pan."
Service was first rate--greeting was authentically friendly, the waiter was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and attentive. The food was excellent on each item--it is just that with the "tasting menu" that the main courses (so to speak) were a little smaller than I had hoped. The portion of the halibut and beef cheeks being a little small is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 total stars. Salad was excellent and fine to share for two. The dessert of butterscotch pot de creme was delicious and the cookies that came with it made the dinner top rate. The physical place is lovely. The crowd was very happy at each table. I would definitely go back again knowing that it is a sizable investment.
The wine and decor were perfect!
The food was amazing!! The ambiance was perfect for me and my boyfriend’s 6 year anniversary. The portions are pretty small for the price but the flavor more than makes up for it. The service was great as well! Definitely recommend.
Best service in Los Angeles. Also best drinks, wine list, food.
As always, AOC is beautiful to look at with exceptional service and outstanding food, cocktails and wine.
First time there. My wife is vegetarian. I’m not too far off. A lot to choose from. Everything we had was good to better.
Loved it food was exquisite
Food was fantastic. Service was good.
Second time back to AOC on a trip from NJ. Will come back every time we’re in LA. Food and service are excellent. The room is beautiful. One of our favorites here!!!
I was here for valentines (2020). We sat down between two other tables. Those tables were inches away, there was little to no privacy.
Let me note I’m not from the area so I’m not sure of the restaurant trend.
The waitress provides my wife and I menus. My wife is upset because I’m not understanding what she’s explaining to me on the menu, but it comes that her and I have different menus. Although the food on the menus matched, her menu provided prices. We explain to the waitress that the menus were different. She takes them and walks away and returns with the “same menus”
Here’s the downfall, my wife quickly realized these are not the same menus, because now the prices are gone. We don’t bother asking for them back.
So here we are with menus with no prices, no set price per customer. Nothing explaining how my bill was $321.14 or how I can pick items wisely without going over board with the cost. Here’s the catch to all this.
The menus have 4 sections, each person must order 1 item from each section. Each item is about $28 to $35. So let’s say you get 4 items at $30 each, thats $120, but my bill arrived at $321.14 before tip.
Long story short, this place is expensive. The type of people that walk in here are wealthy. They probably wouldn’t care if you charged them $1000 for two people. I believe it was very unethical for them to take the menus and then return with menus with no prices. Now this may be common but I’m not familiar with that kind of service. It can come off as unethical. If you do visit stay at the bar area. I repeat stay at the bar area.
Overbooked and overcrowded. We were sat 30-45 minutes late and our server was nearly nonexistent due to the amount of tables he was tending to. The pre-set menu items came out at random and all dishes were extremely tiny aside from one. The supportive wait staff did their best to keep up with the overwhelming amount of people to be tended to, but often times we were finished with dishes and had to sit and stare at a stack of plates.
Extremely disappointed in what was delivered from start to finish.
Excellent Valentine’s Day dinner. Great service, food and wine!
The valentines prix fixe menu was an insulting overpriced. I have enjoyed AOC on multiple occasions and have thought the quality of food for the price is excellent. I was very much looking forward to the same for this special menu. For 115$ the portions were incredibly small for 3 portions and desert (also the food was very sub par compared to their usual incredible menu). I understand it is one of the most hectic nights for wait staff but we watched every person around us who sat after us leave a good half hour before it because we didn’t receive the check and no one came to our table for literally 45 + minutes. I have no desire to return after the food and service combination was so poor
Valentine’s Day dinner; was very disappointed for the price. Food was under seasoned and when we asked for salt we got two pepper grinders. Charging $115/plate denotes a certain confidence and quality that just didn’t materialize. Will not be going back again.
Great looking restaurant. The patio is lovely and cozy.
Always the best dining experience at AOC.
AMAZING service and even more incredible food !!
We came to AOC for a very special dinner to honor someone who had passed years ago. The atmosphere at the restaurant is lovely. The food is absolutely delicious. What made the evening so wonderful was the service. Every person at AOC was exceptionally warm and gracious to us. The bartender started the evening off perfectly. Our server could not have been more wonderful. The manager brought our wine to us, and she was just delightful. And the owner of the restaurant came over to us; she was equally wonderful. We will make AOC our restaurant-of-choice on the west side. It is an especially fabulous place. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Spanish Cod was overly salty and the potatoes ended up tasting very fishy, halibut was fantastic, farro was very good and the cauliflower decent.
Christian the Bartender is so wonderful!
This restaurant has a very beautiful set up. The tile, brick and covered patio provide a warm, inviting and beautiful setting. My friend and I ordered salads, and both of them were overly seasoned. We ate our salads because we were in a rush and starving.
Dinner with friends
It was my first time with my spouse and we enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Our server was Leah and she was friendly, attentive, patient, and very welcoming. I have recommended AOC to friends already.
As usual AOC is consistent in quality and service. The food always on point. We had the farmers plate, always a hit, Brussels sprouts amazing, the halibut ways great and the cod on creamy sauce and potatoes was out of this world. The server was ama omg, friendly and professional and the atmosphere couldn’t be better. I asked to be seated upstairs which is more intimate and beautiful cellar with a balcony overseeing the patio. Perfection perfection perfection!
To be honest I did not find AOC to be worth the price we spent on the dinner. The atmosphere there is really beautiful. The food however was very average
The perfect celebration meal. DineLA offer was an amazing value for the quality of food. The hanger steak was by far the most perfectly cooked and flavored I’ve ever had.
Food could have been more flavorful and spicier. Portions were large and service good. Overall disappointed in the taste of food as I had long looked forward to a meal there.
