Antonio's - Maitland - Upstairs Ratings and Reviews
Have dined here several times with excellent cuisine and wonderful, attentive service. This time the food was outstanding -- the yellowfin tuna specials the ladies ordered were exceptional. Large, perfectly prepared and very flavorful. My linguine with white clam sauce and my colleague's pasta Bolognese were terrific. The meal could not have been better. Although it was a Saturday evening and very crowded, our waiter did not skip a beat. He made sure everything was on time and he explained to the chef the dietary restrictions of one of our diners. One of Central Florida's best Italian/Continental dining establishments.
This was our first visit as we celebrated Valentines Day. We enjoyed the “upstairs “ experience from the very beginning. Our host seated us earlier than our reservation time. We were seated inside with a window view to the outside porch where other patrons were enjoying dinner and the outside scenic vistas. Our food was excellent and presented in a timely and efficient manner. Each serving was evenly spaced so we could enjoy a wonderful experience at our own pace. We truly felt special on this evening thanks to the terrific Antonio’s STAFF. Upon finishing dinner we chose to visit and shop in their downstairs grocery and cafe. Once again we were greeted by a very distinguished gentleman in a bow tie. He assisted us with a wealth of knowledge about the many excellent food choices and we were so impressed that we purchased several food items for home. We will certainly return in the the future and highly recommend ANTONIOS to anyone who would love a very special dinning out experience.
We had our anniversary dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. As usual, the table service was great and the food was terrific. As it was a Saturday night, the place was very busy so be prepared for a leisurely dinner. If you want a long peaceful evening, this is the place for you. Highly recommended for all occasions.
We were a table of eight with a reservation. When we arrive our table was waiting for us. We were immediately offered beverages and given water while we looked over the wine list. Several of us ordered cocktails and the rest ordered two bottles of wine to share.
We ordered four appetizers and sat back to enjoy a pleasant evening.
Our beverages came, and the appetizers came shortly there after. We then ordered our entrées. There were eight entrées and at least one side dish ordered. Then we waited.
We had lots of conversation going and then a waiter brought bread. Another round of cocktails and another bottle of wine was ordered at this point
After we all had some bread we realized it had been quite sometime since we ordered our entrées. Right about then somebody who looked like they might have been a manager approached our table and apologize for our entrées taking so long. He said our order got put behind a large order of people that were in their private room. That’s all he offered by way of explanation.
Then we waited some more.
Finally our dinners arrived. The waitress came around with Parmesan and that was pretty much the last time we saw her while we were eating. We all sat around with empty plates or portions that we wanted to pack up for quite some time. When she finally came back we were able to box up what we wanted to take home.
A few minutes later they came out with a birthday dessert for one of our friends. They never offered us dessert menus prior to this so the other seven of us were not able to order desserts to have with her. Thankfully the portion she received was large enough and they gave us eight spoons but we never got separate plates.
At that point we were just done. It was our intention to order desserts all around and another bottle of wine.
It’s a shame the evening ended that way. The food was great but the service was subpar.
I had to change the number in our party several times on our reservation and they were wonderfully accommodating. The staff is friendly, informed and funny! We had a great group of friends (who are also business associates) there for dinner and we all agreed that this was the best Italian meal we'd ever had. THIS RESTAURANT IS NOT TO BE MISSED!
Antonio’s is consistently a go to place. For something different try Angel-hair pasta with Bolognese but you need to order a side of Bolognese sauce and add it to your dish to make it outrageously delicious. You can only eat a third of it and wow — awesome leftovers. We sit at the bar upstairs because it has a vibrant feel and all of the bartenders reign supreme.
Antonio's is one of my favorite restaurants. Downstairs is a casual cafe, but upstairs is a formal dining area with outstanding professional service. The menu is always wonderful, and the food is delicious. Good wine list. Portions are large, and the side bread is excellent. You are always made to feel special. Make a reservation and enjoy your meal.
This is an established local place with a local following on its reputation. It was my first visit. I thought the wait staff was excellent. The food was good but not awesome. Chicken piccata was oily as was the angel hair pasta. Another dining party nearby brought their tired baby who cried a good amount of the time. This happens. We all cried when we were babies but there wasn’t any music or ambiance to detract our attention. I think the facility is dated and made me feel I was in a retirement home ... too stuffy. Nothing makes me want to return. It a good been there done that. Next....
The waiter laughed when my boyfriend didn’t order alcohol and never brought his coke. Just water. The place is very dirty - the Ceiling air vents are black. The tile above the kitchen has mildew, the two vents right outside the kitchen had black stuff all over it. We went because the rating was 4.5 and the pricing isn’t in line with all the black stuff (mold? mildew?). We won’t return.
Its tough to decide which we enjoyed more. The fare. Or our server-Michael! Will certainly enjoy Antonio's again should we find ourselves in the neighborhood.
We purchased a Gift Card for a Wedding Couple as a guft as well.
Live the casual dining in the grocery cafe. Although we dined upstairs.
A Boston restauranteur ... Bouna mangiare !!
Everything was absolutely fantastic. I ended up having an additional two guests; so I called the restaurant . The owner promptly made special arrangements & called me back to accommodate our party of five versus the party of three that I had originally requested. When I arrived the table was prepared, we were warmly greeted and seated right away. The manager Tom ( I believe ) was extremely accommodating . I would highly recommend - Service , food , ambience was extraordinary !
Always spot on, this trip to Antonio's was no different. The wait staff each have years of experience and are effective, efficient and professional. My companion and I started with the Burrata - a fabulously rich combination of mozzarella and cream which was outstanding. My only, very minor suggestion, would be a fourth crostini to make sharing easier. For our entree, my companion had the Chicken Parmesan, a straight forward but excellent classic and I had the Pappardelle Bolognese which was also wonderful. We were happy to pay the reasonable $15 corkage fee to enjoy a bottle of 2002 Rudd Cabernet Sauvignon from our cellar.
Antonio's Upstairs is one of those restaurants that we should frequent at least monthly. We don't and we need to correct that.
