Antonette's Classico - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
Very small restaurant. It was a one man show on a Saturday night, he did everything from bartender to waiter to busboy to host. Only help he had was in the kitchen. If you have extra time to spare the food is actually pretty good. The veal chop was great the stuffed mushrooms special was really good too. Do yourself a favor skip the baked clams. First time going I'd go back again.
Really wanted to give this place a shot since it had such positive reviews. Our experience was not to be on Christmas eve and unfortunately we had to walk out and seek a holiday dinner seating elsewhere.
We arrived at our 7pm reservation time and we surprised at how tiny the place actually is, maybe 20 tables at most. Regardless of specifics, there were 2 male kids acting as waiters, no bus boy clearing tables and an older man acting as owner, host, maitre d, waiter, bartender and who knows what else. We waited 15 minutes unattended at the 3 seat bar and saw and heard all we needed before we decided to go elsewhere.
Hot tip: if taking reservations on a holiday, you better have staff working that can handle and accomodate customers.
Food: AMAZING Decor: AMAZING Staff: THE BEST PEOPLE EVER
One of my favorite little-known spots in LI. Once you walk thru those doors, you are greater by on2 of two older gentleman, smiles across there face. The interaction with the guests is impeccable, definitely feels like you're home (our your Italian grandparent's home when the family is over).
we were celebrating 2 birthdays and an anniversary and were very disappointed in the empty atmosphere and in some of the food.Maitre de was very attentive at first and then deserted us. When a restaurant was not busy one would suspect the food not to be fresh. No one came in from 7:00 to 9:15.
I really enjoyed the food and would happily return. The only negative is that the restaurant is a bit small. That does make it cozy and warm, but it also puts you in close proximity to other tables. While the people sitting next to us were very friendly, I would have preferred that the hostess would consider separating people better before seating them so close to each other.
had a reservation and was seated at a booth table with ripped and scratched chairs. Waiter was rude when I was asking for him a certain question about how the veal chop was prepared ,even though he never answered my question but kept repeating what the ingredients were. Finally the 3rd time he said " for the 3rd time" when I asked him politely. He finally got the point when the food came and my husband said "Oh this is the dish you told us about 3 times" After that he changed his attitude. Never ordered the veal because I couldn't get an answer, so ordered the chicken which was good, but the pasta was bland. Couldn't wait to leave, will not be back. Da Ugo was my favorite restaurant, known for good service and good food. Too bad they closed.
Definitely a neighborhood gem!! Extremely romantic with incredible food and attentive service. Went with friends on a Thursday night to stay away from weekend crowd. Perfect decision. Must try the Orange Salad. Very refreshing and light. Had the Cuccinetto which I could eat every night!! Extremely moist and the sauce is addicting. I could eat it with anything every single meal. vegetables were served family style and were cooked to perfection. Very fresh and colorful. It was just a perfect evening with friends. The courses were well paced, service was attentive and the best part was we used the $25 off coupon. The portions are large so we did not have dessert. Next time I'm skipping lunch so there's room. We all will be back.
The food was cold and tasteless. The stuffed artichoke was cold in the middle like it had been frozen and microwaved... The rest of the food was tasteless, everything needed salt pepper and cheese to make it palatable. The service was very slow, although the waiter was generally apologetic.. Definitely pass.
The menu here is outstanding. So many great options. I picked the wrong item as I went with a special. It was good, not great.
I have to go back so I can try other items.
Service was outstanding. It is a small room that feels big yet also feels intimate.
A must try in RVC.
We enjoyed the food we ordered. BUT, the wait staff seemed to forget about us for quite a long time. I had to ask several times for our table to be cleared so that we could have dessert. It is a good thing we were out with good friends. It took three hours to get through this dinner. Had we been alone, we would have been quite frustrated with the wait staff. They were very friendly, but did not attend to our table. But on the plus side, the food was very enjoyable.
Every lunch/dinner visit to this restaurant has been exceptional from the gracious accomodating manager/chef Nick, to the wide selection of delicious menu choices, generous portions/more than amply filled cocktail/wine glasses and the relaxed ambiance of a dining room where tables are thoughtfully arranged for diners' privacy. All this at a reasonable price, ...what more could one ask for!
This is the first time my wife and I dined at this restaurant but it will not be the last. When we entered we were greeted and treated as a member of the family. The bread was excellent and the carpaccio was even better. My only complaint, which was my problem, was that we ate too much of it before the ordered dishes arrived.
My wife and I shared a cold calamari appetizer - it was large enough for two and was excellently done. I had the cuccinetto - a dish made of veal, chicken, prosciutto, eggplant, cheese with a brown walnut gravy. I have a hard to finding the words to describe how good it was. My wife had the chicken Antonette, which was also excellent. We both took home half of the main course due to the size of the portions. The entrees were accompanied by nicely done vegetables which was a nice change from the usual pasta with red sauce that other restaurants provide.
We finished off with coffee. The manager insisted that we try the cheesecake on the house. We were hooked.
This was our 4th visit here and we've had mostly good experiences. This last visit was one of the better ones. The only criticism I have is that some of the tables are too close together. A little breathing room, please.
The service has always been a high point, though I wish servers would stop asking, "Who gets the chicken?" they should know. For a place that wants to be upscale, servers should write it down!
But overall service is fine. Food came at a good pace and was prepared according to the requests of the customers. My seafood past was quite good, actually seemed like a lot of seafood in relation to the home made paparadella.
We skipped desert this time, but upon previous visits, the choices were good.
All in all, we'd probably go a 5th time.
Went to this restaurant for the first time based on reviews and they did not disappoint. The service was top-notch. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. The staff was attentive and timely throughout the meal. There were plenty of choices on the regular menu and plenty of specials to pick from. The food was prepared very well and arrived timely at our table. We would definitely dine here again and tell our friends to also do so.
We are lucky to have Antonette's so close to home.
My husband and I have been here for two special events so far, and they never disappoint. Nick the manager oversees the room and ensures excellent service. They never rush us out to turn over the table, which makes the entire meal comfortable and allows us to truly appreciate the delicious food.
I can't wait to go back!
Lately, Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen - and the quality and service usually fall into the "well, that was okay" category. Being of Italian decent, and growing up with home made pastas and delectable sauces, going out for Italian is not something that always lives up to expectations. The dishes are usually heavily Americanized and not memorable - until now! The food, the service, EVERYTHING was authentic. In fact, I haven't received this level of service and hospitality since I was in Italy. Upon being seated in this cozy, romantic venue, you are given delicious and crusty bread to couple with a delicious eggplant spread. You also receive refreshing bruschetta with the freshest tasting chopped tomatoes and onions (yum!). The waiter left us with our menus and a "take your time". Let me take a moment to point out that at no point does the wait staff rush you (it's like being back in Europe where the table is yours for the evening, and that you are their special guest for the night). We first ordered two glasses of red wine, and I'm pretty sure they poured an entire bottle into each glass - such generous portions! The waiter stopped by to recite the extensive specials list by memory (I was impressed!). We finally cracked open the menu, and after much deliberation, we chose our meals (while we only tried two entrees, I'm sure I could have closed my eyes, pointed to something and it - anything on the menu - would be delicious). My boyfriend chose the Salmone Hazelnut and I chose the Cuccinetto (Veal & Chicken Stuffed with Prosciutto, Eggplant & Cheese in a Chestnut Sauce). I'd be lying if I didn't I say I almost cried after I tried mine -the food was outstanding. After dinner we ordered a slice of tiramisu which was good. The manager came over, introduced himself and brought over some Amoretto. He made us feel welcome and important. Overall this is a romantic, beautiful setting with amazing food. Definitely come for a special occasion or a romantic date night.
Where to start? Every single part of our dining experience was top notch. Nick and his staff are out of this world! From the moment the two of us first walked in the door until we walked out we were treated like family at Antonette's. The food was absolutely delicious and I mean from the appetizers to the dessert and everything in between. Being new to town, I am glad to say I found our new Italian spot. We will be back here many times in the future, that's for sure.
Nick and his staff did another wonderful job. Not only is the food outstanding, I had the pounded pork chop, but the ambiance is wonderful. Nick always makes you feel like you are part of the family. Not only would I recommend Antoinette's to friends, but I have and they all love it too!
We were celebrating our anniversary and this was our first time here. The staff (Nick especially) made us feel more than welcome. The service was great. And on a Saturday night when the dinner rush can sometimes overwhelm the staff. The food was excellent and we even received coffee and desert gratis for our celebration. This place is more than recommended and we can't wait to go back.
From the time you walk in to the time you leave, nothing but the best. The service was pristine and the food was excellent, what more could you ask for. The three things i look for at a restaurant
the food ,the service and the ambiance. From the homemade breads to the desserts
can't wait to return
Apart from the food and ambiance being just great, the service was exceptional. The manager just outstanding. It was our first time there but he made us feel like friends. Will definitely return this time with friends. Try the tiramisu. One of the best I ever had!
I find Antonette Classico a constant delight to dine at, and have had my family there at various times.
Nick has a devoted clientele and is a welcoming host to all, and his staff are attentive and helpful.
There is a varied menu and the food is prepared with care and served well, to everyone's satisfaction.
